Exploring DocFlow: An Open-Source Document Editor for Vue 3 Developers
Developers building applications that involve document creation and editing often need more than a basic text editor. Features such as page layouts, tables, collaboration, footnotes, and structured content can make a significant difference.
I recently reviewed DocFlow, an open-source document editor designed for developers, particularly those working with Vue 3.
DocFlow is built around technologies including Vue 3, TipTap, ProseMirror, and Yjs. It aims to provide document-editing capabilities that developers can integrate into their applications.
What makes DocFlow interesting?

Here are some of the capabilities I explored:

Rich-text editing
DocFlow supports common editing features such as headings, formatted text, tables, images, links, and code blocks.

Page layout and pagination
It supports A4 and A5 page layouts, including page breaks. This can be useful for applications that need structured documents.

Footnotes and bibliography
The editor includes options for inserting footnotes and bibliography sections, which may be useful for academic and research-related applications.

Real-time collaboration
DocFlow uses Yjs-based collaboration capabilities to support collaborative document editing.

Developer integration
The project provides Vue integration, a Web Component option, and a headless core for developers who need different integration approaches.

Potential use cases
Depending on the needs of a project, DocFlow could be explored for:
Document management applications
Academic and research platforms
Collaborative writing tools
Publishing and content applications
Vue 3 applications that require an embedded document editor
These are potential use cases rather than confirmed customer deployments.

Explore the project
If you work with Vue 3 or build applications that require document-editing functionality, you may find the project worth exploring.
GitHub repository: https://github.com/Kedata-Indonesia/docflow
Live application: https://docflow-app.kedata.cloud/
Project website: https://docflow.kedata.cloud/
Let's discuss
For developers who have worked with document editors, what features do you consider essential when choosing an editor for a web application?
I'd be interested in hearing your technical feedback and learning about other approaches developers use.
