I got removed from Reddit 12
times before my SaaS made $9,000 in a month. Here’s the honest story.

For a long time I thought Reddit just hated founders.

I’d spend weeks building, write a post, hit publish, and watch it disappear within minutes. My first posts were all the same: a link, a feature list, and no context. They got removed, ignored, or downvoted. One of them got me banned from a community I actually liked.

Then I did something boring. I stopped posting and started reading.

I read the rules of every subreddit before touching the post button. Some only allow self-promo in weekly threads, and some want a disclosure. Once I actually followed that, a lot of problems went away.

I stopped chasing the big subreddits and looked for small ones where people were already describing the exact problem my product solves. I answered their questions with no links at all. I did that for about [X weeks] before I posted anything of my own.

When I finally posted, I didn’t pitch. I wrote about what I’d built, what broke, and what I got wrong. Those posts got real discussion. The “check out my tool” ones kept getting deleted.

And I stopped dropping links in comments. If someone was curious, they clicked my profile on their own.

This month my SaaS made $9,000, and Reddit was my biggest source of customers. No ad spend.

Revenue this month: $9,000
Share from Reddit: 90%
Signups from Reddit: 119
Posts removed along the way:

I’m not saying this is guaranteed. Results depend on your product and your niche, and you’ll still get a post removed now and then. But I got far fewer once I stopped acting like an advertiser.

If you want to test this, drop a post of yours that got removed or ignored (subreddit + title) in the comments. I’ll tell you what likely went wrong and how I’d rewrite it. Free.

Disclosure: I also wrote a short paid playbook on this process. It’s in my profile if you’re curious, but you don’t need it for the feedback.

Here is my marketing strategy that helps me to get customers without ads or bans.

Land Your First 10 Customers This Week Using Reddit

Struggling to get your first customers for your startup? Reddit might be the opportunity you're overlooking.

Here's why Reddit deserves a place in your growth strategy:

🎯 Reach your target audience: Find subreddits where your ideal customers already discuss the problems your product solves.

🔥 Connect with people who need your solution: Instead of chasing random traffic, join conversations where people are actively looking for answers.

💰 Grow without paid ads: Build visibility through genuinely helpful contributions rather than relying entirely on advertising.

🤝 Build trust before selling: Answer questions, share insights, and demonstrate your expertise before introducing your product when relevant.

🛡️ Promote without getting banned: Understand subreddit rules, avoid spam, and use a value-first promotion strategy.

Reddit isn't just another social platform. It's a place where your potential customers are already talking about their problems.

The key? Help first. Promote strategically. Convert naturally.
