The ACFT is gone. Here's how the Army scores the AFT now.

If you trained for the ACFT, some of what you memorized is now out of date. On
1 June 2025 the Army replaced the Army Combat Fitness Test with the Army Fitness
Test, the AFT. The scoring changed, one event is gone, and the pass rules are
stricter than most people realize. Here is what actually changed and how your
score is worked out now.

 What changed from the ACFT

The biggest change is that the standing power throw was removed. That was the
medicine-ball toss that a lot of soldiers found awkward and hard to train for.
Dropping it leaves five events instead of six. The rest of the test is familiar,
but the point tables were re-issued, so an old ACFT calculator will give you the
wrong number.

 The five events

The AFT scores you on five events, each out of 100 points, for a total out of 500:

Three-repetition maximum deadlift

Hand-release push-ups, two minutes

Sprint-drag-carry, timed

Plank, timed

Two-mile run, timed

 How the points work

Each event is scored on its own scale between a 60-point minimum and a 100-point
maximum. If you hit the minimum standard for your age and sex, that event is worth
60 points. If you hit the maximum standard, it is worth 100. Anything in between is
interpolated, so small improvements move your score.

The part people miss is the pass rule. You need at least 60 points in every
event and 300 points total. That "every event" clause is what fails otherwise
strong soldiers. You can be excellent at four events and still fail the whole test
by falling one repetition short on the fifth. It is not an average. Every event has
to clear the bar on its own.

 Why age and sex matter

The performance required for each point moves with age and sex. A 21-year-old and
a 45-year-old who both run the same two-mile time do not get the same points,
because the standards are set separately for each age bracket. This is also why
any calculator that does not ask for your age and sex cannot give you a real score.
It is guessing.

The fastest way to check where you stand

Reading the point charts by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. I put together a
free calculator that scores all five events against the current AFT standards for
your age and sex, shows each event scored, gives your total out of 500, and tells
you straight whether you pass:

https://fitcalchq.com/aft-calculator

If you want the full scoring rules written out rather than just the calculator,
this guide breaks them down event by event:

https://fitcalchq.com/guides/how-is-the-aft-scored

Train to clear 60 in your weakest event first. That single rule protects you from
the most common way people fail a test they were otherwise ready for.
