When it comes to managing resources, prudence and a careful approach to ensuring full use of all of the technical capabilities of the hardware are key. The DAOBet platform is delighted to announce that the block producers launched a highly anticipated BET token bridge, also known as the token swap. In addition, we would also like to clarify some of the questions related to the token bridge and convey the need for it.

The most frequently asked questions about the DAOBet blockchain’s operation in recent weeks were related to the token bridge – namely when the swap is to take place and why it is needed in the first place. To make it clearer and to dissolve any smidgen of doubt about the necessity for the token bridge, it is necessary to understand the underlying technical requirements that will allow the BET token to fulfill its full potential.

At its core, the token bridge is an instrument for the token swap that takes place through the DAOWallet. Considering the fact that DAOBet has made the transition from the Ethereum blockchain to a native solution with in-built improvements tailored for catering to the requirements of the iGaming industry, the need for the BET token to be compatible with the new infrastructure is apparent. The swap will allow holders of the BET token to take advantage of the technical solutions of the new DAOBet blockchain, such as one-second finality and certified PRNG.

Once the swap is completed, the new token will be the main instrument for settlements on the DAOBet blockchain and the old token will no longer be supported in some time. The new tokens will be automatically transferred to the DAOWallet accounts of the holders once they pass the swap procedure, which allows direct transitioning of ERC-20 tokens to the DAOBet native token.

Developers Update October-November 2019

Our team is excited and relieved to finally present a roundup of the updates that have been achieved over the last two months of intense development.

Grueling work is the only way to describe the process that our team has been engaged in over the months of October and November. Juggling several directions at once at frantic pace and at the same time appeasing the requests and feedback of the users is not an easy task, but one that the DAOGroup team managed to handle with stellar speed and efficiency. But we shall not bore you with self-exaltation any longer as we get straight down to describing the immense amount of progress that has been achieved over the period in question, so here we go.

DAOBet

The network itself is the framework of the project and has taken the bulk of the development team’s time to perfect, adjust and fine tune. Among the main achievements are the following:

The operation of the RANDPA has been extensively tested with many infrastructure options, such as the validator node, the full node and others. Though we are confident in the quality of our work, we always welcome any suggestions and feedback. The docs.daobet.org portal can be used for leaving any recommendations.

A draft paper on RANDPA was written, which we plan to release later with a full description of the technology and its operating principles.

All the monitoring and infrastructure documentation has also been written and is currently being reviewed to make sure that all processes on the platform are clearly described and transparent for all our users and auditors.

DPoS-1 was implemented instead of DPoS-30 to improve the stability of the network and ensure better validation characteristics.

The RANDPA itself has been optimized to ensure a better gaming experience and multiple bug fixes have been undertaken to sweep up its operation.

An important update concerns the blockchain itself as the latest changes from EOS 1.7.7 have been introduced and implemented into the DAOBet blockchain to ensure better synchronization and integration along with compatibility for reducing lags and decreasing timing.

To improve operation in general and increase formulation, the process of image delivery for the network’s systems has been optimized.

A lot of work associated with fixing bugs and testing before the mainnet launch has been undertaken and is an important aspect to mention, as building a network is only half the process, while making it work flawlessly and efficiently is the bigger challenge. Most of the work was associated with writing tests, commissioning, bug hunting and other seemingly routine programming processes.

The fruit of the development team’s labor was the release of the DAOBet blockchain version 1.0, which is subject to improvements in future releases.

And finally, the DAOBet mainnet was launched on the 27th of November 2019 by 21 leading block producers with eight more validators on standby.

DAOPlatform

The platform is the core of the development process and requires the bulk of the development team’s time to perfect and build.

Some of the main features that have been implemented over the months of October and November include the automated bankroll analysis module, which will make operations on the platform much faster and reliable. As part of the bankroller refactoring, cryptographic functions were removed to simplify the design and streamline the system.

Load testing on a fully deployed environment was carried out with 10-13 active users to simulate real-world operations and ensure that the system will function properly during greater user influx times.

The platform has been moved to the Kubernetes open-source container-orchestration system for automating application deployment, scaling, and management. It was originally designed by Google, and is now maintained by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation.

The sites of the platform have been removed from the monorepository and the first version of the new backend platform is currently operational.

DAOWallet

The DAOWallet is the flagship product that is meant to take a leading role in the operation of the network as a whole and as a key instrument in all operations conducted by users. As such, the development team has focused considerably on the proper operation of the DAOWallet.

Among the most important features that have been introduced in DAOWallet, it is important to mention the inclusion of 2FA security measures that will further still ensure the safety of user funds.

The registration of accounts in the DAOBet network has been streamlined through the use of the DAOWallet and Auto Test Coverage has been introduced to make sure the process is smooth and trouble-free.

Client base backups have been built to make sure that all user data is safe and restorable even in case of a critical system crash (unlikely). Still, better safe than sorry.

The claim feature has been deactivated and a new infrastructure has been prepared to accept the new DAOWallet packages.

DAOGames

The games are the centerpiece of the platform and are a critical element of making it both attractive and functional to users. As such, the team has spent a significant amount of time working on the games that the platform is meant to support.

Among the games that are currently complete, we can proudly mention the 3 Card Brag at 94% readiness, which will soon be launched for all users to enjoy.

Over 30 bug fixes were made in the 3 Card Brag game and 15 more bugs were eliminated in the High Card, Dice, Chest, and Baccarat games.

It was a productive week for the DAOGroup team at one of the largest iGaming Conference and Exhibition in Europe. Over 15000 delegates including blockchain experts, cryptocurrency and iGaming enthusiasts from around the globe met in Malta for the SiGMA summit on various topics relating to start-ups, innovative blockchain solutions and investments in the global iGaming sector.

With over $128 billion expected in the industry as yearly revenue by 2020, creating an upgraded business opportunity for the sector in 2020 and beyond was the major discussion at the center stage.

The event was hosted by speakers like Joseph Portelli, chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange and Jimmy Nguyen, founding president of the Bitcoin Association with coverage being provided by Bitcoin.com, The Wall Street Journal, and many local media agencies.

We took part in the iGaming Marketing Forum hosted by ICS company to discuss the latest trends, innovative solutions and content to match the modern-day customer habits and preferences in the iGaming industry especially with the rise in digital media which have increased the mediums people access content online than they did a decade ago, thereby mandating the marketing sector in the industry to keep up with this transition.

We were able to pass across our innovative solutions in the iGaming industry which captured the attention of many participants as connections were also reached.

DAY 2 OF THE SiGMA SUMMIT

We have established the DAOGroup on the first day of the show at the B31 stand, the company solutions include DAOWallet, DAOPlatform and DAOGames which are the three main pillars of the ecosystem. These products bridge different segments of the clients preferences from enterprise users to public users. This makes it possible for customers from all sectors of the industry to experience an end to end products and services offered by DAOGroup.

DAY 3 OF THE SiGMA SUMMIT

DAOGroup’s CEO Artjoms Spiridonovs had a great speech at the Payments and Fintech conference. According to him, there are many ways of accessing content via digital media in recent times, making the new generation to have the feasibility of choosing faster as they already have the natural gift of choosing faster and the iGaming industry is finding it hard in providing a solution to this modern-day scalability. This prompted DAOGroup in creating something different to meet the scalability demands of players in the iGaming industry.

The DAOGroup had another opportunity to establish its ecosystem for the second time at the sigma show at the B31 stand which generated many more contacts during the period. As well as Trustbet - first DAOGroup's turnkey online casino which also recorded more connections that same day.

DAY 4 OF THE SiGMA SUMMIT

The DAOGroup was also established on the final day of the SiGMA show after which we still made new connections. We were still eager to speak to a lot of people about our solutions. The DAOGroup team was available for discussion at the B31 Stand. With as much as 15000 people who visited the event, many were captured by our stand.

Trustbet was not left behind either as they had a great networking experience and added more potential affiliates to the list.

We were joined by our partners from around the world as well as various known industry players in the iGaming industry. It was a great night with good food and cheers as lots of ideas and thoughts were shared.

The DAOBet mainnet was launched on the 27th of November 2019 by 21 leading block producers with eight more validators on standby.

Another important shortcoming of the Ethereum network were the costs that players were faced with when sending transactions and trying to transfer their winnings or converting them. The Tech Behind DAOBet

The DAOBet platform has its own laws and capabilities that extend well beyond the 3000 transactions per second and one-second deterministic benchmarks. Finality, or the immutability of a transaction, is built into the platform at the primal level to ensure uninterrupted operation. In essence, finality is the guarantee that a transaction will take place on the blockchain and it will never change once it is confirmed. Ironically, some blockchains do not even provide for finality due to the fact that they may exist in parallel with their forks, such as is the case with Bitcoin. Such a scenario is far from ideal in a gaming environment when one result of a transaction can be abandoned for another. This is not how gaming or gambling work.

Gaming is all about finality as results must be complete and immutable to be fair. And the faster a transaction can achieve finality, the faster games will be able to revolve and the more gamers will be able to receive positive experience. If finality takes a long time, then decentralized gaming loses all competitive advantages over traditional centralized solutions.

The DAOBet blockchain runs on the EOS blockchain basis, where finality is usually achieved in under 180 seconds. Still, EOS’s finality is not ideally suited for gaming, as we know it. RANDPA (based on GRANDPA, GHOST-based Recursive Ancestor Deriving Prefix Agreement) was chosen as the basis for improving the finality of blocks. The given approach allows DAOBet to achieve finality of one second for each block, which allows games and other applications to run faster than any other decentralized solution.

DAOBet is compatible with Signidice PRNG certified by GLI and can verify algorithm in smart contracts, providing game and casino developers an opportunity to receive an operations license easier. Signidice is provably fair PRNG that can be used in conjunction with blockchain. In case of dApps, Signidice PRNG can be used to broaden the gameplay with randomized unpredictable outcomes. For those used to lag times, limited calculation capacities and bound to single server processing powers, the idea of having games that are not scripted, but unfold around the gamer’s own thoughts seems far-fetched, but that is precisely what DAOBet aims to achieve.

The BET ERC-20 token is traded on HitBTC. The new BET DAOBet token is not traded yet. It is the first step. More exchanges will appear soon.

What’s the difference between the token claim and the token swap?

DAOWallet will also act as a token claim tool. As you know, DAOBet transitioned from the Ethereum network to a self-build EOS-compatible chain with improvements for the iGaming industry like three sec finality and certified PRNG. Thus, the token transfers from one network to the other one. DAOBet token swap is a BET token migration from Ethereum to a native DAOBet blockchain network. The new token will be created and distributed among those holders who proceeded with the token claim, while the old token will no longer be supported in some time. What is the deadline for the token swap?

The deadline is TBD as we acknowledge, that not all of the holders have access to the BET ERC-20 right now, so we will do our best to prolong it as much as we can. More information will follow after the launch of the mainnet.

Can we use the BET ERC-20 token (not transfer to new BET DAOBet) someday?

It will be tradable of exchanges, but will not be supported on the DAOPlatform.

I have my BET ERC-20 tokens in the HitBTC, what should I do to transfer them into the new BET DAOBet token?

I’ve converted BET(ERC-20) to DAOBet at DAOWallet. When can I see DAOBet tokens in my wallet?

The new tokens will appear in the wallet after the Token Swap starts. You can see the DAOBet in DAOWallet, in the tile and on the page of the new BET (DAOBet).

Is wallet downloadable?

No, it is online. We will be developing the apps as well, stay tuned.

The wallet is currently in alpha stage. Is it safe to swap tokens? Do you recommend this?

Yes, it's absolutely safe. Users have already started to convert their ERC-20 BET tokens. Please make sure that you keep your credentials (a password & a mnemonic phrase) in a safe place.

Any plans to support hardware wallets (such as Ledger)?

We are planning to include the feature to import external private keys in a short while.

Why are you called DAO?

We set a very ambitious goal for our project. We aim at creating a fully decentralized, autonomous product for the particular industry. That is why in our case “DAO” means “decentralized autonomous organization”. But we also respect DAO as a philosophical concept.

DAOBet is a blockchain with iGaming in mind featuring quick finality and advanced governance. It also allows creating high-performance decentralised applications with smart-contracts. To enable all of those features, DAOBet is developing DAOWallet, that will also connect all the network participants as validators, operators, game developers and affiliates.

DAOWallet will also act as a token swap tool. As you know, DAOBet transitioned from the Ethereum network to a self-build EOS-compatible chain with improvements for the iGaming industry like three sec finality and certified PRNG. Thus, the token transfers from one network to the other one. DAOBet token swap is a BET token migration from Ethereum to a native DAOBet blockchain network. The new token will be created and distributed among those holders who proceeded with the token claim, while the old token will no longer be supported in some time. All the new BET tokens will be sent to DAOWallet once the token claim is successful and the swap takes place.

The DAOBet token swap consists of two major steps: a token claim and a token swap. The token claim is a process of holders identifying, that they want their BET ERC-20 tokens to be transferred into the new DAOBet network. It is easily done through DAOWallet, please find an instruction above. The token swap is a token transfer itself, it is made automatically once the token claim is done and the Mainnet is launched.

What else makes DAOWallet special? Why do we make it?

Into the depth of crypto wallets

Users may not be entirely familiar with what a crypto wallet is. To dispel any misconceptions and shed much needed light on the matter, we would like to give a crash course about the crypto wallets to our dear readers.

For starters, a cryptocurrency wallet is a secure, decentralized repository of cryptocurrencies that can only be accessed via the user private keys. The private key is an encrypted password that enables the holder to sign transactions, transfer funds and execute smart contracts. In essence, a crypto wallet is a repository containing the user’s assets in a secure and encrypted environment.

Technically speaking, Ether, Bitcoin, BET tokens, EOS, other ERC-20 tokens, are not actually stored inside the wallets, instead, they are the records on the blockchain. The use of the private key allows the user to interact with the blockchain and dispose of their assets stored inside the wallet.

There is a huge variety of crypto wallets on the market, but all of them can be divided into the Cold and Hot wallets, which are both used for the same purposes with varying levels of security and features.

The Cold wallets are those that are not constantly connected to the Internet or are not internet-based. In other words, they are hardware devices onto which the user’s records are placed as an immutable data about the crypto assets. Once the hardware is connected to the internet, the user enters their private key and the wallet can be used. The Cold wallets are mostly used for long-term storage, considering that inserting them into computers is less than convenient if the assets are to be used frequently. The Cold wallets are notoriously hard to crack or hack given that they need the private keys to be accessed, and the most of Cold wallet users tend to keep the wallets and their keys far apart.

On the other hand, ease of access is provided by the Hot wallets, which are internet-based and only require the private key to be inserted for the user to gain access to their assets. DAOWallet will be a convenient application, and will therefore be a Hot wallet. It will be dApp-specific for DAOBet-powered games and will be intended for use as such, and not for long-term crypto storage. Security will be provided by state of the art encryption algorithms, making sure that all the users have peace of mind that their assets are safe and sound.

Why Bother Developing a DAOWallet in the First Place?

A just question that arises as soon as any crypto-savvy user remembers the numerous wallets available on the market. The fact of the matter is that the development team wants all platform players to have a sign-up and gameplay that they experience at any traditional iGaming application, but with the underlying benefits of the platform’s blockchain technologies.

To make sure that this experience is granted as seamlessly as possible, DAOBet has decided to create its own wallet that would offer players ease of access and other benefits at minimum time constraints.

The first of the three main reasons why we are launching our own wallet is onboarding. The general players are used to a certain standard of journey from landing on-site, to registering to play and then to the actual gameplay experience. The blockchain certainly brings some new challenges to this onboarding process, because many players do not yet fully understand the nature of wallets, private keys, recovery phrases, signing transactions, and other associated processes.

The aim is to simplify the entire process and that is why DAOWallet will be fully integrated into the user journey. The presence of a built-in wallet will not require players to go off-site at any point, and will use all too familiar sign-in and registration processes, primarily, the email address and password combinations.

Secondly, the new wallet will have a user-friendly interface. It is imperative that the wallet will be accessible to those who have no experience with crypto management and to those who have been following the blockchain industry for long.

There is no reason for blockchain-based platforms to be more complicated than any other familiar, adopted technology. By integrating its own wallet, DAOBet will be able to attract an entirely new audience of those wanting guaranteed blockchain fairness with the simplicity they are used to finding in other online environments.

Thirdly, there is no denying that gaming as an activity is no longer a desktop or console-centered activity. Online games are dominating over consoles in many segments of the industry. DAOBet is intent on leading the way in bringing blockchain gaming to the mobile domain. The new wallet will be available on any browser and any device without the need for extra layers, such as browser extensions and app installations.

By using the same account, players will be able to jump between our soon-to-be mobile optimized platform from small screen devices to their desktops and back again with the ease they demand.

What About Security?

Security is paramount when it comes to user data, and DAOBet is taking a fully responsible stand on the issue. Only the keys that are associated with the game are stored on the server. All other elements are stored privately on the user’s device. If the wallet user wants to back-up their keys on the server, then they must explicitly consent to this. To make full use of all the functions available in DAOWallet, the user will have the opportunity to go through the KYC procedure. The alpha version of DAOWallet will not require any KYC.

DAOWallet: Main Functions

In addition to acting as an access point to the DAOBet platform, the wallet will be a multifunctional tool and gateway into the world of crypto.

DAOWallet will have a number of very useful features, one of which is the opportunity to receive the cryptocurrencies onto accounts accessible through the DAOWallet interface. After the registration, the user will have access to BTC, ETH and BET, and will have the ability to add custom ERC-20 tokens by default. This function will be available in the release version of DAOWallet. Users will also be able to buy the BET tokens using the other cryptocurrencies, payment systems or even credit cards. Such broad functionality of the wallet is intended to let users keep on playing with ease!

Fully functional sales operations will be integrated into the wallet, as it can also be used to sell BET and receive other cryptocurrencies, or transfer top up balances to payment systems or credit cards. Cryptocurrency exchange is also a part of the wallet’s functions, as it will give the ability to exchange cryptocurrencies between the accounts inside the wallet. But that’s not all, as users will be able to send cryptocurrencies from their wallet account to another account that is not included in the DAOWallet interface for greater interaction opportunities with other users or with other wallets.

No wallet is complete without a proper connection and DAOWallet means to be a wholesome offering in every respect. Users will be able to connect accounts from other blockchain networks and display them in DAOWallet. To make sure that integration with the DAOBet platform takes place as smoothly as possible, the wallet can be used to log into the DAOBet platform. This way, users will be able to try their luck using the funds they have on their accounts in their wallet.

Since convenience is paramount when speaking of wallet interfaces, the DAOWallet’s main screen and the account screen will display the cryptocurrency conversion rate relative to the main fiat currency of the user's wallet. By default, the currency will be USD, but the user will be able to set another currency that they deem more convenient. By default, the exchange rate for the last 24 hours will be displayed on screen, but the user will be able to switch to an overview of the rate for the last month. Needless to say, all transaction-related information will be available through the blockchain explorer network. The transaction’s status will be displayed in the DAOWallet transaction history.

Convenience does not end with interfaces, as it extends to customer support - the most important aspect of catering to users. That is why the DAOWallet support team will be available for contact with the Alpha Release through Telegram group or DAOWallet_support account directly for any issues or troubleshooting.

When?

You can access DAOWallet alpha right now. The full version of DAOWallet will be launched just after the DAOBet Blockchain Mainnet release to make sure all integration and technical issues have been resolved.

There have been some major updates in DAOBet that we cannot wait to tell you more about.

First of all, Game of Stakes is over, and once again we want to kindly thank all its participants! Validators of our testnet have made a valuable impact on our product’s development. If you have missed it, you can read more about it in our blog.

Secondly, token swap will start soon to help transfer new BET tokens to DAOWallet. It will consist of two steps: token claim (verification of the amount of BET tokens assigned to each token holder) and token swap (the transfer of tokens from Ethereum to DAOBet blockchain). What are your impressions upon DAOBet’s Game of Stakes?

It is very pleasant to hear such warm words from EOS Rio - the winners of Game of Stakes. DAOBet is also excited concerning the upcoming launch of the mainnet. More news upon that will arrive earlier one could expect!

Felvalidator:

DAOBet's GoS was a great, fun and innovative way of testing the network. I really appreciated the way that it was conducted by the organization and the way that the participants, even though they were competing, helped each other by aiming for getting the best out of the network.

Kaiserlabs:

DAOBet's GoS was a great event to test and promote the technology. It also helped to improve the knowledge in operating this technology.

Booyoun Kim, Software Engineer at Cosmostation:

DAOBet seemed like an interesting gambling platform. A betting platform built with BFT made it a fairly fast and stable blockchain.

WeStaking:

Contrary to our concerns, we were surprised by the large number of participants. Also, the participation of big validator companies was amazing.

What were the difficulties you met, and how did you overcome them?

Felvalidator:

We got behind in the beginning, so we had to catch up with the leaders during the competition. In the meantime, we was testing new techniques and configurations for my infrastructure in order to have the best performance. Luckily everything ran well and we caught up with the leaders in the last days of the competition.

Kaiserlabs:

The container setup caused compatibility issues with some cloud providers, so it was required to build from scratch.

Cosmostation:

We have looked into the smart contracts of many blockchain gambling platforms in the past, and most of them were built on EOS. The biggest concern for smart contract developers is that it takes a long time to achieve finality on the EOS blockchain. However, DAOBet solves this problem with its BFT consensus. There weren’t that many difficulties as everything was fairly straightforward. The node installation process was easy, and the DAOBet developers were very responsive.

WeStaking:

There was no guide on how to fix the segfault. Though we managed to do it. The solution is:

What did you enjoy most in Game of Stakes?

Felvalidator:

What I really enjoyed in GoS was that we had the chance to compete with great validators and learn a lot about the DAOBet. I'm really happy to help the project test its usability.

The possibility to see that all the time and efforts invested in GoS have finally been honored. Stay tuned for more opinions of Game of Stakes validators and followers!

Cosmostation:

What we enjoyed most in Game of Stakes was that everyone was able to get the opportunity to learn more about DAOBet and participate in the process of finding vulnerabilities and possible attack vectors. The same goes for our past experience in participating in the Cosmos Game of Stakes. We feel that an incentivized testnet like this is one of the most important steps a project can take before launching mainnet. It helps strengthen the project’s security, usability, and overall features, and also helps community members get up to speed on the details of the network.

WeStaking:

We enjoyed learning about operating and maintaining EOS-based nodes.

Throughout the 10 days of the game, we learned a lot about how DAOBet behaves under combat conditions as the DAOBet blockchain survived several combat benchmarks.

The participants performed their own tests of DAOBet, deployed contracts for testing, and loaded the network with transactions.

During the course of GoS, the DAOBet blockchain reached 12,000tps at some point. This is a great indicator. We saw how RANDPA behaves in the real world, where validators are located in different parts of the world and have different configurations of equipment. The participants deployed additional nodes, communicated, collaborated in the game, and shared their expertise.

The game began at 15:00 UTC. At 17:00 UTC, the activated stake exceeded 15% and the validators got the opportunity to produce blocks and earn VPs.

Launching a decentralized network, where the nodes are located in different corners of the planet and have different time zones is an interesting task. But our validators were able to join the game in just a couple of hours. At the beginning, the players were given a version of the GoS node in the form of a docker. But many ignored this and built their nodes based on source files. This helped them maintain the node in combat mode, as later, bugs interfering with the production of blocks were found in the node.

Over the next few days, we loaded the network with transactions. These benchmarks affected the positions of the players on the tournament scoreboard.

The players’ nodes skipped blocks and did not earn any VPs. Also, the validators themselves did not disregard attaining benchmarks for the sake of getting to the top.

Some time later, more than 6,000 transactions were identified in blocks 769,051 and 769,052. Later on, the participants also loaded the network. One of the participants deployed the benchmark EOS contract for online transactions.

Game Of Stakes Weekend Roundup

We sincerely hope that you had a great and productive weekend and managed to save up some strength for new victories that lie ahead.

But for the participants of Game of Stakes, the weekend was a busy one, as the GoS network was subjected to several strength tests, which allowed some of the validators to change their standings in the leaderboards.

The main events of the past weekend:

We recorded several spikes in the tps, which affected the stability of the work of some of the participants’ nodes, thereby introducing some serious changes to the lineup of the leaders.

The guys from eosriobrazil returned to first place, as the weekend obviously had a positive impact on the performance of their nodes. Second place is now occupied by ex-leaders kaiserlabs11. Our sincerest congratulations go to the guys from everstakedao, who literally stormed into the top three after making a huge leap in performance.

Former outsider p2pvalidator is not far behind the leaders. They are now in 4th position and are continuing to relentlessly battle for the top three.

The same can be said of daomintercap, who rose from 15th to 9th place.
