  Item Shop Changes, the Marketplace
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We've introduced an updated shop to the game and renamed it "Marketplace". There is no option to sell items as we want the economy to be largely player based, meaning that players should control the economy by selling to other players and trading.&lt;br&gt;

  New RTP Menu

&lt;p&gt;I've put into place a new menu to replace the old entry for Random Teleport in the Quick menu. There are two options, showing the two worlds we have available: The SMP World, and the Brand Spankin' new &lt;strong&gt;Resource World&lt;/strong&gt;!&lt;/p&gt;

  Brand Spankin' New Resource World
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Due to our Custom World Generation not having Certain default Minecraft structures such as sunken treasure ships, etc, we've made a Resource World available to everyone!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;NOTE&lt;/strong&gt;: Towns are not allowed in the Resource world, and it is not a good idea to build in it, as it will Reset every once in a while. It is strictly for gathering resources. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This being said, please try to keep the SMP world looking beautiful :)&lt;/p&gt;

  New Rank Seperation
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Before this week, you could only have one Rank shown. Now, we've set it to where you can see the donor rank or staff rank first, and then the /rankup rank.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Example, &lt;code&gt;Twink_le_&lt;/code&gt; has the &lt;code&gt;FIRSTMATE&lt;/code&gt; Donor rank and &lt;code&gt;Nomad&lt;/code&gt; as rankup rank.&lt;br&gt;
Another Example, I have &lt;code&gt;SysAdmin&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;Nomad&lt;/code&gt; rankup rank.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We did this so you could have a donor rank on the server, and still have some sort of rank goal to work for! This should have been done long ago and was something that was definitely overlooked on our part.&lt;/p&gt;

  Work Continues

&lt;p&gt;Yes indeed, work continues on our secret project, and the not so secret project codenamed "KOTI" for "King Of The Island".&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There's not much to see as it's all still alpha island world generation at the current stage, but I'm &lt;em&gt;this&lt;/em&gt; close to getting roads to render on the island.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This week we didn't really release anything major in anticipation of our suuper secret project that will be released either tomorrow or the next day.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We've added support for Minecraft on the Phone, Xbox, Playstation, and Windows 10 Edition. It's the same server, but you can now connect from anywhere!&lt;/p&gt;

  Server Events

&lt;p&gt;We're going to be hosting some events with the whole community very soon! All events are open to anyone :) Please get the Minecraft Events role from #🥐roles in our discord to be pinged about these in the future.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Homecoming&lt;/strong&gt; (Saturday, June 19, 10 PM EST) Show up in formal skins to this big Minecraft dance party! Feel free to stream (or make any other content), and if you'd like you can even bring a date! This will be a good time to hop in a vc to make new friends!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Hide &amp;amp; Seek&lt;/strong&gt; (Friday, June 25, 10 PM EST) Players will have 15 minutes to hide in a 500 block wide, randomly generated, indestructible world! When time runs out the Honchos will be searching for (and killing) every contestant! Last player standing wins!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Manhunt&lt;/strong&gt; (Saturday, July 3, 10 PM EST) Players will track down and try to kill the Honchos. Anyone who manage to get a kill will win a prize!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Duo UHC Tournament&lt;/strong&gt; (Friday, July 9, 10 PM EST) This will be a huge survival pvp tournament with a cash prize. The entry fee will be $5 per player. 75% of the money will go to the last team standing, while 25% will go to a charity of the winner's choice. More details &amp;amp; signup for this event will be announced soon.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Sandcastle Build Contest&lt;/strong&gt; (Saturday, July 17, 10 PM EST) Contestants will have 30 minutes to build something out of sand/sandstone! The best build wins a prize!&lt;/p&gt;

  Emote integration, the chat, and the tablist
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We've started integrating emotes in a lot of places.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In the coming days, I'll release a full list of emotes usable on the server. Right now there are over 2,200 emotes you can use, but nobody knows how right now :)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here's what to expect when you see one of these emotes in context of a player.&lt;br&gt;
When you see a house, it means the player is in a town.&lt;br&gt;
When you see a shield, the player is an admin.&lt;br&gt;
When you see the twitch logo, the user is streaming.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Our tablist now has a shiny new logo as well!&lt;br&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This week we introduced Sparrow, a play on a certain pirate character from a certain unnamed mega digital media corporation's movie :)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Right now, he can only be seen in chat giving helpful tips every once in a while, but expect more of him soon!&lt;/p&gt;

  Suuuuuper Seeeeecret stuff

&lt;p&gt;Goodness gracious, I wish I could tell all of you folks what we've got going on behind the scenes. We've got a lot of content being made for a certain few gamemodes. I can talk about one of those right now.&lt;/p&gt;

  Codename K.O.T.I.
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;King of the Island is a gamemode I dreamed up the other day. It's a PvP oriented gamemode and right now we don't have much content for it. We will have custom models for custom workbenches, loot crates, world generation buildings, crate drop hotspots, and so many other fun features.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You'll spawn on an island with a diameter of about 500-1000 blocks and have to fight and build your way to the top!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I expect that we'll be able to run a beta test of this gamemode within the next week or so. I'll keep you all posted on specifics and when this is going to happen.&lt;/p&gt;

We're currently looking for people who fit these attributes to fill positions in moderation roles, building roles, and general content creation roles.&lt;/p&gt;

  New Emotes

&lt;p&gt;This week, we introduced new emotes to the server. This is paired with the resource pack that loads when you join the server. There are over 2,200 emotes on the server and they are mostly minecraft emotes. A full list will be published soon, but in the meantime, here's some to toy around with!&lt;br&gt;

  Admin shop rework
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This week we had a lot of abuse in the admin shop from people making massive farms and making profit way too fast for how our economy was imagined. For the time being, the sell shop has been disabled. We're going to look at ways to make the admin shop fair and balanced, but right now selling to the admin shop is disabled.&lt;/p&gt;

  Jobs buff

&lt;p&gt;We've buffed jobs by 30%. This should make jobs a sustainable way to earn money in the game while just playing the game and having fun.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We don't like putting in harsh rules about what you can and can not do; we want players have fun and do what they want. This being said, we still need some base rules to cover our bases.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We're introducing a new system sometime this week called 'notice board'. The notice board will be kind of like a classified ads list for the server. Do you make potions? Perhaps you are a great builder? Post it on the notice board.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The notice board will be accessible globally through the quick menu, and will have some functionality in towns with the placeable noticeboard.&lt;/p&gt;

Hopefully this will only take a week or two, but we are not sure. I know that they release pretty fast after an update, but we'll keep you guys updated.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The quick menu is a revolutionary new concept based on a mechanic we've refined. Double tap your "switch hand" key (default "F"), and the quick menu will open!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The quick menu contains all of the features that are commonly used. &lt;strong&gt;The year is 2021, who types commands manually?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Want to see our Vote links with the click of a button? Perhaps town settings? Flea Market or Item Shop? Donations, Random Teleports, Server info, Baltop, and Settings toggles, all in one place. &lt;strong&gt;This is the quick menu!&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;

  Awards and Stats

&lt;p&gt;These features aren't quite in yet, but Awards and Statistics are soon to be implemented into the server! You can gain specific awards by doing specific things in the server. Find a bug? Bug hunter Award. Reported someone breaking the rules? Keeping the server clean!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Eventually, you'll be able to display one of your Awards on your profile. Also, for those of you who were there on launch day, you'll be getting a special Award for that :)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Stats are basically like minecraft stats, but for things minecraft doesn't count, like the amount of Piñatas you've killed, or the amount of Town Blocks Claimed, etc. Soon you'll be able to see these in your quick menu as well.&lt;/p&gt;

  On the subject of Piñatas...
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We've released a new vote party reward! When you the vote party threshold is reached, a Piñata will spawn at &lt;code&gt;/warp pinata&lt;/code&gt;. Piñatas will drop items like diamonds, emeralds, and money!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Be there when they spawn or be circle... (get it, cause we're all squares in minecraft? i'll show myself out...)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We've added a fair bit of rankups in the OpenSMP server, 14 in total with the prices ranging from $1,000 to $100,000.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Each of these have different perks and will let other players know that you're the &lt;strong&gt;Real Deal&lt;/strong&gt;!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Rankups are live on the server now and can be used by performing the command &lt;code&gt;/rankup&lt;/code&gt;. There will be a confirmation message with the price before you actually rank up!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We've introduced voting to the server. If you've never voted before, it's like telling the internet our server is great. You visit a website, enter your username, click submit and it gives you rewards ingame!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Have you ever wanted to make 250 bucks 6 times in 10 minutes? Now's your time!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This helps the server immensely by bumping it higher on server lists so more players see our great community!&lt;/p&gt;

I learned about how &lt;a href="https://github.com/migeyel/pmkam"&gt;the pmkam address miner&lt;/a&gt; for krist worked, used &lt;a href="https://vast.ai"&gt;vast.ai&lt;/a&gt; to rent machines for some juicy GPU power (8 1080ti machines) :0&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Most recently am turning myself into a 3d model for VRChat through the help of &lt;a href="https://www.capturingreality.com/"&gt;RealityCapture&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="https://alicevision.org/"&gt;Meshroom&lt;/a&gt;. Don't forget our old pal blender, and the unity VRChat SDK which I haven't even conquered.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I'll do a writeup of how I did the full body scan once I get everything working properly.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Anyways, if you are looking for a sign to go out there and get shit done, even if it is mundane or fun hobby shit, this is your sign and now is your time. Go get em' tiger!&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>A tip for Linux and Discord users.</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Here's a quick tip for anyone who has recently breathed life into an old laptop using Linux such as myself, (running Ubuntu 20.04 on a Macbook air mid-2012). I have enjoyed the experience of running Ubuntu on this Mac, as I haven't used it since 16.04 (c. 2017?). It has sped this machine up immensely in contrast to the ever growing MacOS installation that was on this machine previously.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;One thing that I did want to install was Discord as I use it to communicate with friends and people with whom I work on projects.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Problem
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I started by installing the snap package of discord. This worked fine and I was able to do everything with it out of the box, but the problem was that it was very slow and slowed down the laptop a lot.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Solution
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Google Chrome has a feature where you can make pseudo-apps that run as websites in their own process frame. &lt;code&gt;To create one, just navigate to the website that you want to create an app of, and click the three dots in the top right hand corner, select More tools &amp;gt; Create Shortcut. Be sure to tick the 'Open as window' Box&lt;/code&gt;, and voila! You have a lightweight pseudo-app that loads the online Discord version!&lt;/p&gt;

  The Fine Print
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You may not be able to screen share or use your webcam easily by this method. In my case, I only use my laptop on the go, so this is not a big factor in my decision. It works very well and I thought I'd share.&lt;/p&gt;

It talks about different challenges that we've faced as humans, the steps that we've taken to understand these challenges, and put forward solutions once we understand the data.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It also talks about very valuable data sets of things that we know very little about, hence we have very little data about. Definitely one of the more exciting Google Cloud Podcast episodes.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;strong&gt;Blacksmith Grindstone&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;(Block)&lt;/em&gt;
&lt;/h5&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Blacksmith Grindstone will be used by the blacksmith profession to sharpen swords and axes- possibly tools as well! The sharpness of an item increases the temporary lifespan of that item by increasing the item's instantaneous durability. However, every time an item is sharpened, the max durability of that item is decreased by half of what the item gained back in durability. Therefore, items are doomed to break... eventually, but it can be delayed with sharpening.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Example&lt;/strong&gt;: A sword with 100/500 durability is sharpened. The sword now has 200/450 durability.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This Grindstone is also animated using custom model data when it is being used. There will also be an animation for the item being sharpened in the next update to the grindstone.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;strong&gt;Blacksmith Furnace&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;(Block)&lt;/em&gt;
&lt;/h5&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Blacksmith Furnace will be used by the blacksmith profession to smelt ores into &lt;strong&gt;Metal Ingots&lt;/strong&gt;. Only &lt;strong&gt;Metal Ores&lt;/strong&gt; can be placed into the crafting slot of the furnace. Metal Ores must each reach a specific &lt;strong&gt;Melting Point&lt;/strong&gt; in the furnace to turn into ingots. The furnace's heat can be initially set using different tiers of burnable &lt;strong&gt;fuel.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;(Not implemented yet)&lt;/em&gt; Each Fuel will have a different &lt;strong&gt;base burning temperature&lt;/strong&gt;. The furnace's temperature can then be increased from its base temperature using a &lt;strong&gt;Blacksmith Bellow&lt;/strong&gt;. &lt;/p&gt;

Hot items cannot be equipped or used until cooled. Also, the attributes of that item/weapon will become visible once that item/weapon is cooled. A Blacksmith Cauldron must be filled with water using a &lt;strong&gt;Water Pail&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;(See unimplemented items)&lt;/em&gt; before it can be used. When used, a "cooling" animation plays. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Blacksmith Anvil will be used by the blacksmith profession to choose and craft &lt;strong&gt;hot armor and weapons&lt;/strong&gt; from &lt;strong&gt;Metal Ingots&lt;/strong&gt;. A &lt;strong&gt;Blacksmith Hammer&lt;/strong&gt; is necessary to craft items on the anvil. When crafting, a "hammer" animation will play with the blacksmith hammer. The item crafted on the anvil will be a "Hot" variant of its selected parent item, which is either a piece of &lt;strong&gt;Armor&lt;/strong&gt; or a weapon. This "Hot" item cannot be used or equipped, until cooled in the Blacksmith Cauldron.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Each item has a recipe cost of 1-5 ingots of any &lt;strong&gt;Metal Ingot&lt;/strong&gt;. This means you can use any combination of metal alloys to craft armor, and the attribute boosts will stack. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Metal Ingots will be used by the blacksmith profession to craft items. They are obtained by smelting ores in a &lt;strong&gt;Blacksmith Furnace&lt;/strong&gt;. You can use any combination of metal alloys to craft &lt;strong&gt;Armor&lt;/strong&gt;, and the attribute boosts will stack. The melting point is the temperature at which the furnace needs to be to melt the metal's ore into Metal Ingots. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The bellow is an animated hand-held tool that can be used by the blacksmith profession to increase the instantaneous temperature of a &lt;strong&gt;Blacksmith Furnace&lt;/strong&gt;. The rate at which it increases temperature is still undetermined. It will likely be dependent on the level of the blacksmith themselves.&lt;br&gt;
All professions can use it by clicking or holding down their right mouse button to blow air particles. &lt;/p&gt;

Attributes are inherited on that item, but not visible to the player. The attributes will become visible once that item is cooled. They can be differentiated from their cooled counterparts by a red texture overlay on their icon, and "Hot" in their ItemMeta displayname. &lt;/p&gt;

The Armor's &lt;strong&gt;star-rating&lt;/strong&gt; is determined by calculating the total "score" accumulated by armor level, positive attributes, initial durability, and material used compared to a piece of armor with "perfect" armor level, attributes, initial durability, and material.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
The Armor's current &lt;strong&gt;durability&lt;/strong&gt; is shown in green on the durability bar in the item's lore. Durability that can be regained by repair or sharpening (weapons only) is indicated by grey on the durability bar. Durability that cannot be regained due to sharpening (weapons only) or [OTHER REASONS REDACTED] is indicated by red on the durability bar.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The length of the divider line between item information and its attributes is equal to the length of the longest line of lore applied to the item. &lt;/p&gt;

      <title>How I host Minecraft Server ResourcePacks on Github</title>

  Github is dope.

&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Yes, we all knew this&lt;/em&gt;. Anyways, with the addition of Actions to your team's workflow, you can make the process of editing a resourcepack, automatically building it, and shipping it to your live production Minecraft server so very easy.&lt;/p&gt;

  Initial thoughts &amp;amp; Planning
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Before this switch, we (being SupremeObsidian) were using Dropbox to host the resourcepack. This was a quick and easy solution, as you could get the share link from Dropbox, and add it to your server. However, the downside to this was that this was not a good solution for a team working on a resourcepack that needed to be constantly uploaded to the server so that everyone could see the changes live (even though at the moment, we are only in the development stage).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I started thinking maybe we could use releases in Github for this. This raised the issues:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Versions (v1.0.0) in the download url for the release that we would have to change every time, so this wouldn't work&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The project directory in the sources zip&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you don't know what I'm talking about on the second point, when you make releases or download the cloned zip, you get the zip with a directory in the root, so all of the repository files are now in &lt;code&gt;RepositoryName-version.zip/RepositoryName/files-here&lt;/code&gt;.&lt;br&gt;
This would not work, as the resource pack zip had to have the assets, pack.mcmeta, and pack.png in the root of the zip.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h1&gt;
  
  
  And then it hit me.
&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We could use Github actions for this purpose, of creating a zip, and uploading it to the repository, and fetching the pack zip from the raw url of the file. This works great.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I am no expert in Github actions, and I had never put one together before until a day ago, but I managed to get it to do exactly what I wanted.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To explain a little, the action checks out to the main branch, pulls latest files, deletes the current release.zip, zips the files in current directory, adds any edited files (in this case release.zip), commits, and pushes.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;/h1&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This whole process takes ~30 seconds on average to complete, and then you have your brand spankin' new resource pack zip that works to download with Minecraft through the raw url.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Note&lt;/strong&gt;: The raw url for github files that you should use is &lt;code&gt;https://github.com/user/repo/blob/branch/release.zip?raw=true&lt;/code&gt;&lt;br&gt;
That is, if your release.zip is in the repo root.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Also of &lt;strong&gt;Note&lt;/strong&gt;: I use WorldResourcePack for my resourcepack downloading on the server. Any time we update it in github and zip the files with the action, we run &lt;code&gt;/wrp generatehashes&lt;/code&gt; and this will generate new hashes for the resourcepack(s) that you have on your server so that when players join, their clients will compare the local hash to the new one and realize they are different, hence downloading the new version.&lt;/p&gt;
