We want YOU to speak at DevFest WI!

This year, DevFest WI is an online conference for all technologists, organized by GDG Madison and volunteers from the Madison tech community.

DevFest WI will take place on October 24, 2020, and feature a collection of live talks, pre-recorded talks, panel discussions, and more.

The conference theme is inclusivity: how to create development teams and software products that are welcoming to everyone. We are seeking presentations on a broad range of topics related to inclusivity, including, but not limited to:

online privacy and security
accessibility
localization
web performance
diversifying teams
tech interviews
empathetic code review
mentoring and teaching
cross-cultural design
AI and ML
neurodiversity
tech talks/public speaking

We are particularly interested in talks on topics that the you, the speaker, are excited about and that can be understood and appreciated by non-specialists.

Presentations with more than one speaker are welcome. First-time speakers are encouraged to apply. All speakers will be assigned a mentor who will be happy to help you develop your presentation.

As part of your submission, you will be asked to read and agree to the DevFest WI Code of Conduct.

Any comments will be anonymously passed along to the speakers. We've had some reports of session reviews not working. DevFest WI is organized by GDG Madison. Join the Meetup for more content during the other 11 months of the year. We're always looking for people to present so please reach out to contact@gdgmadison.com. Meetups are a great low pressure event for your first time presenting, and we're always happy to help you prepare your talk.

DevFest WI is working with Madison community groups to to make the conference accessible and inclusive. One of our initiatives is to facilitate opportunity sponsorships for members of underrepresented groups in tech and/or those with financial constraints that would prevent them from attending.

We have a limited number of discounted tickets available to members of underrepresented groups or those with financial constraints who cannot afford a full-price ticket.

You have one week left to submit your proposal to DevFest WI! The CFP closes at midnight Central Time on June 30.

We are still accepting any and all submissions, but we are particularly interested in 10-minute presentations on the following topics:

Accessibility
Diversity and inclusion in tech
Machine learning
Security
Testing/QA

To submit a proposal, please fill out two brief forms: the speaker info form and the proposal form.

Proposals need not be related to Google products.

We want YOU to speak at DevFest WI! DevFest WI is an inclusive, positive conference for all technologists coming to downtown Madison September 28th.

We are seeking 10- and 30-minute presentations on a broad range of topics, including web development, cloud computing, core skills (communication, empathy, negotiation, organization, etc.), Firebase, accessibility, ML/AI, Android, Flutter/Dart, Material Design, and more.

We are particularly interested in talks on topics that the you, the speaker, are excited about and that can be understood and appreciated by non-specialists. Presentations with more than one speaker are welcome. First-time speakers are encouraged to apply.

To submit a proposal, please fill out two brief forms: the speaker info form and the proposal form.

You are welcome to submit multiple proposals; you only have to complete the speaker form once. Be sure to include the same email address(s) on both forms.

The CFP will close June 30th and talks will be accepted on a rolling basis so submit early.
