The impact on No-Code has been evident for the past few years and this will not be stopping anytime soon.

According to Gartner, not only are new users continuing to flock to no-code tools, but existing users are increasing their usage: currently, nearly 60% of all custom apps are built outside the IT department. And by 2025, 70% of new applications developed by organizations will use no-code or low-code tools, up from less than 25% in 2020.

A No-Code report by Zapier shows an enormous rise in the use of no-code tools from the beginning of 2020 to the beginning of 2022. In fact, the majority of no-code users started using these tools during the pandemic—with over 4 out of 5 having their first no-code experience within the past two years.

The beginning of 2020 was a period where people had enough time to learn new skills and No-Code, not only among tech individuals, had an appeal for many others without any coding experience. Unlike many other interests that might have waned in attention as the pandemic eased, No-Code has endured.

Not only has this skill been invaluable for startups and businesses alone, many others have taken it up as an income making skill or an additional skill utilized in their day to day jobs - albeit largely outside of coding or tech companies.

According to Zapier, when people were asked why they started learning & using No-Code tools and platforms, these were their reasons

Whatever the reasons, the mass adoption of No-Code tools by both industries and companies has contributed to the increased interest in the sector. The spillover also benefits, directly or indirectly, others outside these initial interest groups.

The 3 primary reasons of why businesses, particularly startups continue to find relevance with No-Code tools can be summarized to efficiency and effectiveness in 3 areas:

Build Cheaper (Cost Reduction) - Traditional developers are 'traditionally' expensive. Hiring a team of software engineers and full stack developers used to be costly, it still is for companies that still prefer full stack developers over building on No-Code platforms. However for many new businesses (startups), they are looking for ways to do more with small budgets.

Build Easier (Easy to Use) - With No-Code tools, you will build your product (software/app) on a No-Code platform. Now let's point out a fact here: CODING IS STILL INVOLVED. But not for you. You will primarily deal with the front end product using a drag-and-drop interface provided by the No-Code platform.

Build Quicker (Time) - No-Code tools reduce time spend building a product by great margins. Removing the worry around source code, its functionality and accuracy means you have less to worry about. It now takes a little less time for founders and product teams to go market quicker, get customer feedback and iterate (implement feedback/make changes) in less time as well.

The Greek philosopher, Plato, had it accurately 'Necessity is the mother of all invention'. True to form, 'When the need for something becomes essential, you are forced to find ways of getting or achieving it.'

It is always important to thoroughly consider your business case independently to accurately determine your needs and measure the feasibility of the solutions you can afford, depending on your own requirements. In most cases 'To Code' or 'Not to Code' can quickly be resolved by considering the aforementioned factors.

ChatGPT, being highly competent has some few benefits to add for your consideration:

3️⃣ Increased Efficiency: No-Code tools streamline the development process by providing pre-built templates, drag-and-drop interfaces, and ready-made components. This allows small businesses and startups to build applications, websites, and other digital assets more efficiently, freeing up time and resources for other critical tasks.

4️⃣ Flexibility and Customization: No-Code tools offer a high degree of flexibility and customization, allowing small businesses and startups to tailor their solutions to their specific needs. They can easily modify and iterate on their projects as they gather feedback and evolve their offerings.

5️⃣ Empowering Non-Technical Teams: No-Code tools empower non-technical team members to contribute to the development process. Small businesses and startups can involve marketers, designers, and other non-technical staff in building and maintaining digital assets, fostering collaboration and cross-functional involvement.

8️⃣ Automate Workflows: No-Code tools allow small businesses and startups to automate repetitive tasks and workflows, improving efficiency and productivity. They can create automated processes for tasks like data entry, customer support, and marketing, freeing up valuable time for more strategic activities.

9️⃣ Integration with Third-Party Tools: Many No-Code platforms offer integrations with popular third-party tools and services. Small businesses and startups can leverage these integrations to enhance their operations, such as connecting their CRM system with email marketing software or integrating payment gateways for seamless transactions.

🔟 Enhanced Collaboration: No-Code tools provide collaborative features that enable small businesses and startups to work together effectively. They can involve team members, stakeholders, and even clients in the development process, fostering transparent communication, and real-time collaboration for better outcomes.

While there may be other factors to consider, this covers the important bulk answering the 'To Code' or 'Not To Code' question.

We are developing a Developer-First Global No-Code Community. Please Join Us.

The no-code development movement has gained significant traction in recent years, with more developers and businesses realizing the potential of this innovative approach to building applications. But exactly who is it for? Are there any benefits? What are the practical use cases for No-Code/Low-Code technologies? How do you start? We are covering all these questions here.

Before we get started, be in the know by joining our Global Community of Certified No-Code Developers — http://eepurl.com/infBuE. Find out more of who we are and how we are building the engine of the No-Code Universe — https://devshired.com/

Okay, let’s dive in.

The concept of no-code development can be traced back to the late 1980s, with the introduction of visual programming languages like Visual Basic. In fact, programs like Excel are considered part of the original fold since it allows you to manipulate and sort out data without code. Other people actually consider Excel, released in 1985, as the first No-Code tool.

Fast forward many years later, No-Code starts gaining mainstream attention with the launch of WordPress — allowing anyone to create and manage their own websites even without any knowledge or other programming/coding languages

Additions to this timeline include the 2006 launch eCommerce platform Shopify, as well as the first No-Code web development platform — Bubble, in 2012. New tools and technologies have emerged ever since and the trajectory is not poised to slow down — not anytime soon.

As the global No-Code workforce continues to rise as well, No-Code developers will have to find a way to uniquely position themselves above the crowd. For many of our developers, the tools we are building to help them attain our certifications is setting them on a better global footing in this increasingly competitive landscape.

Over the years, advancements in technology have led to more powerful and user-friendly no-code platforms, ultimately making software development accessible to a broader audience.

Benefits of No-Code Development

To make things better, most or all these tools are working hard to incorporate some level of AI technologies and its interactive capabilities to help you throughout the process. It is just like having an expert assistant helping you to build your business.

Although no-code development has gained popularity, some stigmas still persist. For instance, concerns about security and scalability are common. However, as no-code platforms mature, they continue to address these issues. No-code platforms like Bubble, for which Devshired offers certification programs, are increasingly being recognized for their robust security features and ability to scale.

Using No-Code technologies isn’t just for the Non-Technical Founder with no technical expertise to design, build and launch their products. Even for the technical founder — this is a go to avenue that allows them to optimize time, efforts and resources. Build Better. Build Smarter. Build Faster. Build Cheaper.

The Future of No-Code Development
As no-code development continues to grow, we can expect to see even more powerful platforms and tools emerge. No-Code isn’t the future. It is the Now. The current technology that businesses of all sizes are utilizing to build better, faster and cheaper.

In today's rapidly evolving tech landscape, #nocode #lowcode development has emerged as a game-changer, allowing developers to build applications without traditional programming knowledge. As the industry expands, no-code certification programs have become essential for professionals looking to validate their skills and stand out in a competitive market.

But let's talk about the importance of certification for service providers.

Certifications from leading platforms not only validate a professional's skills but also boost their credibility and increase their value in the job market.
Companies, in turn, can trust certified professionals to deliver top-quality work, ensuring optimal performance and ROI.

Here, we discuss four notable platforms that offer certifications:

Google: Google offers certifications in several areas, including Google Ads and Google Analytics. Professionals with Google certifications demonstrate their proficiency in advertising and analyzing data on Google's platforms. Companies seeking experts in these fields benefit from their in-depth knowledge and skills to optimize their advertising and data analysis efforts, leading to better decision-making and overall business growth.

Facebook: Facebook's certification program, Facebook Blueprint, covers various aspects of Facebook and Instagram advertising. These certifications ensure professionals are well-versed in leveraging Facebook's advertising tools and can develop effective ad campaigns. Companies can trust certified professionals to create targeted campaigns, maximizing their ad budget and driving higher ROI.

Salesforce: As one of the leading CRM platforms, Salesforce offers a range of certifications, including Salesforce Administrator, Salesforce Developer, and Salesforce Architect. A Salesforce certified professional can effectively manage and customize Salesforce implementations, helping businesses enhance customer relationships and streamline sales processes. Companies that work with certified Salesforce professionals can expect improved CRM efficiency, better customer insights, and increased revenue.

HubSpot: HubSpot, another renowned CRM platform, offers certifications in various areas like inbound marketing, sales, and customer service. Professionals with HubSpot certifications possess the expertise to implement and manage the platform effectively, driving growth and customer satisfaction. Companies that choose service providers with HubSpot certifications can expect high-quality work that aligns with inbound marketing best practices, resulting in better lead generation, conversions, and customer retention.

And so forth, and so forth..I am sure you get the idea.

There are other several platforms that offer certifications on how to use, get results & realize ROI from the usage of those platforms.

If I am looking for an Ads Manager to conceptualize, implement, monitor, track and analyze ad campaigns on #Google or #Facebook , it only makes sense to look for a certified professional. This is not to say certification automatically means I will generate results - but it gives an understanding that first and foremost, he/she is an expert in the understanding of the technical functionality & effective usage of the platform we will be running ads on. In addition to that of course, we will also require a portfolio of work with valid previous work results.

You may argue - isn't experience and previous portfolio results much more important than a certification? Well, here is what we can definitively say - every expert will likely be certified in the usage of that platform - you have to prove you know how to use it. You cannot become an expert without understanding the functionality and usage of the platform - therefore your expertise cannot be outside proving your understanding of the platform; which leads to some level of certification.

Certification is used as the first step of elimination, then work experience/portfolio is used in the second step.

Certifications from these platforms add significant value to both certified professionals and the companies they work for. Certified professionals are better equipped to handle tasks within their area of expertise, while companies can trust their skills, ensuring the best possible outcomes for their projects.

In this blog post, we'll explore the top 5 benefits of no-code certification programs for developers, to highlight their value:

Let's start with a caution - You would likely have seen and read articles in which Elon Musk and other AI experts have cited concern with the rate of progression in Artificial Intelligence. Such concerns are warranted - though we will share our own thoughts in a different blog.

Okay, let's get into today's subject: Africa's Opportunity with No-Code & Artificial Intelligence.

No-Code is the future of Software Development. No-code + Artificial Intelligence is the ultimate, unprecedented future of ALL Software Development. But what does this really mean? Most importantly, what is the role & a leveraged point of opportunity for Africa?

No-Code is the future of software development, but what does that mean? As the world transitions into a new era of technology and innovation, Africa is uniquely positioned to harness the power of no-code platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive economic growth, create new opportunities, and improve the lives of its people. With the global no-code market projected to reach $45.5 billion by 2025, and AI expected to add $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, there has never been a better time for African startups and businesses to embrace these technologies.

The number of software developers in each country can change rapidly due to the fast-paced growth of the tech industry in Africa. With that in mind, here are rough estimates for each country:

Nigeria: 55,000–75,000 software developers
South Africa: 40,000–60,000 software developers
Kenya: 20,000–30,000 software developers
Egypt: 15,000–25,000 software developers
Morocco: 10,000–20,000 software developers
Tunisia: 5,000–10,000 software developers
Ghana: 5,000–10,000 software developers
Uganda: 3,000–6,000 software developers
Rwanda: 1,000–3,000 software developers
Senegal: 1,000–3,000 software developers

(Please consider these figures as ROUGH estimates)

But how can Africa respond to this technological revolution and make the most of the opportunities presented by no-code and AI? The answer lies in a combination of factors, including education, collaboration, infrastructure investment, and a culture of innovation.

First and foremost, businesses and individuals need to educate themselves about no-code platforms and AI concepts. Investing in training programs, online courses, and workshops can help build the knowledge and skills required to navigate this rapidly changing landscape. Encouraging a culture of continuous learning and adaptation is vital for staying ahead of emerging trends and technologies.

Next, African startups and small businesses should identify use cases where no-code solutions or AI applications can improve efficiency, reduce costs, or drive innovation. No-code tools can be used for tasks such as app development, workflow automation, and data analysis, while AI applications can be explored in areas like customer service (chatbots), sales forecasting, and inventory management.

African businesses should also leverage available resources, such as free or low-cost online tutorials, community forums, and open-source AI libraries, to build their understanding of no-code and AI technologies. Joining local tech hubs or innovation centers can provide valuable networking opportunities with other businesses and professionals working in these fields.

Collaboration and partnership are essential for overcoming barriers like limited funding, technical knowledge, or infrastructure. By partnering with technology providers, research institutions, and other businesses, African startups can access the expertise, resources, and support needed to succeed in their no-code or AI projects.

Experimentation and iteration are key to finding the most effective applications of no-code and AI in the African context. Startups should develop and test prototypes, gather feedback, and refine their solutions based on real-world experiences.

Implementing data-driven decision-making can help African businesses make better-informed choices that drive growth and innovation. No-code tools and AI can help manage and process data more efficiently, enabling businesses to adapt to changing market conditions and customer needs.

Investing in infrastructure is crucial for supporting the adoption of no-code and AI technologies in Africa. This may involve upgrading internet connectivity, expanding access to cloud services, and fostering the development of local data centers. Governments and private sector players should collaborate to create an environment that supports innovation and technological growth.

Fostering a culture of innovation is key to unlocking Africa's potential in the no-code and AI space. By embracing a growth mindset, African startups and businesses can break down traditional barriers, challenge the status quo, and create new opportunities for the continent's future.

On the question of what Africa is currently doing to leverage these novel innovations:

Education and research:
Several African universities and research institutions have established AI-focused programs, research centers, and partnerships with international organizations to develop local talent and foster innovation. Examples include the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), which offers a Master's in Machine Intelligence, and the Data Science Nigeria initiative, which aims to build AI capacity in Nigeria through training programs and academic collaborations.

AI startups:
The continent is witnessing a growing number of AI startups that are tackling various problems in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, finance, and education. Examples include Zindi (a data science competition platform), Ubenwa (an AI system for detecting birth asphyxia), and AgroCenta (a platform using AI for crop yield prediction and optimization).

Government initiatives:
Some African governments have recognized the importance of AI in driving economic growth and addressing societal challenges. For instance, Kenya's government has established a task force to develop a roadmap for AI and blockchain technology. Similarly, Rwanda's government is working on a national AI policy and exploring AI applications in various sectors.

International partnerships:
African countries are collaborating with global organizations and tech giants to advance AI development and implementation. Examples include Google's AI research center in Accra, Ghana, and IBM's research labs in Kenya and South Africa. These partnerships aim to enhance local AI capacity, foster innovation, and support the development of AI-driven solutions tailored to African contexts.
Addressing societal challenges: AI is being used to address various challenges across Africa, such as disease outbreak prediction, natural disaster management, wildlife conservation, and traffic management. Organizations like the AI for Good Foundation are working to develop AI solutions that can have a positive impact on the lives of people in Africa.

While Africa still faces significant challenges in fully harnessing AI's potential, such as limited infrastructure, data availability, and a skills gap, the continent is making considerable strides in embracing AI to drive growth, innovation, and positive social change.

The opportunity in no-code is immense, as it democratizes software development and empowers individuals and businesses alike to build applications and digital solutions without the need for traditional programming skills. This revolution is particularly significant in Africa, where the tech sector is growing rapidly and there is a demand for efficient, cost-effective solutions.
