Small browser tools that save me time: text cleanup, calculators and data converters

Not every task needs a big application. A lot of my day is made of tiny jobs: cleaning up a pasted block of text, converting a data file from one format to another, or running a quick calculation. For these, a small browser tool beats opening a heavy program every time.

I have been using the utilities on ConvertProKit, a free collection that runs in the browser with no sign-up. Here are the kinds of small jobs it helps with.

 Text tools

Cleaning, formatting and converting text is a constant need for writers, students and developers alike. Instead of writing a throwaway script, paste the text into a tool and copy the result.

 Data and developer helpers

Converting between common data formats, formatting and checking structured data, and similar small utilities save a lot of back-and-forth when you are debugging or preparing files for someone else.

 Calculators

For quick numbers, a dedicated calculator page is faster than a spreadsheet and easier to share with a colleague.

 Files and images

The same site also handles PDF and image tasks such as merging, compressing and converting, which is handy when the same afternoon includes a document and a few photos.

Why I like the browser approach

Nothing to install and no account to create.

The work happens on your own device, so your files stay with you.

Each tool page explains in plain language how to use it.

 Batch work with Flow

When I have many files to process, the Flow feature chains several tools so the whole batch runs in one go instead of file by file.

If you want a bookmark-worthy set of small utilities, take a look at convertpk.org and see which tools match your own daily chores.

Free browser-based file converters I use instead of installing software

Every few weeks I need to merge a few PDFs, shrink an image, or convert a file into a format someone else asked for. For years that meant installing yet another desktop app or uploading private documents to a random website.

Recently I started using ConvertProKit, a free set of online tools that run directly in the browser. Here is what I like about it.

 What it covers

PDF tools: merge, split, compress, convert, and sign documents

Image tools: convert between formats, resize, and compress

Audio and video: quick conversions without a desktop editor

Everyday utilities: calculators, text tools, and small developer helpers

 Why it works for me

Nothing to install. Open the page, drop in a file, download the result.

No account needed. You can start straight away.

Files stay private. The work happens in your own browser, so your documents are not sent off to be processed on someone else's server.

Each tool explains itself. Every page says in plain language how to use it and what to expect.

 The Flow feature

The part I find most useful is Flow. It lets you chain several tools together, so a whole batch of files can go through multiple steps in one run. For example, you can convert a folder of images and then compress them, without repeating the work file by file.

 Who it is for

Students, office workers, freelancers, and anyone who just needs a file in the right format quickly, without paying for software.

If you want to try it, start at convertpk.org and pick the tool you need. New tools are added regularly based on what people search for most.

 The Problem

Every time I needed to convert an image or merge a PDF,
I had to upload my files to random websites.
That always felt wrong — where do my files actually go?

 So I Built ConvertPK

ConvertPK is a free toolkit with 55+ tools that run
entirely in your browser.

Your files NEVER leave your device. Ever.

 What's Inside

🖼️ Image Tools: JPG↔PNG, WebP, compress, resize

📄 PDF Tools: Merge, split, compress

🤖 AI Tools: Background remover, grammar checker

🧮 Finance: BMI, loan EMI, age calculator

🔧 Dev Tools: Hash generator, JSON formatter, Regex

 Try It

Completely free. No account. No limits. Forever.
