Where My Programs' Code Lives: Open on SourceCraft

People are rightly cautious when they download a program from a developer they do not know: who made it, what is inside, will it harm the computer. One honest way to answer those questions is to keep the source code open. The source code of my programs lives on a platform called SourceCraft (sourcecraft.dev).

 What SourceCraft is

SourceCraft is a place for storing the source code of programs (repositories). It works much like the well-known GitHub: a developer uploads the code, the history of changes, and a description of the project, and anyone can look at all of it. It is not a file host and not a store — it is where the code itself lives.

 What is there from me

SourceCraft holds the projects my Windows programs are built from — Screen Recorder and Kadrik — as well as the code of the website itself. So it is not a pile of scattered files, but an open workshop where you can see how the programs are made and who maintains them.

 Why this matters to you

You can see who stands behind the software. It is not an anonymous file from an unknown site. There is an author, a name, and accountability.

The code can be inspected. A technical person (or a developer friend) can open the sources and check that there is nothing unwanted inside.

The history is visible. You can tell the project is alive — maintained and fixed — not abandoned a year ago.

The programs are paid, but you can try them for free

The programs themselves are paid. But each one has a free 3-day demo — with no feature limits and no watermarks. Download it, try it on your own tasks, and only then decide whether you need the full version. My goal is for you to download the demo with peace of mind and see for yourself that everything works honestly.

See my programs

 About safety — honestly

The programs run only on your computer.

They do not perform any actions with your money.

They do not send your data anywhere.

Open code on SourceCraft is one more confirmation of these words: if you wish, it can all be checked.

 In short

The source code of my programs is open on SourceCraft (sourcecraft.dev).

That builds trust: you can see the author, the code, and the project history.

The programs are paid, but there is a free 3-day demo — download it and check for yourself.

My Account Is Certified by Google for Advertising Desktop Software

When you buy a program from a small independent developer, you want to know: does this person actually understand advertising and promotion? That question matters as much as trusting the program itself. So an important step for me is that my account is certified by Google for advertising desktop software.

What the Google Ads certification is

Google Ads is Google's advertising platform (ads in Search and the partner network). Google runs training and exams in different areas and issues an official certificate on completion. One of them is Advertising Desktop Software (Desktop Software). It confirms that a person knows the advertising tools and how to use them by Google's rules — not just "pushing buttons".

 What exactly the certificate confirms

Core knowledge of the advertising platform. How campaigns, bids, audiences, and reports work.

Knowledge of the rules. Ads must lead to an honest site and describe the product truthfully — the certificate is granted to those who understand these rules.

Compliance with Google's requirements. The exam is not a formality — you have to pass it.

 Why this matters to you

The certificate is not a guarantee of the program's quality. But it is a sign that a real person stands behind the site — someone who understands promotion and works openly, by the rules of a major platform. For me it is one more way to remove your doubts before downloading the demo: the advertising is set up properly, not carelessly.

The programs are paid, but you can try them for free

The programs themselves are paid. But each one has a free 3-day demo — with no feature limits and no watermarks. Download it, try it on your own tasks, and only then decide whether you need the full version.

 About safety — honestly

The programs run only on your computer.

They do not perform any actions with your money.

They do not send your data anywhere.

 In short

My account is certified by Google for advertising desktop software.

The certificate confirms knowledge of Google Ads tools and their rules.

The programs are paid, but there is a free 3-day demo — download it and check for yourself.

My Programs Are Now Advertised on Microsoft (Bing)

I make small Windows programs, and the hardest part for any independent developer is simply getting people to find out the program exists. So I took the next step: my programs are now advertised through Microsoft Advertising — Microsoft's advertising system that shows ads in Bing search.

 What Microsoft Advertising is

It is Microsoft's official advertising platform (ads.microsoft.com). When someone searches in Bing for, say, "screen recording software", they may see a link to my site among the results. Bing is built into Windows and the Edge browser, so it is used by many people around the world.

 Why I did this

So the programs can be found. People search for a solution to their task — and can land on my simple app right away.

So people reach the site to download the demo. The ad leads to the program page, where you can try it for free.

To reach an international audience. Many Bing users are from the US and Europe, and I have an English version of the site.

 Why this matters for trust

Advertising on a major platform is not handed out blindly: Microsoft vets advertisers and the sites their ads point to. That is not a guarantee of the program's quality, but it is a sign that a real author stands behind the site — not some random throwaway page.

The programs are paid, but there is a free demo

The programs themselves are paid, but each one has a free 3-day demo — with no feature limits and no watermarks. The ads are not there to chase numbers; they are there so you can calmly download the demo and decide for yourself whether the program suits you.

 In short

My programs are now advertised through Microsoft Advertising in Bing search.

The goal is for more people to find the programs and calmly download the demo.

My Screen Recorder Is Now Advertised on Yandex Direct

I make small Windows programs, and the hardest part for any independent developer is simply getting people to find out the program exists. So I took another step: my screen recorder is now advertised through Yandex Direct — Yandex's advertising system that shows ads in Yandex search.

 What Yandex Direct is

Yandex Direct is Yandex's official advertising platform (direct.yandex.ru). When someone searches in Yandex for, say, “screen recording software”, they may see a link to my site among the top results, marked as an ad. Yandex is used by millions of people in Russia, so it is a convenient way to show the program to exactly the people who need it.

 What I set up there

The screen recorder is advertised. The ad leads to the program page where you can download the demo.

Shown in Russia only. The campaign targets the Russian audience searching in Russian.

Desktop only. The program runs on Windows, so the ad is shown to people on computers and laptops, not phones.

Pay for the result. I pay not just for impressions, but for a useful action — when a person downloads the demo.

 Why I did this

So the program can be found. People search for a solution to their task — and can land on my simple app right away.

So people reach the site to download the demo. The main goal is for a person to calmly try the program.

So the budget is not wasted. Paying for downloads rather than empty impressions means the budget goes to real interest.

 Why this matters for trust

Advertising on a major platform is not handed out blindly: Yandex vets advertisers and the sites their ads point to through moderation. That is not a guarantee of the program's quality, but it is a sign that a real author stands behind the site — not some random throwaway page.

The program is paid, but there is a free demo

The program itself is paid, but it has a free demo — you can download and try it before you decide. The ads are not there to chase numbers; they are there so you can calmly download the demo and decide for yourself whether the program suits you.

My screen recorder is now advertised through Yandex Direct in Yandex search.

Shown in Russia only, on desktop only, paying per demo download.

VirusTotal — how to check a program for viruses before downloading

Before downloading a program you want to be sure the file is clean. The free service VirusTotal helps with that. Here is how to use it and how to read the report.

 What VirusTotal is

VirusTotal is a free online service that runs a file through 70+ antivirus engines at once and shows the overall result. The report is public — anyone can view it.

 Why it matters

I scanned each of my programs on VirusTotal and published links to the reports. So you can see for yourself that the file is clean, instead of taking my word for it.

Why one or two engines sometimes flag the file

Out of 70+ engines, one or two may flag the file. This is a false positive — common for small programs without an expensive signing certificate. All major engines (Microsoft Defender, Kaspersky, ESET and others) consider the files clean.

How to open the report yourself

Go to the Security page.

Press the “Open report” button next to the program you need.

The real report opens on the official virustotal.com site.

 In short

VirusTotal lets you confirm a file is clean. One or two false positives are normal for a small author — what matters is that the report is open.

Open the security reports

GitHub — why my programs live on GitHub and why it is safe

People are rightly cautious about downloading a program from “somewhere on the internet.” That is why the installers for my programs live on the well-known platform GitHub. Here is why that is reliable.

 What GitHub is

GitHub is a large global platform where developers keep the code of their programs and publish ready-to-use versions for download. It is the industry standard.

Why I host the files there

Openness. The file is not on some random site, but on a well-known platform.

Version history. You can see when each version came out and what changed.

Always the latest version. You download the newest release, not an outdated file.

 It is safe

The download comes from GitHub itself over a secure connection. You can also check that the files are clean on the Security page — it has the VirusTotal reports.

How to download the latest version

Open the page of the program you need on my site.

Press the download button — it leads to the Releases section on GitHub.

Download the file from the latest release and run it.

 Which programs

Screen Recorder

lava.top — how to pay for software with a foreign card (Visa / Mastercard)

If you are outside Russia or you have a card from a foreign bank, you can pay for my programs via lava.top. Here is what it is and how the payment works, in plain words.

 What lava.top is

lava.top is a payment service that makes it easy to accept payments with foreign cards. For buyers in Russia I use Prodamus, while lava.top is meant for buyers from abroad.

 Who it is for

You have a Visa or Mastercard from a foreign bank.

You pay from another country where the Russian “Mir” card does not work.

Is it safe to enter a card

Yes. You enter card details on lava.top side, not on my website. The site never sees or stores your card number. The connection is encrypted (the padlock icon in your browser).

 Currency and price

For international buyers the price is shown in a currency on the payment page. The currency itself is secondary — what matters is that your card payment goes through.

How the payment works, step by step

Pick a program and press the pay button for foreign cards.

A lava.top page opens with the amount.

Enter your card details and confirm the payment.

You get access to the full version of the program.

 Which programs this works for

Screen Recorder — one-click screen recording with sound.

Kadrik — splits a video into sharp frames.

Diktik — turns speech into text.

Each program has a free demo — try it first, then decide about buying.

 In short

If a “Mir” card does not fit, pay with a foreign Visa / Mastercard via lava.top — it is safe and the site never sees your card details.

See my programs

How to Make a Photo from a Video on a Computer

Sometimes you need a single still picture from a video: a cover image, a photo of a moment, or a frame for a report. Below is how to make a photo from a video on your computer and get a sharp frame instead of a blurry one.

 Way 1. A screenshot from a video

The simplest option: pause the video and take a screenshot of the screen. It works, but there are downsides — you capture the whole screen (with the player controls), and the quality is lower than the original frame. Fine for a quick note, not great for a cover image.

 Way 2. The VLC player

The free VLC player can save the current frame as a picture: Video → Take Snapshot. It saves a clean frame without the player controls. The downside is that you still have to catch a sharp moment by hand and dig through the menus.

 Way 3. A simple program

If you need not one frame but several good ones — or you simply do not want to catch the right moment by hand — use the Kadrik program. Drag the video into the window, and it will pull sharp frames from the video on its own: it finds scene changes and keeps the sharp frames, skipping the blurry duplicates. The pictures are saved to the desktop in the Mamonov/Kadrik folder, and the video itself never leaves your computer.

More about the Kadrik program

 Which format to save in

For photos and covers, JPG is a good choice — the file is light and opens everywhere. If you need maximum sharpness with no compression, use PNG. Kadrik saves frames as ready-made pictures, so there is nothing else to set up.

 FAQ

How do I grab a frame from a video without losing quality?**Take the frame from the video file itself (not a photo of the screen), choose a sharp moment and save without heavy compression.

Why is my frame blurry?****Most likely there is motion in the frame — that is normal for video. Pick a frame where the picture is “frozen”, or let the program choose the sharp ones for you.

Can I grab several frames at once?**
Yes. That is exactly what Kadrik is for: it lays the clip out into frames and keeps the sharp ones.

 In short

One quick frame — a screenshot or VLC.

A clean frame without the player controls — VLC.

Several sharp frames with no fuss — Kadrik.

How to Record an Online Meeting with Sound

The call is over — and a day later you can no longer recall who promised what and by when. Sound familiar? The most reliable way not to miss anything is to record the whole meeting, together with the sound. Here is how to do it on an ordinary computer in a couple of clicks, with no complex setup.

 Why record online meetings

A recording comes in handy more often than you might think:

Go back to what was agreed. No need to ask colleagues again — it is all in the video.

Show it to those who could not attend. You send the file and the person is up to date, without arranging the meeting again.

Keep the training. A webinar, a walkthrough or an online lesson can be rewatched any time.

Settle disputes. A recording is an honest witness of what was actually discussed.

What usually gets in the way

It seems like you just press a button and you are done. But in practice it comes down to the small things:

Built-in recording is not in every app, and where it exists it is often available only to the host.

It records not the whole screen, but only the meeting window.

The most common trouble — there is video but no sound. Either only you are heard, or only the other person.

Because of this, people waste time on settings instead of simply saving the conversation.

How to record a meeting in a couple of clicks

The easiest way is to use a separate screen recorder — it does not depend on whether you use Zoom, Teams or Google Meet. It works the same with all of them.

Open the Screen Recorder program.

Turn on sound recording — both the microphone (your voice) and the system sound (the other person's voice). It is a single checkbox.

Press Record and calmly hold your meeting. The program will capture both the picture and all the sound.

Press Save — the finished video file stays on your computer.

No host rights, no clouds. Everything is recorded right on your machine, and the file belongs only to you.

Download Screen Recorder

Important: let people know you are recording

Before you press Record, tell the other participants that recording is in progress. It is not just a matter of courtesy — in many cases it is not allowed to record a conversation without the participants' knowledge. A short phrase like "Everyone, I am recording the meeting so we do not miss anything" settles the matter. People are fine with it when they have been told.

 Frequently asked questions

Will the other person's voice be recorded?**Yes. If you enable system sound recording, the file will capture everything coming from the speakers — both your words and the words of the other participants.

Can I record without host rights?****Yes. The program records your screen independently of the meeting, so host rights are not needed.

What format is the video saved in?****In a regular video file that opens on any computer and is easy to send to colleagues.

Does it work on Windows 10 and 11?**
Yes, the program is designed for modern versions of Windows.

 In short

Recording an online meeting is not a hard task for "techies" but a matter of a couple of clicks. Turn on sound recording, press Record, hold your conversation, press Save. And you no longer have to keep everything in your head or ask colleagues again. Try it yourself — the program can be downloaded and tested for free.

Download Screen Recorder
