&lt;p&gt;A guillotine plan divides stock using complete straight cuts from one edge to the other. This is often practical for panel saws, track saws, and table-saw workflows built around strips.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Choose it when:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;every operation must be a full straight cut;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;handling large sheets is the main constraint;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;a clear cut sequence is more important than squeezing out the last percentage of material.&lt;/li&gt;
