How I Built a Real-Time Online Ludo Game Using React, Node.js, Socket.IO, and MongoDB

Building multiplayer games has always been an exciting challenge for me. I wanted to create a browser-based Ludo game where players could join from anywhere and play together in real time without installing an app.

After several iterations, I built an online Ludo game using React, Node.js, Socket.IO, and MongoDB, then deployed it on Vercel.

🚀 Why I Built This Project

Ludo is one of the most popular board games, and I wanted to recreate the experience in the browser with real-time gameplay, a clean interface, and smooth performance.

The main goal was to make the game easy to access from any device while keeping the multiplayer experience responsive.

⚡ Challenges

One of the biggest challenges was synchronizing the game state between multiple players.

Using Socket.IO made it possible to instantly update player moves without refreshing the page. Another challenge was handling player disconnections and reconnecting them without breaking the game.
