&lt;li&gt;As soon as execution leaves the block—whether normally or via an exception—the JVM automatically invokes &lt;code&gt;reader.close()&lt;/code&gt;.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;If both the read operation and the auto-close fail, Java preserves the original exception and attaches the secondary error via &lt;strong&gt;suppressed exceptions&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/li&gt;
