5 awesome open-source products launched on Product Hunt in 2026

OpenClaw

Launched last February on Product Hunt, the AI that "actually does things" is the fastest ever growing project on GitHub with 300k+ stars and 70k+ forks. It created a new category, enabling 50+ related products like moltbook (acquired by Meta) and KiloClaw - both ranked #1 Product of the Day.

Kilo Code

First launched last year, the open-source agentic engineering platform (19k+ GitHub stars) launched a code reviewer and a new VS Code extension this year. Both ranked #1 Product of the Day and #1 Product of the Week.

InsForge

The backend platform launched 2.0, hit 10k GitHub stars, ranked #1 Product of the Day, #3 Product of the Week, and joined YC. The Product Hunt effect?

Tailgrids

The 3.0 release of this React UI library ranked #1 Product of the Day.

Ghost

The latest project by @haydenbleasel, maker of next-forge, Kibo UI, and Ultracite, just cracked Product Hunt again, ranked #1 Product of the Day.

Last week, Kilo Code launched for the fourth time on Product Hunt, introducing a new VS Code extension. The product ranked #1 Product of the Day and #1 Product of the Week.

I had the opportunity to work on this launch. Here's a breakdown of what we did and how to apply it to your launch.

TL,DR

Keep the tagline relatable to your audience
Show the product in your image gallery
Engage with the community thoughtfully

Reverse-engineering Kilo's recent Product Hunt launch

Straightforward tagline. The 60-character tagline might be the most important part of a launch. It's the first thing you see on the front page. Here, we highlighted the features, not the benefits.
Minimalist visual assets. The image gallery is the first impression of your product. It sets expectations. We highlighted 3 images. No stock images, no marketing fluff. Just product screenshots. Show the product.
Feedback first. Like the tagline and the visual assets, we kept the first comments simple. No looooooong background stories, the objective is to start the conversation. We upvote and replied to every comment, curious about what the community thinks of the release.

Keeping the momentum

There's one more thing we experimented with for this launch. Post-launch, the team started running a display ad campaign. The objective is to keep the momentum going.

TwelveLabs just introduced Pegasus 1.5, their most significant leap in generative video AI, transforming video into a queryable, structured data asset.

They're launching today on Product Hunt.

Fun fact: This is their 2nd official launch there.

Previously, the video AI company launched Marengo 3.0 in December 2025. They ranked among the Top Products and got featured in Product Hunt's newsletters. This new launch keeps the momentum going.

Once again, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the team on this new launch and wanted to share with you some lessons learned and how we approached this launch.

Lessons learned launching on Product Hunt

Planning a new launch starts with the required inputs:

Name of the launch: 40 characters max. We kept it simple: TwelveLabs Pegasus 1.5.
Tagline: 60 characters max. The tagline might be the most important part of a launch, so we made multiple iterations to find a balance, highlighting the key features while keeping it relatable.
Description: 500 characters max. We made it shorter, in 246 characters.
Launch tags: up to 3 tags.
Thumbnail: Product Hunt supports GIF files so we were able to add a nice animated image (only plays on hover).
Image gallery: Product Hunt recommends adding 3 or more images. Above all, we wanted to show the product. We framed product screenshots and added a headline and subheadline for context.

Product Hunt is about consistency

Above all, the #1 lesson learned is that launching on Product Hunt definitely isn't a one-time opportunity.

Keep it simple, and keep launching. That's it!
