ResQra: An AI Assisted Platform for Animal Welfare

What I Built

I built ResQra, an AI-assisted animal welfare platform that brings multiple aspects of animal care, protection, discovery,rescue, and support into a single ecosystem. Built using Antigravity , it serves as a platform for animal welfare

ResQra is designed to support animals across different situations — from an injured stray that needs immediate attention to a pet whose health records need to be managed, an animal looking for adoption, or wildlife and animal-welfare information that users want to explore.It can also be used for getting area alerts for nearby animal related incident incidents . It's aim is to make animal welfare and community coordination easier and more accessible.

The platform includes:

Animal Rescue & Emergency Reporting — users can report animals in distress using photos, location, and condition details.
AI-Powered Case Analysis — AI helps analyze submitted cases, validate animal-related images to check if the image really contains an animal and to verify possible duplicate cases, assess urgency level, suggest relevant actions, and provide basic emergency guidance.
Nearby Resource Discovery — users can discover relevant NGOs, veterinary services, shelters, and other resources.
Case Tracking & Duplicate Detection — reports can be tracked while related or potentially duplicate cases can be identified and grouped.Its community driven so if multiple users report it as a different case it gets flagged as a different report
Adoption — animals whose conditions are perfect can be listed for adoption.
Pet Healthcare — Per owners can maintain their pet health information such as vaccinations and health history, along with reminders for upcoming checkup dates and AI-assisted health summaries.
Wildlife Explorer — Casual Users who are interested in knowing about other animals can explore wildlife information including conservation status, habitat, diet, and safety-related information.
Animal-Welfare News & Insights — relevant news and incidents can be explored with information and visual insights. It keeps the user up to date with latest incidents.
Fundraising & Treatment Campaigns — A platform to raise funds for the animals in need .
Incident & Cluster Awareness — recurring incidents can be identified to help highlight patterns and areas requiring attention.For ex:if there are multiple reports in 10 km range it will flag the area as red zone and issues and alert near that area
-alerts-users will get alerts about nearby animal incidents like dog bite.also it display red zone if too much cases are documented in a particular area

The central idea behind ResQra is not to solve only one animal-related problem. It is to create a all in one platform for animal welfare . So whether you are a pet owner,a person who want to rescue animals or simply a casual user who wants to explore things,this platform is for you.

ResQra is a complete, mobile-first full-stack web application designed to connect citizens, animal welfare organisations (NGOs), veterinary hospitals, and municipal responders through real-time AI triage, spatial mapping, community duplicate verification, area alert clustering, pet management, wildlife education, and crowdfunding.

Originally conceived as an emergency response platform, ResQra is now actively maintained and is Open to Open Source Contribution.

How I Built It

I built the ResQra prototype using Google Antigravity, using an AI-assisted development workflow to turn the idea into a working web application.

I started by defining the overall structure of ResQra and breaking the platform into different modules.

Instead of trying to build everything at once, I developed the platform by prompting individual features. I used prompts to describe individual features and workflows, reviewed the generated implementation, tested the functionality, and then refined the application based on what worked and what needed improvement.

### Building the AI Workflow

A major focus was making AI a functional part of the application rather than simply adding a chatbot.

For animal reports, the application can use information such as the submitted image, location, and condition to analyze the situation and determine what type of response or workflow may be relevant.Unlike a simple chatbot that generate text ResQra selects the right tool depending on the situation.

For example, an injured animal can be directed toward an emergency or healthcare workflow, while an animal that is safe but needs a home can follow an adoption-related workflow.

I also worked on workflows for identifying related or duplicate reports and connecting users with relevant nearby resources.

This allowed me to focus heavily on the product logic, user experience, and AI workflows, while using AI-assisted development to accelerate the implementation of the prototype.

Why Does Open Innovation Matter?

Animal welfare is not a problem that can be solved by a single person, organization, or application. Different communities have different needs, and useful solutions often come from combining ideas, technologies, and experiences from different people.

This is why I believe open innovation is important for projects like ResQra. By sharing ideas, code, approaches, and feedback, developers can improve existing solutions instead of constantly starting from scratch.

For ResQra, an open approach also creates opportunities for different contributors to improve different parts of the platform .

The goal of open innovation is thus to create a system where ideas can be shared, improved, challenged, and built upon by a wider community.

For a real-world problem like animal welfare, that collaboration can ultimately lead to solutions that are more useful, accessible, and adaptable.

The Lazy Payoff

The biggest payoff of ResQra is reducing the effort between noticing an animal-welfare problem and figuring out what to do about it.

Instead of searching through different sources for NGOs, veterinary services, adoption opportunities, animal information, or other relevant resources, users can start from a single platform and let ResQra help identify the appropriate workflow.

For example, someone who finds an injured animal doesn't have to figure out from scratch whether the situation requires rescue, veterinary assistance, or another form of support. By providing the available information, ResQra can help analyze the situation and guide the user toward the relevant resources.

The same idea applies beyond resque and emergencies. Someone looking to adopt an animal, a pet owner who wants to find pet-health information,a casual user who wants to explore wildlife, discover animal-welfare news, or a good person who wants to support a treatment campaign can access these different workflows from the same platform.

Therefore , the goal is to reduce the friction, uncertainty, and time spent figuring out what to do next.
