Ditch GA4: How to Self-Host Umami Analytics on Vultr for GDPR-Compliant, Ultra-Fast Tracking

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) has become a major headache for developers, indie hackers, and privacy-conscious businesses. It is complex to configure, comes with a bloated JavaScript payload (~50KB+) that hurts your Lighthouse performance scores, and forces you to implement annoying cookie banners to stay compliant with GDPR and CCPA.

If you are looking for a lightweight, privacy-first, beautiful, and completely self-hosted alternative, look no further than Umami Analytics.

In this guide, we will walk you through how to deploy your own self-hosted Umami instance in under 10 minutes using Docker Compose on Vultr Cloud Compute, giving you total ownership of your data with virtually zero ongoing costs.

  Why Self-Host Umami Analytics?

Before diving into the code, let's look at why Umami is a superior choice for modern web applications:

Performance: The Umami tracking script is under 2KB. GA4 is over 50KB. Removing GA4 instantly improves your page load speed and Core Web Vitals.

Privacy & Compliance: Umami does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII), does not track users across websites, and does not use cookies. This means you do not need a cookie consent banner for analytics!

Modern UI: No deep nested menus. You get a clean, real-time dashboard displaying visitors, page views, bounce rates, referrers, browsers, and countries on a single screen.

Multi-Tenant & Multi-Site: You can track hundreds of websites and share access dashboards with clients or team members from a single installation.

  Prerequisites

To follow this guide, you will need:

A cloud server. We highly recommend using Vultr for this. Since Umami is highly optimized, you can run it perfectly on Vultr's entry-tier High Performance instances ($2.50 to $5/month).

Docker and Docker Compose installed on your server.

A domain name (e.g.,
analytics.yourdomain.com
) pointed to your server's IP address.

  Step 1: Launch Your Server on Vultr

Sign up or log into your Vultr Account.

Click Deploy Server.

Select Cloud Compute and choose a location closest to your target audience.

Choose Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your operating system.

Select the Regular Cloud Compute plan (the $5/month plan is more than enough to handle millions of monthly pageviews on Umami).

Add your SSH keys, click Deploy Now, and wait for your instance to spin up.

  Step 2: Connect and Install Docker

Once your server is ready, connect to it via SSH:

ssh root@your_vultr_server_ip

Update your packages and install Docker and Docker Compose:

# Update package lists
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

# Install Docker
sudo apt install docker.io -y

# Install Docker Compose
sudo apt install docker-compose-plugin -y

# Verify installations
docker --version
docker compose version

  Step 3: Configure Umami with Docker Compose

We will deploy Umami alongside a lightweight PostgreSQL database container to store your tracking data securely.

Create a new directory for your Umami installation:

mkdir ~/umami && cd ~/umami

Create a
docker-compose.yml
file:

nano docker-compose.yml

Paste the following production-ready configuration into the file:

version: '3.8'

services:
  umami-db:
    image: postgres:15-alpine
    container_name: umami-db
    environment:
      POSTGRES_DB: umami
      POSTGRES_USER: umami_admin
      POSTGRES_PASSWORD: super_secure_db_password_here # Change this!
    volumes:
      - pgdata:/var/lib/postgresql/data
    restart: always
    healthcheck:
      test: ["CMD-SHELL", "pg_isready -U umami_admin -d umami"]
      interval: 5s
      timeout: 5s
      retries: 5

  umami:
    image: ghcr.io/umami-software/umami:postgresql-latest
    container_name: umami
    ports:
      - "3000:3000"
    environment:
      DATABASE_URL: postgresql://umami_admin:super_secure_db_password_here@umami-db:5432/umami # Match your DB password!
      APP_SECRET: generate_a_random_long_string_here # Change this!
      TRACKER_SCRIPT_NAME: custom_tracker_name # Optional: custom script name to bypass adblockers (e.g. "metrics")
    depends_on:
      umami-db:
        condition: service_healthy
    restart: always

⚠️ Security Tip: Make sure to replace
super_secure_db_password_here
and
generate_a_random_long_string_here
with your own unique credentials before saving.

Save and close the file (
Ctrl+O
,
Enter
,
Ctrl+X
).

  Step 4: Run the Deployment

With your configuration in place, spin up the database and Umami containers in detached mode:

docker compose up -d

Umami will automatically handle the database migrations and table creation on the first startup. You can monitor the progress with:

docker compose logs -f umami

Once you see
Ready on http://localhost:3000
, your self-hosted analytics suite is running!

  Step 5: Reverse Proxy (Nginx) & SSL Setup (Optional but Recommended)

To access Umami securely over HTTPS (port 443) using your custom domain, install Nginx and Certbot:

sudo apt install nginx certbot python3-certbot-nginx -y

Create a new Nginx block for your Umami server:

sudo nano /etc/nginx/sites-available/umami

Paste the following configuration (replace
analytics.yourdomain.com
with your real subdomain):

server {
    listen 80;
    server_name analytics.yourdomain.com;

    location / {
        proxy_pass http://localhost:3000;
        proxy_set_header Host $host;
        proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
        proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
        proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme;
    }
}

Enable the configuration and reload Nginx:

sudo ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/umami /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/
sudo systemctl reload nginx

Run Certbot to obtain a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt:

sudo certbot --nginx -d analytics.yourdomain.com

Follow the on-screen prompts to configure HTTPS redirection. Your analytics dashboard is now secure!

  Step 6: Log In and Set Up Your First Website

Open your browser and navigate to
https://analytics.yourdomain.com
.

Log in using the default credentials:

Username:
admin

Password:
umami

IMPORTANT: Go straight to Settings -> Profile and change your admin password to protect your data!

Navigate to Websites, click Add Website, and enter your domain name.

Click Get Tracking Code, copy the lightweight script tag, and paste it into the
<head>
section of your website.

<!-- Example Umami Tracking Script -->
<script async defer src="https://analytics.yourdomain.com/script.js" data-website-id="your-unique-website-id"></script>

  Conclusion & Next Steps

  Introduction: The Zapier Tax is Real

If you’ve built any modern web application, SaaS product, or internal tooling, you know that automation is the glue holding everything together. Whether it's syncing user signups to a CRM, sending Slack notifications on database events, or routing incoming webhooks through an AI LLM, APIs need to talk to each other.

For years, Zapier and Make.com have been the go-to solutions for visual workflow builders. But they come with a massive catch: Task-based pricing.

As your business grows, your API operations scale exponentially. A simple three-step automation triggered 10,000 times a month can quickly push you into plans costing $100 to $300+ per month. That is a heavy "tax" on indie developers and bootstrapped startups.

Enter n8n—the leading open-source/fair-code workflow automation tool. n8n features an incredibly polished node-based visual interface, natively supports over 400 integrations (including advanced AI/LangChain nodes), and can be self-hosted completely free of charge.

In this guide, we will walk through how to deploy your own production-ready, self-hosted n8n instance on a secure cloud server for $0 upfront using DigitalOcean’s free developer tier.

  Why Self-Host n8n?

Uncapped Executions: Run thousands or millions of workflows monthly without paying a dime extra.

Privacy and Compliance: Your API keys, internal credentials, database connections, and customer data never leave your own server.

Run Custom Code: Execute JavaScript or Python code within your automation pipelines without cloud timeout restrictions.

Seamless AI Integrations: Easily chain together OpenAI, Anthropic, Vector Databases (like Pinecone/Chroma), and local LLMs natively inside your self-hosted instance.

  Prerequisites

Before we begin, you will need:

A domain name (e.g.,
n8n.yourdomain.com
) pointed to your server IP.

A basic understanding of the command line.

A VPS (Virtual Private Server). We will be using DigitalOcean for its reliable network, easy firewall rules, and rapid spinning up of Docker droplets.

🎁 Developer Deal: To remove all barriers, you can sign up using this link to get $200 in free credits valid for 60 days. This lets you run a high-performance VPS completely free while testing this guide:
👉 Claim your $200 DigitalOcean Free Credit

  Step 1: Provision Your Droplet

Log into your DigitalOcean console.

Click Create -> Droplets.

Choose Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your operating system.

Choose the Shared CPU -> Basic plan. For n8n, the $12/month (2 GB RAM / 1 vCPU) option is the sweet spot for handling concurrent workflows.

Choose your nearest datacenter region.

Add your SSH keys for secure access.

Click Create Droplet.

Once the Droplet is running, copy the public IP address.

  Step 2: Configure Your DNS

Navigate to your domain registrar (Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, etc.) and add an A Record pointing to your new Droplet IP:

Type:
A

Host:
n8n
(or
@
if using root domain)

Value:
YOUR_DROPLET_IP

TTL: Automatic or 3600

  Step 3: Install Docker and Docker Compose

SSH into your newly created Droplet:

ssh root@your_droplet_ip

Update your packages and install Docker alongside Docker Compose:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install -y docker.io docker-compose

Verify the installations:

docker --version && docker-compose --version

  Step 4: Configure the Production Docker Compose Setup

We will configure a highly secure, auto-restarting n8n service. We will also include Caddy inside our Compose stack. Caddy is a modern, lightweight web server that will automatically provision and renew our free SSL (HTTPS) certificate from Let's Encrypt.

Create a dedicated folder for n8n and navigate inside:

mkdir ~/n8n-setup && cd ~/n8n-setup

Create a
docker-compose.yml
file:

nano docker-compose.yml

Paste the following production configuration. Be sure to replace
your-domain.com
and
your-email@example.com
with your real data:

version: '3.8'

services:
  caddy:
    image: caddy:2-alpine
    restart: always
    ports:
      - "80:80"
      - "443:443"
    volumes:
      - caddy_data:/data
      - caddy_config:/config
    command: caddy reverse-proxy --from https://your-domain.com --to http://n8n:5678

  n8n:
    image: docker.n8n.io/n8nio/n8n:latest
    restart: always
    environment:
      - N8N_HOST=your-domain.com
      - N8N_PORT=5678
      - N8N_PROTOCOL=https
      - WEBHOOK_URL=https://your-domain.com/
      - GENERIC_TIMEZONE=UTC
    volumes:
      - n8n_data:/home/node/.n8n

volumes:
  caddy_data:
  caddy_config:
  n8n_data:

Press
CTRL + O
, then
Enter
to save, and
CTRL + X
to exit.

  Step 5: Launch Your Unlimited Automation Server!

With our domains pointed and our Docker Compose ready, we can launch n8n in detached (background) mode:

docker-compose up -d

Caddy will immediately detect your domain name, contact Let's Encrypt, request an SSL certificate, configure security protocols, and route traffic directly to n8n. This process takes about 30 seconds.

Check the status of your containers to make sure they are healthy:

docker-compose ps

  Step 6: Create Your Owner Account

Open your browser and navigate to your domain:

https://your-domain.com

You will be greeted by the n8n onboarding page!

Create your administrator email and password.

Configure your security preferences.

Start building workflows!

Now you can import workflows, install custom integrations, and run complex webhook cycles with zero execution costs.

  Managing Your n8n Instance (Useful Commands)

View real-time logs:

  docker-compose logs -f --tail=100

Stop the instance:

  docker-compose down

Update n8n to the latest version:

  docker-compose pull && docker-compose up -d

  Next Steps and Optimization

By leveraging open-source n8n on reliable, cheap infrastructure, you have reclaimed control over your software stack and saved hundreds of dollars.

As modern developers, indie hackers, and tech startups, workflow automation is the glue that keeps our operations running. Whether it is sending slack notifications on new database entries, piping inbound leads to a CRM, or building complex, multi-step AI agents using LangChain—automation is crucial.

But if you have ever used proprietary platforms like Zapier or Make, you already know the pain. You are hit with:

  Strict task limits that punish your growth.

  Payload limits that break when processing large datasets.

  High execution latency that delays time-sensitive webhooks.

  Privacy issues arising from sending sensitive customer data and API keys through third-party servers.

The industry-standard solution to this bottleneck is n8n—a powerful, node-based workflow automation tool. While they offer a cloud version, n8n is source-available and can be self-hosted entirely for free.

In this guide, we will walk you through deploying your own production-ready, self-hosted n8n instance on Vultr. By leveraging Vultr’s high-performance virtual machines, you ensure your webhook triggers are ultra-low latency and execution limits are a thing of the past.

  Why Self-Host n8n on Vultr?

Hosting automation pipelines requires a reliable hosting partner. A slight lag in webhook responses can cause external APIs to timeout or retry, creating duplicate executions.

We choose Vultr for several key reasons:

High-Frequency Compute Options: Built with fast NVMe storage and high-clock CPUs to process complex scripts and massive JSON objects instantly.

Global Footprint: Deploy close to your database and primary APIs to minimize network round-trips.

Cost Predictability: Avoid paying scaling taxes. You pay a flat VPS fee and run millions of tasks for free.

🎁 Exclusive Deal: You can spin up this entire stack for $0 upfront. Use our partner link to claim your free Vultr trial credits.

  Step-by-Step Deployment Guide

  Step 1: Provision your Vultr VPS

Log in to your Vultr Dashboard.

Click Deploy Server.

Select Cloud Compute (Shared vCPU is perfect for small-to-medium workflows; choose Optimized Cloud Compute for intensive workloads).

Pick a server location closest to your users or database.

Select Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your Operating System.

Choose your server size (1 GB RAM / 1 vCPU is enough to start, but 2 GB RAM is recommended if you run memory-heavy JS nodes or AI agents).

Add your SSH keys, click Deploy, and wait a minute for the IP address to be generated.

  Step 2: Configure Your Domain DNS

To secure your dashboard with Let's Encrypt SSL, you need a domain name pointed to your server.

  Go to your DNS provider (Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.).

  Create an A Record pointing to your new Vultr server IP address (e.g.,
n8n.yourdomain.com
).

  Step 3: Install Docker and Docker Compose

Once your server is running, SSH into it:

ssh root@your_vultr_ip

Update your packages and install Docker alongside Docker Compose:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install docker.io docker-compose -y

Verify the installation:

docker --version && docker-compose --version

  Step 4: Configure n8n with Docker Compose

To ensure your data and workflows persist through updates, we will configure n8n with a Docker volume and persistent environmental variables.

Create a dedicated directory:

mkdir ~/n8n && cd ~/n8n

Create a file named
docker-compose.yml
:

nano docker-compose.yml

Paste the following configuration. Make sure to replace
n8n.yourdomain.com
with your domain and update the
N8N_ENCRYPTION_KEY
to a random, secure string to safeguard your credential database:

version: '3.8'

services:
  n8n:
    image: docker.n8n.io/n8nio/n8n:latest
    restart: always
    ports:
      - "127.0.0.1:5678:5678"
    environment:
      - N8N_HOST=n8n.yourdomain.com
      - N8N_PORT=5678
      - N8N_PROTOCOL=https
      - NODE_ENV=production
      - WEBHOOK_URL=https://n8n.yourdomain.com/
      - N8N_ENCRYPTION_KEY=your_highly_secure_random_string_here
    volumes:
      - n8n_data:/home/node/.n8n

volumes:
  n8n_data:

Save and exit (
Ctrl + O
,
Enter
,
Ctrl + X
).

  Step 5: Secure Your Instance with Nginx and SSL

We'll use Nginx as a reverse proxy to route secure external HTTPS traffic to our local n8n Docker container.

Install Nginx and Certbot (for free SSL certificates):

sudo apt install nginx certbot python3-certbot-nginx -y

Create an Nginx server block configuration:

sudo nano /etc/nginx/sites-available/n8n

Paste this configuration:

server {
    listen 80;
    server_name n8n.yourdomain.com;

    location / {
        proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:5678;
        proxy_set_header Connection '';
        proxy_http_version 1.1;
        chunked_transfer_encoding off;
        proxy_buffering off;
        proxy_cache off;
        proxy_set_header Host $host;
        proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
        proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
        proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme;
    }
}

Enable the site and restart Nginx:

sudo ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/n8n /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/
sudo systemctl restart nginx

Run Certbot to request and automatically install a secure SSL certificate:

sudo certbot --nginx -d n8n.yourdomain.com

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the Let's Encrypt SSL registration.

  Step 6: Start Your n8n Automation Engine

Navigate back to your docker-compose directory and run the container in detached (background) mode:

cd ~/n8n
docker-compose up -d

That's it! Open your browser and navigate to
https://n8n.yourdomain.com
. You will be greeted by the initial setup wizard to create your admin account.

  Advanced: Scaling for Enterprise Automation

As your workflows scale, n8n can easily be modified to use an external PostgreSQL database on your Vultr instance instead of SQLite. This allows thousands of simultaneous executions without locking databases.

Simply add a postgres service block to your
docker-compose.yml
and connect it with the environment variables:

DB_TYPE=postgresdb

DB_POSTGRESDB_HOST=postgres

DB_POSTGRESDB_PORT=5432

This ensures enterprise-level durability for mission-critical syncs.

  Wrap Up

By self-hosting n8n on Vultr, you just bypassed some of the most expensive SaaS bills in the industry. You now possess a private, secure, and incredibly fast workflow automation platform that can run millions of automations for the flat price of your cloud compute.

  Stop Paying for Firebase: How to Self-Host Supabase on DigitalOcean for Free

Building an app or launching a startup used to mean writing backend code from scratch. Then came Firebase, and more recently, Supabase—offering real-time PostgreSQL databases, instant Auth, Storage, and Edge Functions.

But as your application scales, cloud platform limits quickly turn into massive monthly bills. Free tiers run dry, database storage limits kick in, and user authentication pricing starts to compound.

Fortunately, Supabase is open-source. You can host the entire ecosystem yourself—Postgres, Auth, Storage, Realtime, and the Studio GUI—on your own infrastructure.

In this guide, we'll walk through deploying your own production-ready, self-hosted Supabase instance. Best of all, you can do this with zero upfront cost by leveraging DigitalOcean's $200 Free Cloud Credits.

  Why Self-Host Supabase?

No Artificial Database Limits: Pay only for the raw SSD storage of your server, not per-gigabyte premium rates.

Unlimited Monthly Active Users (MAUs): Stop worrying about hitting user authentication caps.

Full Database Control: Direct access to your PostgreSQL database with pre-packaged extensions like
pgvector
for AI-powered applications.

Data Privacy: Keep all your user and application data strictly isolated on your own virtual private server (VPS).

  Step 1: Spin Up Your VPS on DigitalOcean

To run Supabase smoothly (including the Studio UI, Postgres, Kong, and GoTrue), you will need a VPS with at least 2 GB of RAM and 1 vCPU.

Sign up using the DigitalOcean $200 Free Trial Link to get $200 in free credits (valid for 60 days).

Create a new Droplet.

Choose Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or 24.04 LTS as the operating system.

Select the Basic Plan with a Regular SSD (the $12/month or $18/month tier is highly recommended for development/early production workloads).

Set up your SSH key for secure login and click Create Droplet.

  Step 2: Install Docker and Docker Compose

Once your Droplet is running, connect via SSH:

ssh root@YOUR_DROPLET_IP

Update your packages and install Docker alongside Docker Compose:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install docker.io docker-compose git -y

Verify the installation:

docker --version && docker-compose --version

  Step 3: Clone and Configure Supabase

Supabase maintains an official Docker repository that pre-configures all necessary microservices. Clone it directly onto your server:

# Clone the repository
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/supabase/supabase

# Navigate to the docker directory
cd supabase/docker

# Copy the template environment file
cp .env.example .env

  Step 4: Secure Your Environment Variables (Critical)

Before launching Supabase, you must update the default API keys and passwords to secure your instance.

Generate high-entropy random keys for your secrets. You can generate a safe string using your terminal:

# Generate a random 32-character string for passwords
openssl rand -hex 32

Open the configuration file:

nano .env

Find and update these specific variables:

POSTGRES_PASSWORD
: Change this to a highly secure custom password.

JWT_SECRET
: Update this to a secure, custom secret (used for securing user tokens).

ANON_KEY
: Replace this with a newly generated JWT containing anonymous access claims.

SERVICE_ROLE_KEY
: Replace this with a newly generated JWT containing service_role access claims.

(Tip: You can use Supabase's utility tools online to generate matching JWT payloads, or run the container generator tool specified in the Supabase documentation to safely populate the anon/service keys).

Save and exit (
Ctrl+O
,
Enter
,
Ctrl+X
).

  Step 5: Boot Up Supabase

With your
.env
configured, start all the backend services in detached mode:

docker-compose up -d

Docker will now pull the database, auth server, storage manager, API gateway (Kong), and Supabase Studio images. Once finished, run
docker ps
to verify all services are running stably.

docker ps

  Step 6: Access Your Dashboard

By default, the incredible Supabase Studio dashboard is exposed on port
8000
.

Open your browser and navigate to:

http://YOUR_DROPLET_IP:8000

You will be greeted with the fully functional, self-hosted Supabase Studio UI! From here, you can manage tables, run SQL queries, view users, and monitor storage buckets.

  Step 7: Connect Your App

To connect your web or mobile app (Next.js, React, Flutter, etc.) to your new self-hosted backend, simply swap out the cloud URL and public key in your Supabase Client initialization:

import { createClient } from '@supabase/supabase-js'

const supabaseUrl = 'http://YOUR_DROPLET_IP:8000'
const supabaseAnonKey = 'YOUR_NEW_ANON_KEY'

export const supabase = createClient(supabaseUrl, supabaseAnonKey)

  Going to Production: Important Next Steps

While running on a raw IP is fine for development, production environments require a few additional safeguards:

Add a Domain and SSL: Set up a reverse proxy like Nginx or Caddy to point your domain (e.g.,
supabase.yourdomain.com
) to port
8000
with automated Let's Encrypt SSL certificates.

UFW Firewall: Limit access to internal container ports. Ensure only ports
80
(HTTP),
443
(HTTPS), and your SSH port are accessible publicly.

Backups: Set up a simple cron job to run
pg_dump
on your Postgres database and upload backups to secure cold storage.

  Conclusion

Self-hosting Supabase puts the power back in your hands. You get a production-grade, highly reliable, modern Postgres database, real-time sync engine, and authentication layer with no arbitrary API call limits or scaling costs.

Take advantage of DigitalOcean's $200 Free Trial to spin up your instance today and start building restriction-free.

  The Shift to Private AI Orchestration

Building LLM-powered applications (like customer service agents, internal database query assistants, or automated content generators) has never been more popular. However, developers quickly run into two massive roadblocks when using proprietary cloud-based AI builders:

Prohibitive Pricing: SaaS tools charge per user seat, per runs, or add heavy markups on top of your LLM token usage.

Data Leakage & Privacy: Uploading internal company documents, customer records, and system schemas to external third-party platforms is a compliance nightmare.

Dify.ai is the answer to this problem. It is an open-source, enterprise-grade LLMOps platform that lets you visually build, test, and monitor multi-agent systems and RAG pipelines.

In this complete guide, we will walk you through deploying Dify on your own secure Virtual Private Server (VPS) for $0 upfront, using a DigitalOcean $200 Free Credit Link.

  Why Choose Dify Over Other Solutions?

While frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex are fantastic, writing thousands of lines of boilerplate code to handle chat histories, session states, and vector database syncing is exhausting. Dify offers:

Visual Workflow Canvas: Drag-and-drop nodes to design complex agent chains, logical loops, and tool-calling interfaces.

Built-in RAG Engine: High-quality document parsing, automatic semantic chunking, and integration with vector databases like Weaviate, Qdrant, or Milvus out-of-the-box.

Comprehensive Monitoring: Track user sessions, token consumption, latency, and agent execution traces visually.

Enterprise APIs: Turn your visual agent workflows into ready-to-integrate REST APIs with a single click.

  System Requirements

To run Dify comfortably alongside its built-in database, Redis cache, and vector store components, we recommend the following minimum specs:

OS: Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 LTS

CPU: 2 vCPUs (Intel or AMD Premium)

RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended for heavy production RAG pipelines)

Disk: 40GB+ SSD/NVMe

  Step 1: Provision Your Free Cloud Server

To bypass any initial hosting costs, we will use DigitalOcean's developer program.

Sign up through this DigitalOcean $200 Free Credit Link to receive $200 in free platform credits (valid for 60 days).

Navigate to Droplets -> Create Droplet.

Select Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your operating system.

Choose a Basic Droplet with Premium AMD or Premium Intel processor specs (the $24/month plan with 2 vCPUs and 4GB RAM is perfect for a Dify staging environment, and will run completely free under your promotional credit).

Choose your nearest data center region and add your SSH key for secure access.

Click Create Droplet and copy your public IPv4 address.

  Step 2: Prepare Your Server Environment

Once your droplet is active, log into your server via terminal:

ssh root@your_server_ip

Update your packages and install Docker alongside Docker Compose:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install -y docker.io docker-compose

Verify that Docker is active and running:

sudo systemctl status docker

  Step 3: Clone and Configure Dify

Now, let's grab the official Dify repository and prepare our container configurations.

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/langgenius/dify.git

# Change into the docker directory
cd dify/docker

Copy the template environment file to create your active configuration:

cp .env.example .env

Note: Dify comes pre-configured with secure defaults for local setups. If you plan to scale or run this in production, you can open the
.env
file with
nano .env
and customize parameters such as database passwords, secret keys, and customized domain configurations.

  Step 4: Launching the Stack

Launch all Dify microservices in detached background mode:

docker-compose up -d

Docker will automatically pull and start all necessary services:

dify-db (PostgreSQL database)

dify-redis (Caching and task queue management)

dify-sandbox (For executing custom Python/JS code securely)

dify-web (The React frontend)

dify-api & dify-worker (Flask-based backend services)

weaviate (Vector database container)

nginx (Web reverse proxy container)

Verify that all containers are healthy:

docker-compose ps

  Step 5: Initial Setup & Connecting Models

Open your web browser and navigate to
http://your_server_ip
.

You will be greeted by the Dify Setup Screen. Create your admin username and password.

Log into your dashboard.

Go to Settings -> Model Providers.

Here, you can configure your connection keys. You can connect public APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Cohere.

Want 100% data localization? Spin up Ollama on your local machine or another GPU instance, and add its endpoint to run open-source models like
llama3.1
or
mistral
completely privately with zero API costs!

  Step 6: Building Your First Private RAG Agent

Click on Studio in the top navigation panel.

Click Create from Scratch, select Chat App, and name it (e.g., "Internal Ops Assistant").

Go to Knowledge -> Create Knowledge to upload a PDF of your company's operating procedures or technical documentation. Dify will automatically parse, clean, embed, and store the text inside the localized Weaviate container.

Back in the Studio chat window, link your freshly created knowledge base under the Context tab.

Draft your prompt instructions, choose your LLM, and hit Publish!

You now have a custom, highly secure AI application executing on your own dedicated host.

  Next Steps: SSL Certificate Configuration

To map your system to a custom domain (e.g.,
dify.yourcompany.com
) and secure it with SSL, you can install Nginx on the host server or use Certbot to configure Let's Encrypt certificates natively. Doing so ensures all API traffic traversing between your users and Dify is safely encrypted.

Are you ready to take back your data sovereignty and build next-level AI agents without the enterprise price tag?

👉 Claim your $200 DigitalOcean credit here and set up your Dify node today!

As developers, we’ve all been there: you build an AI-powered feature, deploy it to production, and suddenly get slapped with a massive OpenAI or Anthropic API bill because a user ran a recursive loop, or because your team shared raw API keys across staging environments. 💸

Sharing master API keys is a major security risk, and tracking individual user costs across multiple models (GPT-4o, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Llama-3) is a management nightmare.

There is a better way. By self-hosting LiteLLM, you can spin up a unified, private LLM Gateway that acts as a proxy between your applications and your AI providers.

With LiteLLM, you get:

  One Unified API: Call 100+ LLMs using the exact same OpenAI SDK structure.

  Granular Cost Tracking: Create virtual keys for teams, developers, or users with strict spending limits (e.g., max $5/day).

  Load Balancing & Failover: Automatically route requests to backup API keys or models if rate limits are hit.

  Semantic Caching: Cache identical queries in Redis to slash API costs by up to 40%.

In this guide, we'll deploy a production-ready LiteLLM Instance with a beautiful UI Admin Dashboard on a high-speed Vultr High-Performance Cloud Instance in under 10 minutes.

  Why Host on Vultr?

When proxying API requests, latency is everything. Adding a proxy layer shouldn't introduce lag. Vultr's High-Performance Cloud offers high-frequency CPU cores and NVMe storage in over 32 global locations. This means your proxy can be co-located right next to your target audience (or your main application servers) to ensure sub-millisecond routing overhead.

  Step 1: Provision Your Vultr Instance

Sign up or log into your account via Vultr.

Click Deploy Server and select Cloud Compute.

Choose High Performance (AMD or Intel) to ensure ultra-fast request routing.

Select a server location closest to your main applications.

Choose Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your Operating System.

Select the 2 GB RAM / 1 vCPU plan (which is more than enough to handle thousands of concurrent proxy requests).

Add your SSH key and click Deploy Now.

Once your instance is ready, copy the IP address and connect to it via your terminal:

ssh root@YOUR_VULTR_IP

  Step 2: Install Docker and Docker Compose

Update your system packages and install Docker to manage our containers easily:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install -y docker.io docker-compose

Verify the installation:

docker --version && docker-compose --version

  Step 3: Create the LiteLLM Configuration

Create a dedicated directory for LiteLLM:

mkdir litellm-gateway && cd litellm-gateway

Now, create a
litellm_config.yaml
file. This is where you configure the models you want to proxy. For this demo, we'll configure OpenAI's GPT-4o and Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet:

model_list:
  - model_name: gpt-4o
    litellm_params:
      model: openai/gpt-4o
      api_key: "os.environ/OPENAI_API_KEY"
  - model_name: claude-3-5-sonnet
    litellm_params:
      model: anthropic/claude-3-5-sonnet-20240620
      api_key: "os.environ/ANTHROPIC_API_KEY"

# Configure global database for key management and logs
router_settings:
  routing_strategy: latency-based-routing

general_settings:
  master_key: "os.environ/LITELLM_MASTER_KEY"

  Step 4: Define the Docker Compose Stack

We will set up three components:

LiteLLM Core: The proxy service.

PostgreSQL: Database to store your custom API keys, user budgets, and audit logs.

LiteLLM Admin UI: A clean dashboard to create keys, set limits, and view live metrics.

Create a
docker-compose.yml
file in the same directory:

version: '3.8'

services:
  db:
    image: postgres:16-alpine
    container_name: litellm-db
    environment:
      POSTGRES_DB: litellm
      POSTGRES_USER: litellm_user
      POSTGRES_PASSWORD: super_secret_db_password
    volumes:
      - pgdata:/var/lib/postgresql/data
    ports:
      - "5432:5432"
    restart: always

  litellm:
    image: ghcr.io/berriai/litellm:main-latest
    container_name: litellm-proxy
    ports:
      - "4000:4000"
    volumes:
      - ./litellm_config.yaml:/app/config.yaml
    environment:
      - DATABASE_URL=postgresql://litellm_user:super_secret_db_password@db:5432/litellm
      - LITELLM_MASTER_KEY=sk-your-super-secure-master-admin-key-12345
      - OPENAI_API_KEY=your_actual_openai_api_key_here
      - ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=your_actual_anthropic_api_key_here
    depends_on:
      - db
    command: ["--config", "/app/config.yaml", "--detailed_debug"]
    restart: always

volumes:
  pgdata:

💡 Note: Replace
your_actual_openai_api_key_here
and
your_actual_anthropic_api_key_here
with your real API keys, and change the
LITELLM_MASTER_KEY
to a secure, random string.

  Step 5: Start Your Gateway

Run the Docker stack in detached mode:

docker-compose up -d

Check if everything is running correctly:

docker-compose ps

  Step 6: Accessing the Admin Dashboard

Your gateway is now active!

Open your browser and go to
http://YOUR_VULTR_IP:4000/ui
.

Log in using the
LITELLM_MASTER_KEY
you configured in your
docker-compose.yml
(e.g.,
sk-your-super-secure-master-admin-key-12345
).

From this dashboard, you can:

  Create Virtual Keys for external developers or internal microservices.

  Set Budgets: Limit a key to a specific dollar amount (e.g., $10 total limit, or resetting daily).

  View Real-time Analytics: Track exactly which developer, key, or model is consuming the most tokens.

  How to Use Your Private Gateway in Code

To consume your self-hosted gateway, you simply point your existing OpenAI SDK to your Vultr server. No code changes required!

  Python Example:

from openai import OpenAI

client = OpenAI(
    api_key="sk-the-virtual-key-you-created-in-dashboard",
    base_url="http://YOUR_VULTR_IP:4000"
)

# Call any model you defined in your LiteLLM config!
response = client.chat.completions.create(
    model="claude-3-5-sonnet",
    messages=[{"role": "user", "content": "Explain quantum computing in 2 sentences."}]
)

print(response.choices[0].message.content)

  Secure Your Setup for Production

Before pointing production applications to your gateway, ensure you secure it with SSL. You can easily install Nginx and Certbot on your Vultr instance to get a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate:

sudo apt install -y nginx certbot python3-certbot-nginx

Configure Nginx to reverse proxy traffic from port
80
/
443
to
http://localhost:4000
and run
sudo certbot --nginx
to enable HTTPS.

  💸 The PaaS Pricing Trap: Why Developers are Leaving Vercel and Heroku

We've all been there: you deploy a hobby project or a client MVP to a popular PaaS like Vercel or Heroku. It works beautifully, configuration is zero, and deployment is a simple
git push
.

Then, the traffic hits. Or worse, a serverless function runs into an infinite loop, or you exceed your bandwidth limit by a few gigabytes. Suddenly, you are hit with a shocking bill that you didn't prepare for.

Commercial PaaS platforms are excellent for starting out, but their pricing models are designed to penalize growth. Bandwidth, team seats, and database storage are marked up by thousands of percent compared to raw cloud resources.

But what if you could have the exact same developer experience—git-push deployments, automatic SSL, reverse proxies, database backups, and preview deployments—on your own server, without paying a single dollar in platform markups?

Enter Coolify.

  🚀 What is Coolify?

Coolify is an open-source, self-hosted alternative to Vercel, Netlify, and Heroku. It turns any Linux server into a powerful, automated PaaS (Platform as a Service).

With Coolify, you can deploy:

Frontend Frameworks: Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, Astro, React, Vue, and more.

Backend Applications: Node.js, Python, Go, Rust, Ruby on Rails, PHP/Laravel.

Databases with One Click: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse, and more (complete with automatic backups).

Self-Hosted Services: WordPress, Ghost, Plausible Analytics, n8n, MinIO, and hundreds of other pre-configured Docker applications.

And the best part? You have complete control over your data, no vendor lock-in, and zero artificial limits.

  🎁 How to Get Your High-Performance Cloud Server for $0 Upfront

To run Coolify smoothly, you need a virtual private server (VPS). While you could pay out of pocket, you don't have to.

By signing up through our official affiliate link, you can claim $200 in free credits to host your own PaaS completely free for up to 60 days:

👉 Claim your $200 Free DigitalOcean Credits here

With this credit, you can spin up a high-performance Basic or Premium Droplet (we recommend at least 2 vCPUs and 4GB RAM to host multiple applications and databases comfortably) and experience the power of self-hosting with zero financial risk.

  🛠️ Step-by-Step: Deploying Coolify in Under 10 Minutes

Let’s walk through setting up your private PaaS from scratch.

  Step 1: Create Your VPS

Log into your DigitalOcean Account.

Click Create -> Droplets.

Choose Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your operating system.

Select a plan with at least 4 GB RAM and 2 vCPUs (this allows you to run Coolify, multiple apps, and a database easily).

Choose your nearest datacenter region for optimal latency.

Select SSH Keys for authentication (recommended for security) or set a strong root password.

Click Create Droplet.

  Step 2: Connect via SSH

Once your Droplet is up and running, copy its public IP address and open your local terminal to connect:

ssh root@your_droplet_ip

  Step 3: Run the Coolify Installation Script

Coolify provides a highly optimized, one-line installation script that automatically configures Docker, sets up reverse proxies, and installs the Coolify dashboard.

Run the following command in your server terminal:

curl -fsSL https://cdn.coollabs.io/coolify/install.sh | bash

Note: The installation process will take 2-3 minutes. It will download the necessary Docker images and configure your system security settings.

  Step 4: Access Your Dashboard and Configure SSL

Once the installation is complete, the terminal will display your access URL, which is typically:

http://your_droplet_ip:8000

Open this URL in your web browser.

Create your administrator account (username and password).

Follow the on-screen onboarding wizard to configure your wildcard domain (e.g.,
*.yourdomain.com
). Coolify will automatically provision free, auto-renewing Let's Encrypt SSL certificates for every application you deploy!

  ⚡ Deploying Your First App (GitHub Integration)

Deploying an app with Coolify is incredibly intuitive:

Connect GitHub: Go to Sources in your Coolify dashboard and link your GitHub account or specify a public repository.

Create a New Project: Click Projects -> Add New Resource.

Select Your Repository: Choose the repository and branch you want to deploy.

Choose Your Build Pack: Coolify automatically detects if your app is a Next.js, Node, Go, or Python app. It will auto-configure the build steps and environment variables.

Click Deploy: Watch the real-time build logs. In a few seconds, your app will be live with a secure
https://
URL!

  🛡️ Why This Changes Everything

By moving away from commercial PaaS platforms to your own VPS running Coolify, you unlock incredible advantages:

No Active Limits: Run as many projects, databases, and cron jobs as your server's hardware can handle.

Flat Pricing: No matter if you get 10,000 or 1,000,000 requests, your cloud server bill remains exactly the same. No surprise overage charges.

Extreme Performance: By running your databases and backend apps on the same virtual server, internal latency drops to virtually zero.

Ready to reclaim control of your cloud deployments and stop paying inflated PaaS bills?

👉 Deploy Coolify today with $200 in free credits on DigitalOcean

As artificial intelligence becomes deeply integrated into our daily workflows, many developers, agencies, and startups face a massive challenge: data privacy and skyrocketing API platform costs.

While OpenAI's Custom GPTs are incredibly convenient, they come with a high price tag per user, strict platform boundaries, and zero guarantees on data sovereignty.

Fortunately, there is a powerful open-source alternative: Flowise. Flowise is a drag-and-drop UI tool designed to build customized LLM flows, autonomous agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using LangChain.

In this guide, we will walk you through how to deploy your own private instance of Flowise on a cloud server in under 5 minutes. Best of all, you can start with $0 upfront by taking advantage of a free $200 DigitalOcean credit.

  Why Self-Host Flowise?

Data Sovereignty: Your customer data, internal documents, and API keys remain strictly on your private server.

Zero Middleware Markups: Instead of paying premium subscription tiers, you pay only for raw compute and direct LLM API costs.

Visual Drag-and-Drop: Rapidly prototype RAG pipelines, chatbots, memory structures, and custom tools with a beautiful node-based canvas.

Seamless Integration: Expose your flows as production-ready APIs, chat widgets, or Webhooks instantly.

  Step 1: Spin Up Your Cloud Server (Droplet)

To ensure your AI agents respond swiftly, you need a lightweight, highly reliable virtual private server.

Sign up and grab your free server hosting credits here: Claim your $200 DigitalOcean Free Credit.

Create a new Droplet (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is highly recommended).

A basic droplet with 2 GB RAM / 1 vCPU (costing around $12/month, which is entirely covered by your free credit) is perfect for running Flowise smoothly.

Connect to your new server via SSH in your terminal:

   ssh root@YOUR_DROPLET_IP

  Step 2: Install Docker and Docker Compose

We will deploy Flowise using Docker to ensure all dependencies, Node.js packages, and security protocols are isolated and easy to update.

Update your packages and install Docker:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install docker.io docker-compose -y

Verify Docker is running:

sudo systemctl status docker

  Step 3: Deploy Flowise via Docker Compose

Create a dedicated workspace directory for Flowise:

mkdir flowise && cd flowise

Now, create a
docker-compose.yml
configuration file:

nano docker-compose.yml

Paste the following production-ready configuration inside the file:

version: '3.8'

services:
    flowise:
        image: flowiseai/flowise:latest
        restart: always
        environment:
            - PORT=3000
            - FLOWISE_USERNAME=admin
            - FLOWISE_PASSWORD=ChangeThisSecurePassword123!
            - DATABASE_PATH=/root/.flowise
            - APIKEY_PATH=/root/.flowise
        ports:
            - "80:3000"
        volumes:
            - ~/.flowise:/root/.flowise

Note: Make sure to replace
ChangeThisSecurePassword123!
with a strong, custom password to lock down your dashboard from unauthorized users.

Save and close the file (in nano, press
Ctrl+O
,
Enter
, then
Ctrl+X
).

Now, spin up the container in the background:

docker-compose up -d

Flowise is now active! Give it a few seconds to initialize and pull the required assets.

  Step 4: Access and Build Your First AI Agent

Open your web browser of choice and navigate directly to your server's public IP address:

http://YOUR_DROPLET_IP

Log in using the credentials you defined in your
docker-compose.yml
file.

Explore the Marketplace: Flowise comes pre-packaged with dozens of ready-to-use templates for RAG, Conversational Agents, translation tools, and custom SQL databases.

Connect Your Models: Drag in a ChatOpenAI or Ollama node, paste your API keys securely, and immediately start constructing complex, multi-agent AI solutions without writing a single line of backend code.

  Conclusion

By taking control of your AI infrastructure, you unlock limitless API integrations, bypass heavy platform fees, and guarantee that your users' conversations remain confidential.

  🚀 Why Pay for GitHub Copilot When You Can Self-Host Your Own Private AI Assistant?

If you are a developer, you probably rely on AI code completion daily. But GitHub Copilot comes with two massive trade-offs:

It costs $10 to $20+ per month per developer.

Your proprietary code leaves your machine, which is a massive red flag for enterprise projects, proprietary products, or client confidentiality.

Enter Tabby—the self-hosted, open-source alternative to GitHub Copilot. It runs completely under your control, integrates seamlessly with VS Code and JetBrains, and supports state-of-the-art coding models like DeepSeek-Coder.

In this step-by-step guide, you will learn how to deploy your own private Tabby AI assistant server in under 5 minutes. Best of all, we will utilize a cloud trial to run it completely free of charge.

  🛠️ The Architecture: What We Are Building

We will deploy a cloud-based Docker instance running Tabby. We will configure it to use a highly optimized, state-of-the-art open-source LLM specifically trained for code execution (like
DeepSeek-Coder-1.3B
or
StarCoder
).

To ensure our server has enough RAM and CPU horsepower to serve rapid code completions without lagging, we will host it on a fast VPS.

💡 Pro Tip: You don't need to spend a dime to set this up. You can spin up this infrastructure using a free cloud credit voucher:

👉 Claim Your $200 DigitalOcean Free Trial Credit Here (This gives you more than enough capacity to host your private AI assistant for months at zero cost!)

  📋 Step 1: Provisioning Your Secure VPS

Sign up or log into your cloud portal using the DigitalOcean $200 Credit Link.

Click on Create Droplet (Virtual Machine).

Choose Ubuntu 24.04 LTS as your Operating System.

Hardware Selection: Choose a CPU-Optimized Dedicated Droplet (at least 4 vCPUs and 8GB RAM is recommended to run lightweight 1.3B to 3B models with fast token-generation speeds).

Choose your nearest data center region and add your SSH key for secure access.

Click Create Droplet and copy your server's IP address.

  📦 Step 2: Install Docker on Your Server

SSH into your newly created server:

ssh root@YOUR_DROPLET_IP

Run the following commands to update your package manager and install Docker:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install docker.io docker-compose -y

Verify that Docker is successfully installed:

docker --version

  🚀 Step 3: Spin Up the Tabby AI Server

We will run Tabby inside a Docker container. Tabby comes optimized with out-of-the-box CPU execution support (using llama.cpp/ggml under the hood for fast inference without requiring expensive GPUs).

Create a directory for your configuration data:

mkdir -p ~/tabby/data
cd ~/tabby

Now, run the Tabby container using the lightweight, highly capable DeepSeek-Coder-1.3B-Instruct model (perfect for instant code autocomplete response times):

docker run -d \
  --name tabby-ai \
  -p 8080:8080 \
  -v $HOME/tabby/data:/data \
  tabbyml/tabby \
  serve --model TabbyML/DeepSeek-Coder-1.3B --device cpu

Note: If you went with a larger VPS configuration, you can swap out
DeepSeek-Coder-1.3B
for larger models like
DeepSeek-Coder-6.7B
.

To monitor the initialization logs and model download status (it will pull the weights automatically on first launch), run:

docker logs -f tabby-ai

Once the download finishes and the server boots up, you will see a message confirming the server is listening on port
8080
.

  🌐 Step 4: Access Your Private Dashboard & Create Your Admin Account

Open your web browser and navigate to
http://YOUR_DROPLET_IP:8080
.

Create your administrator account (this ensures only you and your team can access your server API).

In the Tabby Admin Dashboard, you can monitor token-generation speeds, configure active models, and invite team members if you want to share your self-hosted AI resources!

  🔌 Step 5: Connect Your IDE (VS Code or JetBrains)

Now let's configure your local IDE to start requesting code suggestions from your private cloud server.

  For Visual Studio Code:

Open VS Code and open the Extensions Marketplace (
Ctrl+Shift+X
/
Cmd+Shift+X
).

Search for and install the Tabby extension.

Click on the Tabby icon in your status bar (or go to VS Code Settings and search for
Tabby
).

Change the Server Endpoint to:

http://YOUR_DROPLET_IP:8080

Paste the API Token generated from your Tabby Web Dashboard.

Start typing code! You will immediately see fast, context-aware inline autocomplete suggestions running directly off your private cloud droplet.

  🔒 Security Best Practice: Restrict Access via UFW

Because your AI model is hosted on a public IP, you should restrict access to port
8080
so that only your local developer IP machine can communicate with it.

Run these commands on your VPS to set up a basic firewall:

sudo ufw default deny incoming
sudo ufw default allow outgoing
sudo ufw allow ssh
# Replace YOUR_HOME_IP with your actual local home/office IP address
sudo ufw allow from YOUR_HOME_IP to any port 8080
sudo ufw enable

  🎉 The Verdict: Privacy, Cost Control, and Zero Friction

With this configuration, you get a fully private, incredibly fast code companion that doesn't leak your company's intellectual property and costs you absolutely nothing to start.

By leveraging the DigitalOcean $200 Trial Credit Promo, you have the perfect sandbox to test this setup, evaluate model accuracy, and run your developer pipelines without any financial risk.

Are you ready to take control of your AI workflow? Let me know in the comments if you prefer Tabby or Copilot! 👇

  🤖 Deploy Dify Self-Hosted: Build Private AI Agents & RAG Pipelines for $0

Enterprise AI platforms and APIs like OpenAI's Assistants or LangChain Hub are phenomenal—until you look at your monthly bill or realize your sensitive company data is leaving your server.

If you want to build custom AI Agents, automated workflows, and advanced RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines while keeping 100% control over your data, there is a better way: Dify.

Dify is one of the most powerful, user-friendly open-source LLM application development platforms. In this guide, we will show you how to self-host Dify in under 5 minutes on your own virtual machine, completely free of charge using a cloud promo.

  Why Self-Host Dify?

🔒 Absolute Privacy: No third-party platform reads your uploaded PDFs, enterprise databases, or chat histories.

⚡ Visual Orchestration: Drag-and-drop LLM app builder (similar to LangFlow or Flowise, but much cleaner and production-ready).

📂 Built-in RAG Engine: Includes native PDF/text parsing, vector database storage, and hybrid search out of the box.

🔌 Model Agnostic: Connect easily to local models (via Ollama/Llama.cpp) or external APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Groq).

  Step 1: Spin Up Your Infrastructure (For $0)

To run Dify smoothly along with its database and vector store dependencies, you need a server with at least 2 vCPUs and 4GB RAM (8GB is highly recommended if you plan to parse massive datasets).

You can get a professional-grade cloud VPS completely free for 60 days to test this setup.

👉 Claim Your $200 DigitalOcean Free Trial Credit Here

Sign up using the link above to get $200 in free credits.

Create a new Droplet (Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or 24.04 LTS).

Select a Basic plan with 2 vCPUs / 4GB RAM (Intel/AMD premium is recommended).

  Step 2: Install Docker & Docker Compose

Once you have SSH'd into your new server, make sure your package list is updated and install Docker:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

# Install Docker & Docker Compose
sudo apt install docker.io docker-compose-v2 -y

# Enable Docker service
sudo systemctl enable --now docker

  Step 3: Clone Dify and Configure Environment

Now, clone the official Dify repository and enter the docker directory:

git clone https://github.com/langgenius/dify.git
cd dify/docker

Next, copy the environment configuration file. Dify comes with a pre-configured
.env
file that works out of the box for most self-hosted environments:

cp .env.example .env

(Optional: If you want to change your port or set up custom SMTP for user invites, you can edit this
.env
file using
nano .env
).

  Step 4: Launch Dify

Boot up all the necessary services (Nginx, PostgreSQL, Redis, Weaviate vector DB, and the Dify api/worker components) with a single command:

sudo docker compose up -d

Give it about 1 to 2 minutes to pull the container images and initialize the databases. To check if everything is running correctly:

sudo docker compose ps

  Step 5: Configure Your Admin Account

Now, open your web browser and navigate to your server's IP address:

http://YOUR_SERVER_IP

You will be greeted by the Dify Setup Wizard:

Create your administrator account (email & secure password).

Log in with your new credentials.

Go to Settings -> Model Provider to hook up your preferred LLM engine (you can paste your OpenAI/Anthropic keys or point it to a local Ollama instance running on your server).

  Next Steps: Build Your First AI Agent

Now that your private Dify platform is up, you can:

Create a Knowledge Base: Upload your company documents or paste documentation links. Dify will automatically chunk, embed, and store them in the local vector DB.

Build a Workflow: Design complex multi-step agents that fetch data from external APIs, format the response, and send it to Slack or Telegram.

Publish as an API / Web Widget: Embed your new custom chatbot into your web app with a simple copy-paste script tag.

  💡 Hosting Pro-Tip

Running production AI pipelines requires solid uptime and fast NVMe SSD storage for vector indexes. Don't host this on low-tier, unstable shared hosting.

Get started with the absolute best infrastructure for free: Deploy your Dify instance on DigitalOcean with $200 in free credits and test your self-hosted AI agency environment with zero upfront financial risk!

git clone https://github.com/danny-avila/LibreChat.git
cd LibreChat

Copia el archivo de configuración de ejemplo:

cp .env.example .env

(Opcional: Abre el archivo
.env
con
nano .env

docker compose up -d

¡Listo! Ahora abre tu navegador e ingresa a
http://IP_DE_TU_SERVIDOR:3080

  Paso 1: Crear tu Servidor (Droplet)

curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com -o get-docker.sh
sudo sh get-docker.sh

docker run -d -p 3000:8080 -v ollama:/root/.ollama -v open-webui:/app/backend/data --name open-webui --restart always ghcr.io/open-webui/open-webui:ollama

  ⚡ ¡Listo! Configura tu IA Privada

Abre tu navegador web e ingresa a:
http://IP_DE_TU_DROPLET:3000

Ve a Ajustes > Modelos y descarga tu modelo preferido. Recomendamos Llama 3 (escribiendo
llama3
y dándole a descargar) o Mistral (
mistral
).

¡Listo!

¿A qué esperas?
