Last year, I went through the campus placement process for LTIMindtree for the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) role (4.05 LPA). Since many students are preparing for upcoming drives, I want to share exactly what the process looked like, from the online test to the interview questions.

 1. Timeline and Eligibility

The process moved quickly. To be eligible, we needed at least 60% in 10th, 12th, and college, with no active backlogs and a maximum 2-year gap in education.

Registration: September 16, 2025

Online Test: September 20, 2025

Technical Interview: October 5, 2025

HR Interview: October 8, 2025

Final Results: November 10, 2025

 2. Round 1: Online Assessment

The first round was a 110-minute online test on the SHL platform. LTIMindtree takes this very seriously. We had to install a Lockdown Browser, which completely blocks you from opening other tabs or apps. The AI tracks your webcam and microphone the entire time.

The test had three main sections:

Aptitude: Logical, Quantitative, and Analytical questions.

Technical: Basic Computer Programming and CS concepts.

Verbal: English Comprehension and Spoken English.

 3. Round 2: Technical Interview

After clearing the test, I had a virtual technical interview on October 5. Even though the role was general, the interviewers focused heavily on the projects I had on my resume:

Please give a brief introduction.

 General Project and Portfolio

What are your projects?

Can you explain one of your core projects in detail? (I chose to explain my Course Marketplace project here).

How did you solve a specific technical challenge in one of your projects?

How does your project stand out from other similar applications in the market?

Project Deep-Dive and Architecture (Course Marketplace)

Can you explain the data flow and system architecture of this project?

What specific technologies did you use to build the frontend?

How and where are user files stored in this application?

What specific security measures did you implement in this project?

Can you describe the database schema and tables used here?

How is the relationship between "courses" and "students" mapped in your database?

How would you scale this application architecture to handle a massive increase in users?

Data Structures and Algorithms (Live Coding)

Write a program to generate the Fibonacci sequence.

Write a program to check if a given number is prime.

Core Computer Science (OOP and OS)

What is the fundamental difference between a process and a thread?

Explain the concept of inheritance in Object-Oriented Programming.

 Databases and SQL

What is database normalization?

Live SQL Coding: The interviewer described three custom data scenarios, and I had to write the exact SQL queries on the spot to retrieve the requested data.

 Machine Learning

What is the difference between Type I and Type II errors?

In what real-world scenarios would you use Logistic Regression?

Explain the difference between stemming and lemmatization in NLP.

 4. Round 3: HR Interview

The HR round on October 8 was very straightforward. It was mostly to check communication and company fit:

What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

Describe a time you faced a conflict in a team setting and how you resolved it.

What is your preferred work location?

Are you comfortable working in afternoon or evening shifts?

For the LTIMindtree GET role, you need to know your basic CS concepts and SQL. But if you want to stand out, put good projects on your resume and know them inside out. If you can confidently explain your database and code, the interview becomes much easier. If you want to see the Course Marketplace architecture I mentioned, you can check it out on my portfolio at rajdivyanshu.in.

My Exact Cognizant GenC Interview Experience & Hiring Process (2025–2026)

Well, if you are preparing for Cognizant On-Campus drive, chances are that you already know that it’s a marathon. I went through the entire 2025-2026 GenC hiring process, and it took about three and a half months from pressing "apply" in mid-November to finally accepting my LOI in late February.

I am a Full Stack Developer (MERN), so I wasn’t very sure how my web-heavy background would go in a standard campus interview. Fortunately, the process was structured and I was able to use my personal projects to steer the conversation.

If you have a drive coming up, here’s the complete, realistic breakdown of what the process looked like, the exact technical assessment structure and the word-for-word questions I was asked in the interview room.

 Role and Overview

Role: GenC (Information Technology)

Package: ₹4.0 LPA – ₹6.75 LPA

Platform: Superset

Track: Cluster 1 (Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)

Timeline: Mid-November 2025 – Late February 2026

 Phase 1: The Screening Assessments

Cognizant has a very strict monitoring of the assessment area. All technical and aptitude tests are proctored through a SAB (Safe Assessment Browser) or MSB (Mettl Secure Browser).

 1. Communication Assessment (Nov 19, 2025)

Duration: 60 Minutes

Details: A mandatory verbal and listening test. You will listen to audio clips and speak your answers into a microphone.

Suggestion: Take this in a completely silent room. The audio clips only play once. Do not press F5 or refresh the screen, as doing so will auto-submit your assessment immediately.

 2. Aptitude Assessment (Nov 21, 2025)

Duration: 80 Minutes

Details: Conducted on the Aon platform using the SAB tool. It covers standard quantitative, logical, and verbal reasoning. You are required to scan and display your college ID card to the webcam before the test begins.

 3. Technical Assessment – Cluster 1: Java + Web (Jan 28, 2026)

Duration: 120 Minutes (MSB V39 Browser)

Details: I had the Cluster 1 (Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) track. Instead of pure multiple-choice questions, this assessment focuses heavily on practical coding, query writing, and refactoring.

Here is how my test was structured:

SQL: 2 practical query-writing challenges.

Java (DSA): 2 coding questions.

Web Development (HTML/CSS/JS): 1 or 2 practical refactoring challenges. You are given a partially completed codebase template and must follow instructions to fix or add missing logic—such as linking image sources, building form validations, setting up a dynamic image showcase, or handling JavaScript
onclick
events.

Core Java MCQs: 10 multiple-choice questions purely covering Java fundamentals.

Important Rule: Navigation is strictly locked. If you Skip or Move Forward, you cannot return to previous questions. Always answer each question completely before moving on to the next.

Phase 2: The Technical and HR Interview (Jan 31, 2026)

Three days into the technical round, I was scheduled for an interview on Superset. It was a 1 on 1 video interview on my portfolio, SQL, Core Java, computer science fundamentals, mathematics, HR scenarios.

During the project discussion, the interviewer opened up the exact resume I had submitted when applying the first time instead of letting me choose. He reviewed my list and specifically targeted my Course Marketplace project and asked me to go through it end to end. I talked him through the architecture of the MERN stack, how I designed the database schema in MongoDB, set up the API routing in Express, and built the system as a whole.

Here is the exact list of questions asked during the interview:

 Introductions and Projects

Where are you from?

What college are you from?

Introduce yourself.

Explain your Course Marketplace project.

 SQL

What is Primary Key?

What is Foreign Key?

What do you mean by Unique Constraint?

What’s the difference between Primary & Unique Key?

Explain all types of Joins.

 Maths and Statistics

Apart from computer science, where do you see the use of the concepts of Joins? (set theory in mathematics)

What is probability?

What’s the probability of getting a head when coin is tossed?

What is the Range of Probability?

Then he asked a question related to statistics.

What is line equation?

 Core Java and Data Structures

How many Prime Numbers less than 10 are there?

Then he asked me to write the code for Prime Number.

In the Prime Number code, why did the loop go till
Math.sqrt(n)
?

What is Big O?

Explain Stack & Queue.

Explain Selection & Merge sort.

What is
String[] args
in
public static void main(String[] args)
?

How to declare an array?

Explain Exception Handling.

If we write anything in the
finally
block, will it be executed even if the
try
,
catch
block has an exception?

What is the
new
keyword?

What is the
static
keyword?

Explain OOPS.

What keyword is used in inheritance?

Difference between Encapsulation & Abstraction.

Explain LinkedList.

What is the structure of LinkedList?

What is a node in LinkedList?

Name 5 classes in Java.

What is the class of
print()
in Java?

What is
StringBuilder
?

What is Hashing?

 HR Questions

Openness to learning new technologies?

Willingness to relocate?

Flexibility with shifts?

Phase 3: Letter of Intent (LOI) and Onboarding (Feb 24, 2026)

On February 24, 2026, I received the official Letter of Intent (LOI) notification via Superset.

After accepting the LOI on the Superset portal, candidates will be required to upload their Class 10th marksheet for preliminary verification. Cognizant issues the formal Offer Letter containing detailed salary components and options on joining location on verification.

 Mandatory Documents Required for Onboarding

To avoid background verification (BGV) issues, keep the following documents ready:

Academic Proofs: X, XII, Diploma, UG/PG marksheets, and Degree/Provisional certificates.

PAN Card: Ensure your full name (including last name and father's name) matches your registered profile exactly. A mismatch here is a primary cause of BGV failure.

Citizenship Proof: Voter ID Card or Passport.

Aadhar Card: Required for identity and address verification.

 Key Takeaways

Master the Basics: Strong fundamentals in Object-Oriented Programming, Java syntax, SQL Joins, and basic mathematical concepts will carry you through most of the technical round.

Know Your Code: If you list projects on your resume, be prepared to explain database schemas, API routes, and architectural decisions in detail.

Follow Assessment Rules: Respect the proctoring guidelines, ensure a stable internet connection, and remember that you cannot backtrack during the technical test.
