I recently launched EngX Academia, a learning app built for students at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria.
I am currently the Director of ICT for ASICTS (Association of Information and Communication Technology Students, FUTO) 2025/2026, and this project started from a very specific problem I faced in school.

The problem
The course was GET102 - Engineering Graphics and Solid Modelling.
If you've taken it, you probably already know how challenging it can be.
Back in my first year, I struggled with it a lot. The lectures alone were not enough for me to fully understand what was being taught, and I often found myself wishing there was a simpler way to break things down step by step, something more visual, more practical, something I could go back to at my own pace. That frustration stayed with me.
In January, I decided to start building a solution instead of just wishing for one. That is how EngX Academia started with my design and content team. The goal was simple: make difficult courses like GET102 easier to understand through structured learning.
We designed EngX Academia around that exact problem. Video tutorials that break down GET102 topics clearly, AI assistance to help explain concepts when students get stuck, a built in GPA and CGPA calculator, and learning tools to help students understand concepts instead of just memorizing them.
At the beginning, we did not have everything figured out especially the content side. We had to build everything from scratch, structure the lessons ourselves, and figure out how to make complex topics simple and understandable. It was a learning process for all of us.
A few days ago, we finally launched the app, and it is currently live on the Play Store. It is still early days, and there is still a lot we want to improve, especially in terms of content quality and user experience, but getting to this stage already means a lot.
EngX Academia is not just an app to me. It represents a simple idea: students should not struggle alone with difficult courses when better learning tools can exist. If we can make one tough course easier for a student, then we are moving in the right direction.
I want to give a big shoutout to my team from design to ideas to execution. This would not have been possible without them. If you are a FUTO student or know someone who is, I would really appreciate it if you checked it out and shared feedback.
We are just getting started.
