      <description>&lt;p&gt;Air quality prediction is a global hot issue, and PM2.5 is an important factor affecting air quality. Due to complicated causes of formation, PM2.5 prediction is a thorny and challenging task. In this paper, a novel deep learning model named temperature-based deep belief networks (TDBN) is proposed to predict the daily concentrations of PM2.5 for the next day. Firstly, the location of PM2.5 concentration prediction is Chaoyang Park in Beijing of China from January 1, 2018 to October 27, 2018. The auxiliary variables are selected as input variables of TDBN by Partial Least Square (PLS), and the corresponding data is divided into three independent sections training samples, validating samples and testing samples. IBET762 Secondly, the TDBN is composed of temperature-based restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM), where temperature is considered as an effective physical parameter in energy balance of training RBM. The structural parameters of TDBN are determined by minimizing the error in the training process, including hidden layers number, hidden neurons and value of temperature. Finally, the testing samples are used to test the performance of the proposed TDBN on PM2.5 prediction, and the other similar models are tested by the same testing samples for convenience of comparison with TDBN. The experimental results demonstrate that TDBN performs better than its peers in root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE) and coefficient of determination (R2).Generative adversarial networks have achieved remarkable performance on various tasks but suffer from training instability. Despite many training strategies proposed to improve training stability, this issue remains as a challenge. In this paper, we investigate the training instability from the perspective of adversarial samples and reveal that adversarial training on fake samples is implemented in vanilla GANs, but adversarial training on real samples has long been overlooked. Consequently, the discriminator is extremely vulnerable to adversarial perturbation and the gradient given by the discriminator contains non-informative adversarial noises, which hinders the generator from catching the pattern of real samples. Here, we develop adversarial symmetric GANs (AS-GANs) that incorporate adversarial training of the discriminator on real samples into vanilla GANs, making adversarial training symmetrical. The discriminator is therefore more robust and provides more informative gradient with less adversarial noise, thereby stabilizing training and accelerating convergence. The effectiveness of the AS-GANs is verified on image generation on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, CelebA, and LSUN with varied network architectures. Not only the training is more stabilized, but the FID scores of generated samples are consistently improved by a large margin compared to the baseline. Theoretical analysis is also conducted to explain why AS-GAN can improve training. The bridging of adversarial samples and adversarial networks provides a new approach to further develop adversarial networks.In this paper, we propose a new face de-identification method based on generative adversarial network (GAN) to protect visual facial privacy, which is an end-to-end method (herein, FPGAN). First, we propose FPGAN and mathematically prove its convergence. Then, a generator with an improved U-Net is used to enhance the quality of the generated image, and two discriminators with a seven-layer network architecture are designed to strengthen the feature extraction ability of FPGAN. Subsequently, we propose the pixel loss, content loss, adversarial loss functions and optimization strategy to guarantee the performance of FPGAN. In our experiments, we applied FPGAN to face de-identification in social robots and analyzed the related conditions that could affect the model. Moreover, we proposed a new face de-identification evaluation protocol to check the performance of the model. This protocol can be used for the evaluation of face de-identification and privacy protection. Finally, we tested our model and four other methods on the CelebA, MORPH, RaFD, and FBDe datasets. The results of the experiments show that FPGAN outperforms the baseline methods.Histone variants are a universal means to alter the biochemical properties of nucleosomes, implementing local changes in chromatin structure. In addition to information on the concept of maintenance therapy, this review provides an update on current and emerging approaches that target maintenance treatment in advanced-stage CTCL. METHODS The study recruited 113 healthy myopic subjects (113 eyes). Images of the macula, subfoveal choroid, and optic nerve head were acquired using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). An automatic segmentation algorithm was used to segment the macular images into 7 intraretinal layers. PPA widths with and without Bruch's membrane (PPA+BM and PPA-BM, respectively) were evaluated. Linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate the association between macular intraretinal thickness and axial length and the microstructure of PPA. RESULTS An increase in axial length was associated with a decrease in whole macular thickness of the peripheral region and an increase in whole macular thickness of the central region. Thickness alterations of the macular intraretinal layers were most apparent in the peripheral region. A significant correlation was found between PPA-BM width and macular intraretinal layer thickness, whereas no significant correlation was found between PPA+BM width and macular intraretinal layer thickness. Moreover, both PPA+BM and PPA-BM widths significantly correlated with subfoveal choroidal thickness. CONCLUSIONS Macular intraretinal layer thickness may be affected by PPA-BM width. These findings indicate that the microstructure of PPA should be considered when evaluating the macula in patient with myopia and glaucoma.BACKGROUND We aimed to demonstrate the contribution of anti-inflammatory and anti-virulence effects of azithromycin (AZM) in ocular surface infection treatment. METHODS Staphylococcus aureus was injected into the corneal stroma of rabbits to induce keratitis. AZM at concentrations of 0.01, 0.1, and 1% was instilled into the eye twice daily. The eyes were examined using a slit lamp and scored. The viable bacteria in the cornea were counted at 48 h post infection. To evaluate the anti-inflammatory efficacy of AZM, S. aureus culture supernatant-induced anterior ocular inflammation in rabbit was examined using a slit lamp and scored. To evaluate the inhibitory effect of AZM on bacterial toxin production, S. aureus was cultured with AZM and hemolytic reaction in the culture supernatant was determined. RESULTS In the bacterial keratitis model, AZM dose-dependently inhibited the increase in the clinical score. The viable bacterial count in the cornea treated with 1% AZM significantly decreased compared with that of the vehicle, whereas bacterial count in 0.01 and 0.1% AZM-treated corneas was similar to that of the vehicle. In the anterior ocular inflammation model, 0.1 and 1% AZM inhibited the increase in the clinical score. AZM inhibited hemolytic reaction at concentrations that did not inhibit bacterial growth. CONCLUSIONS The results demonstrated that AZM has not only anti-bacterial, but also anti-inflammatory effects, and inhibits bacterial toxin production leading to ocular surface damage in bacterial infection. Thus, the therapeutic effect of AZM against ocular infections is expected to be higher than that which could be assumed if it only had anti-bacterial activity.BACKGROUND Current evidence for the effectiveness of post-stroke cognitive rehabilitation is weak, possibly due to two reasons. First, patients typically express cognitive deficits in several domains. Therapies focusing on specific cognitive deficits might not address their interrelated neurological nature. Second, co-occurring psychological problems are often neglected or not diagnosed, although post-stroke depression is common and related to cognitive deficits. This pilot trial aims to test a rehabilitation program in virtual reality that trains various cognitive domains in conjunction, by adapting to the patient's disability and while investigating the influence of comorbidities. METHODS Thirty community-dwelling stroke patients at the chronic stage and suffering from cognitive impairment performed 30 min of daily training for 6 weeks. The experimental group followed, so called, adaptive conjunctive cognitive training (ACCT) using RGS, whereas the control group solved standard cognitive tasks at home for a p less then  .01) and (Ws = 92, z = - 2.03, r = - .44, p less then  .05). This study aimed to examine the level of self-management practices, and the relationship with socio-demographic factors, HL and PA among multi-morbid COPD patients from rural Nepal. METHODS This is a cross-sectional study conducted between July 2018 and January 2019. Patients completed a survey, including Self-management Practices questionnaire (SMPQ), five domains of the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ), and Patient Activation Measure (PAM). The relationship between HL, PAM, and SMPs was examined using univariate statistics.       <description>&lt;p&gt;These limitations necessitate the development of in vitro 3D human intestinal tissue models that recapitulate in vivo-like microenvironment and provide more physiologically relevant cellular responses so that they can better predict the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals and toxicants. Over the past decade, much progress has been made in the development of in vitro intestinal models (organoids and 3D-organotypic tissues) using either inducible pluripotent or adult stem cells. Among the models, the MatTek's intestinal tissue model (EpiIntestinal™ Ashland, MA) has been used extensively by the pharmaceutical industry to study drug permeation, metabolism, drug-induced GI toxicity, pathogen infections, inflammation, wound healing, and as a predictive model for a clinical adverse outcome (diarrhea) to pharmaceutical drugs. In this paper, our review will focus on the potential of in vitro small intestinal tissues as preclinical research tool and as alternative to the use of animals.Three dimensional (3D) organ-like (organotypic) culture models are a rapidly advancing area of in vitro biological science. In contrast to monolayer cell culture methods which were developed to achieve proliferation of animal cells in the beginning of in vitro biology, the advancements in 3D culture methods are designed to promote cellular differentiation, and to achieve in vivo-like 3D structure and organotypic functions. This project was conceived through the Society for In Vitro Biology to draw on the expertise of individual scientists with special expertise in organotypic cultures of selected tissues or associated interrogation methods to prepare individual-focused reviews in this series. This introductory manuscript will review the early achievements of animal cell culture in monolayer culture and the limitations of that approach to reproduce functioning organ systems. Among these are the nature and 3D architecture of the substrate on which or in which the cells are grown, physical and mechanical clues from the substrate, cell-cell interactions, and defined biochemical factors that trigger the induction of the 3D organotypic differentiation. The organoid culture requires a source of cells with proliferative capacity (ranging from tissue-derived stem or immortalized cells to the iPSC cultures), a suitable substrate or matrix with the mechanical and stimulatory properties appropriate for the organotypic construct and the necessary stimulation of the culture to drive differentiation of the cell population to form the functioning organotypic construct. Details for each type of organotypic construct will be provided in the following papers. &lt;br&gt;
 Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT), a mesenchymal fibroblastic tumor with a hypervascular nature, rarely develops in the pelvis. Resection of a giant SFT occupying the pelvic cavity poses an increased risk of developing massive hemorrhage during resection, although surgical resection is the most effective treatment method for this tumor to achieve a potential cure. SFT rarely develops with Doege-Potter syndrome, which is known as a paraneoplastic syndrome characterized by non-islet cell tumor hypoglycemia (NICTH) secondary to SFT that secretes insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II). We present a case of a giant pelvic SFT with Doege-Potter syndrome, which was successfully treated with transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) followed by surgical resection. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A 46-year-old woman presented with a disorder of consciousness due to refractory hypoglycemia. Images of the pelvis showed a giant and heterogeneously hypervascular mass displacing and compressing the rectum. Endocrinological evaluation revealed low serum leoglycemia in Doege-Potter syndrome. &lt;br&gt;
Preoperative angiography followed by TAE is an exceedingly helpful method to reduce intraoperative hemorrhage when planning to resect SFT occupying the pelvic cavity. Complications related to ischemia should be kept in mind after TAE, which needs to be planned within 1 or 2 days before surgery. TAE for tumors may be an option in addition to medical and surgical treatment for persistent hypoglycemia in Doege-Potter syndrome.The aim of the present study was to investigate the toxicity effects of cadmium-nickel (Cd-Ni) after single and mixtures exposures over the macrophyte Lemna gibba. Effects were assessed on growth, as frond number and fresh weight and biochemical parameters, such as total protein content and activity of antioxidant enzymes. Plants were exposed to single Cd and Ni in concentrations that ranged between 0.13-33 mg/L and 0.18 and 11.82 mg/L, respectively. find more For binary mixtures, individual metal IC50 values were used for selection of the evaluated concentrations. As an understanding of the apparent nature is imperative to facilitate inter-study data comparability, the current work was performed to systematically evaluate the influence of 3 image analysis strategies and 2 experimental parameters (sample volume and cooling rate) on TCloud,app detection of lysozyme. Different image analysis strategies showed that TCloud,app is detectable by means of total pixel intensity difference and the total number of white pixels, but the latter is also able to extract the ice nucleation temperature. Simple and effective titration algorithms involving the use of basal insulin, which has the lowest hypoglycemia risk, that can be individualized by physicians and easily followed by patients aid in tackling titration inertia. Omilancor in vitro In this context, insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100) appears to be the ideal insulin to overcome titration inertia, owing to its low risk of hypoglycemia and effective glycemic control. Different guidelines recommend the use of basal insulin, such as Gla-100, and encourage a patient-centric approach for dose titration. Although the effective implementation of the patient-centric approach in India is challenging, it is nevertheless achievable.Early insulin initiation benefits people with diabetes by inducing a rapid and sustained glycemic control along with preventing the onset of adverse legacy effects early in the disease course. This has an over-arching effect as it could possibly modify the disease course and prevent the development of vascular complications, as has been attested to in landmark studies like the UKPDS and GRACE. Insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100) has been extensively studied under various scenarios as the initial insulin administered early in T2DM disease course, registering significant glycemic and vascular benefits over the standard of care. By virtue of its ease of use and better safety profile, basal insulin like Gla-100 has been recommended by various international and Indian guidelines as the go-to initial insulin in people with diabetes. Further, the ability to personalize the initiating dose basis one's HbA1c and weight is an additional feature that contributes to the scientific merit of initiating with basal insulin like Gla-100. However, early insulin initiation is mostly delayed owing to 'clinical inertia,' thereby causing an evitable glycemic burden. Therefore, physicians managing diabetes must aim to increase acceptance, persistence, and adherence to insulin therapy by focusing on the safety, simplicity, and convenience of therapies.Fueled by perceptions regarding Indian dietary patterns and premixed insulin's claim to fame of providing dual fasting and post-prandial control, there was a greater inclination towards using premixed insulins in clinical practice until the last decade. However, the advent of insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100) opened up a new dimension in insulin therapy landscape in India. The data from the last 5 years reveal that Gla-100 has gained more traction among Indian clinical practitioners. Basis evidences that have emerged from various clinical studies, this present review elaborates on certain key issues which have helped Gla-100 carve its own niche and effected a progressive shift in insulin prescription pattern in India.The progressive nature of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) renders the shifting of patients from oral drugs to insulin therapy an inevitability in most patients especially in those with long duration of diabetes. At the turn of the last millennium, neutral protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin was still the only long-acting insulin available for people with diabetes. The advent of the first truly long-acting basal insulin, i.e. insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100) brought to the table a remarkably long duration of action and a very minimal risk of hypoglycemia by due to less pronounced peaks in their action profile. Further, in trying to achieve fasting normoglycemia, Gla-100 has demonstrated remarkably more holistic glucose-lowering efficacy in several pivotal trials compared to other insulin formulations, such as premixed insulin and coformulations-apart from NPH insulin. This article delineates clinical data on the effectiveness of Gla-100 vs. other insulin formulations in the context of T2DM.Ever since the discovery of insulin a century ago, relentless attempts have been made to develop insulins that closely mimic the timeaction- profile of human physiologic insulin. The early basal insulins like neutral protamine Hagedorn (NPH), were intermediate-acting, with high risk of hypoglycemia. These primary limitations led to attempts at developing improved basal insulins with a longer duration of action. After several attempts at prolonging insulin action using phenol and structural modifications of the insulin hexamer, insulin glargine was developed in 1988. The superior and unique pharmacological properties, longer duration of action, and significantly lowered risk of hypoglycemia enabled insulin glargine to be distinguished from NPH as a better basal insulin, providing holistic glycemic control. The present review highlights the circumstances that led to the search of truly basal insulins, focusing on the journey of insulin glargine 100 U/mL (Gla-100).Prior to the discovery of insulins, diabetes was managed predominantly by dietary interventions. Discovery of insulin and its first human trial highlighted the need for higher purity insulin thereby steering the subsequent journey of insulin development. Considering the limitations of the early preparations like short duration of action and need for several injections per day, attempts at protracting the duration of insulin action were made. This led to the development of intermediate-acting Neutral Protamine Hagedorn (NPH) and the Lente family of insulins. This review provides insights into the discovery of insulins and the shortcomings of early protracted release preparations, which in turn, gave impetus to the search for a 'true' basal insulin, which could mimic the endogenous human basal insulin secretion.Post COVID-19 sequelae includes breathlessness, weakness, fatigue, decreased exercise tolerance and impaired quality of life. Physiotherapy based rehabilitation program is an essential component for post COVID-19 patients in facilitating maximum functional recovery. Expert consensus statements are available from the developed countries. There is a need for a guidelines to manage post COVID-19 sequelae in Indian context. The objective of this consensus statement is to provide evidence informed guidelines for post COVID-19 physiotherapy management as a component of pulmonary rehabilitation. This consensus statement was developed by expert panel across India. Published literatures were appraised and used to prepare the recommendations.
