I've backed Hackernoon to move off Medium recently, so I totally understand where he's coming from.</p> <p>I have personally just joined Medium as a content creator a few weeks ago and didn't notice the default paywall setting until the post. I wrote this <a href="https://medium.com/sand-hill-road/yaaas-mary-meekers-internet-trends-report-2019-is-out-36d1398a595e">post</a> on Mary Meeker's Internet Trends Report 2019 yesterday, and now opted for not having it behind the paywall. I saw an immediate drop in referrals from Medium itself. </p> <p>I also publish in parallel on a WP site. Not sure where to go from here, for the open-source/dev-related content I'm considering publishing here instead of Medium going forward. </p> <p>Let's see and happy to be part of this community now either way. </p>
