Every student developer eventually faces the same dilemma: you want to build real-world software, but building alone in a silo is tough. At the same time, we constantly run into missing features, repetitive administrative hurdles, or tools that simply don’t exist for our specific student needs.

So, we decided to fix it ourselves.

Introducing Kaju Open Source 🍊 — a community-driven initiative focused on shipping practical software, developer tools, AI systems, and digital products.

Our philosophy is simple: If a tool doesn't exist, we build it.

 🚀 What We Build

We don't limit ourselves to a single stack or domain. We build whatever solves a genuine problem. Our focus areas include:

 🤖 AI & RAG Systems (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)

 🌐 Web Applications

 📱 Mobile Apps

 🛠 Developer Tools

 🎨 UI/UX Design & High-Quality Documentation

📦 Our First Flagship Project: ORE 🟢

We are actively developing and shipping our first major platform: ORE.

What it is: An open-source Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) platform.

What it does: It allows users to seamlessly search, understand, and interact directly with their own knowledge bases, documents, and notes.

The Tech Stack: Built with [Insert Python/FastAPI/Next.js/etc. here] to ensure it is fast, local-friendly, and highly accessible.

Psst... We also have more projects cooking in the oven right now 🍪, including tools to streamline student administration and organization. Keep an eye out for our upcoming launches!

💎 Our Values: The Kaju Way

We started this because we wanted a space that prioritizes building over endless theorizing. Everything we do is guided by four core pillars:

🛠 Build What You Need: We create software that solves real, everyday problems for real people.

📚 Learn By Building: We view every repository and project as an active opportunity to grow our skills together.

🌍 Open Collaboration: Every line of code is open for discussion, feedback, and shared ownership.

🎯 Quality Over Hype: We focus on shipping useful products, clear documentation, and clean, maintainable code.

🤝 We Want You to Build With Us!

Kaju isn't an exclusive club; it’s an ecosystem built by students, for students. Whether you are a seasoned contributor or looking to make your very first open-source contribution, there is a place for you here.

We are actively looking for:

👩‍💻 Developers: If you love working on the frontend, backend, mobile apps, or messing around with ML/AI models, we need you.

🎨 Designers: Help us turn rough developer concepts into gorgeous, intuitive interfaces (product, brand, UX).

✍️ Writers: Good software is invisible without good docs. Help us write tutorials, guides, and technical breakdowns.

🎓 Students & First-Timers: If you've never opened a Pull Request (PR) before, don't worry. Your first PR will be loudly celebrated here! 🎉

 🏁 Get Involved

Ready to see what we're working on?

⭐ Check out our GitHub Org: github.com/Kaju-Open-Source/

💬 Join the Conversation: Head over to our repository's Discussion tab to pitch your own ideas, ask questions, or just say hello.

Let's build the tools we wish existed. Together.
