Address Autocomplete, Email & Phone Validation for Shopify Checkout: What's New in Fetchify 3.4.0

We've just released version 3.4.0 of Fetchify for Shopify, and it's a big one, even though you won't need to lift a finger. Address autocomplete, postcode lookup, and email validation at checkout have all been rebuilt from the ground up. So, the customer data validation tools your store relies on look better, load faster, and stay reliable as Shopify keeps evolving.

Here's what's changed, in plain terms.

A checkout that feels truly native to your store

Postcode Lookup, Address Auto-Complete, and Email Validation now use the same building blocks Shopify itself uses to build checkout. In practice, that means:

If something goes wrong looking up an address, shoppers now see a clear message instead of a confusing dead-end suggestion.

● It matches your store automatically; fields, buttons and messages pick up your store's own fonts, colours and branding, so they look like a natural part of checkout instead of a bolt-on.
● It's quicker; the new components are built to load faster, so shoppers see the address and email fields appear sooner.
● It works consistently everywhere - mobile, desktop, and for shoppers using assistive technology; checkout behaves the same reliable way.
● It keeps getting better, because we're building on the same foundation Shopify actively develops; new checkout improvements reach your store faster.

We've also fixed a small but frustrating detail: if an address lookup fails, shoppers used to see something that looked like a normal, selectable suggestion. Now it's clearly marked as an error, so there's no confusion about what happened.

Built to last, not just to launch

It's not only checkout that's had an upgrade. The Fetchify dashboard you use inside Shopify, where you manage your plan, track usage, and reach support, has also been rebuilt on the latest technology Shopify recommends for its apps.

Your Fetchify dashboard, rebuilt on Shopify's latest recommended app technology.

For you, that means:

● Fewer surprises: security and reliability improvements from Shopify reach the app sooner, so issues get caught and fixed faster.
● New features, sooner: we can adopt Shopify's latest capabilities as soon as they're available, instead of being held back by an outdated setup.
● A more responsive team: our own development process is quicker now too, which means the gap between us building an improvement and you receiving it is shorter.

 Clearer, safer, and more transparent

We've also made it much clearer exactly what Fetchify can and can't see in your store. The app now asks for one clearly named, read-only permission covering checkout and account settings, nothing more. It cannot write to, change, or export your store or customer data.

Because that permission is now stated explicitly, you may be asked to review and approve it the next time you open the app in your Shopify dashboard. That's expected, and it's a good thing: it means you can see precisely what you're approving.

Part of a wider toolkit for validating customer data at checkout

This release focuses on address autocomplete and email validation, but it's also part of Fetchify's broader approach to catching bad customer data before it becomes a failed delivery, a bounced confirmation email, or a fraud risk. Alongside Postcode Lookup and Address Auto-Complete, Fetchify also offers real-time phone number validation, so stores can verify that a shopper's phone number is genuine and correctly formatted at the exact moment they enter it, not after the order has already shipped.

 What you need to do

Nothing. The update applies automatically, with no setup or reconfiguration on your end. Your existing Postcode Lookup, Address Auto-Complete, and Email Validation settings carry over exactly as they were.

 Not using Fetchify yet?

See what accurate address autocomplete, email validation, and phone validation can do for your store. New sign-ups get 1,000 free lookups to try Postcode Lookup, Address Auto-Complete, Email Validation, and Phone Validation, no card required.

Sign up at fetchify.com to claim your free lookups, or email support@fetchify.com with any questions.

Cleaner US ZIP Codes: Automatic ZIP+4 Exclusion in Fetchify's Address Autocomplete API

If you build checkout, shipping, or CRM forms for US customers, you've probably run into the ZIP+4 code, the extended, nine-digit US postal format that looks like 90210-1234. The last four digits pinpoint a delivery route down to a specific building, floor, or even a mail slot. Useful for USPS routing, less useful when your order management system, courier API, or CRM only expects a standard five-digit ZIP code.

Fetchify's Address Autocomplete API now supports automatic ZIP+4 exclusion, so every US address lookup can return a clean five-digit ZIP code by default, no regex, no post-processing, no extra code on your end.

Why the ZIP+4 format causes problems downstream

US ZIP+4 codes are great for postal routing, but they create friction almost everywhere else in a typical order or address validation flow:

● Courier compatibility: many shipping platforms and courier APIs are built around the standard five-digit ZIP and will reject, truncate, or mangle the +4 suffix, causing failed label creation or delayed fulfilment.
● Address-validation errors at checkout: mismatched or unexpected ZIP formats are a common cause of failed address validation during checkout, especially when the field is validated against a five-digit pattern.
● Messy order and customer data: a consistent five-digit ZIP is far easier to store, deduplicate, and match against records in your CRM, ERP, or accounting software.
● Manual clean-up: without this option, teams end up writing their own string-splitting logic to strip the +4 suffix after every lookup, one more thing to maintain.

How ZIP+4 exclusion works in Fetchify

You can enable ZIP+4 exclusion in either of the two ways you already integrate with Fetchify's USA address lookup API:

1. Calling the Address Autocomplete API directly
Add the usa_exclude_zip_plus4 flag to the extra object on your Find or Retrieve request. Setting it to true strips the plus-four suffix from any US ZIP code in the response:

2. Using the **clicktoaddress-js JavaScript library**
If you're using Fetchify's clicktoaddress-js library to power an address search box on your site, set the excludeZipPlusFour configuration option to true when you initialize the widget:

Why it matters for your integration

● Better courier compatibility: keep orders flowing smoothly to fulfilment and delivery partners built around the standard five-digit ZIP.
● Cleaner order data: a consistent, five-digit US ZIP code format is easier to validate, store, and match against your database.
● Fewer failed shipments: reduce address-validation errors at checkout and during label creation caused by unexpected ZIP formats.
● Zero extra engineering: it's a single configuration flag — no need to post-process or reformat address data yourself.

 Getting started

Both the API flag and the JavaScript option default to false, so existing integrations are completely unaffected until you turn ZIP+4 exclusion on. Update your integration whenever you're ready — there's no breaking change to plan around.

Bring Address, Phone, and Email Validation to Your PrestaShop 9 Store

The Fetchify address search and validation module for PrestaShop has just received an update that broadens compatibility with the latest PrestaShop releases and tidies up a couple of configuration details that were tripping up store owners.

What Fetchify Does
For anyone unfamiliar, Fetchify adds three core capabilities to a PrestaShop checkout or address form:

● Address Auto-Complete — as a customer types into the Address Search field, the module surfaces matching address suggestions for the selected country, cutting down on typos and abandoned forms.

● UK Postcode Lookup — for UK addresses specifically, customers can enter their postcode and click the "Find Address" button that Fetchify adds to the form. This generates a dropdown of matching addresses to choose from, auto-filling the rest of the fields.

● Phone and Email Validation — as customers fill in their contact details, Fetchify validates the format in real time, showing a green checkmark for valid entries or a red cross for invalid ones.

What's New in 2.5.0
Released on June 29, 2026, this update has been tested against:
● PrestaShop 9.0.3 with the Classic theme
● PrestaShop 9.0.3 with the Hummingbird theme
● PrestaShop 9.1.4 with the Classic theme
● PrestaShop 9.1.4 with the Hummingbird theme

Three changes headline this release:

PrestaShop 9.0 and 9.1 support — merchants running the newest major version of PrestaShop, on either the Classic or Hummingbird theme, can now run Fetchify without compatibility concerns.

A cleaner UK postcode configuration — previously, there was a config option that allowed the UK postcode "Find Address" button to appear even when a customer had selected a non-UK country, which was a source of confusion for both merchants setting things up and customers seeing a UK-specific button on a non-UK form. That option has been removed, so the button now only appears when it's actually relevant.

Reorganized autocomplete settings — the Address Auto-Complete configuration screen has been reordered so that related options sit together, with the most important settings (like "Show logo" and "Lock country field") moved to the top of the list. This is a backend-only change with no effect on storefront behaviour, but it should make the module noticeably easier to configure, especially for merchants setting it up for the first time.

Start a trial for free (1000 lookups)
PrestaShop documentation

Should You Update?

If your store is running PrestaShop 9.0 or 9.1, this update is essentially required to keep Fetchify working correctly. Even on earlier PrestaShop versions, the postcode button fix and the cleaner settings layout are welcome bits of housekeeping that make the module simpler to live with. As always, test on a staging environment before rolling out to production, particularly if you've customised your address forms or checkout theme.
