What I Learned as a Real Working Developer

My name is Furqan Akbar. I am a Web Developer and Linux
Server Administrator from Srinagar, Kashmir, India. I work
as a Server Manager at Elyspace full-time, and as a
Front-End Developer at FadaHosting, part-time.

This is not a motivational post. This is what I actually
learned on the job that nobody told me before I started.

Courses Teach You Skills. Work Teaches You Responsibility

When I was studying for my BCA degree, I learned how things
are supposed to work. When I got my first real job, I learned
how things actually work.

A server does not care that you just learned something new.
A client does not care that it is late at night. When
something breaks in production, you fix it. That sense of
responsibility is something no course teaches you.

Linux Is Not Scary After You Use It Every Day

I manage Linux servers daily at Elyspace. Ubuntu, CentOS,
WHM, cPanel, SSH, DNS, SSL. When I started, some of these
felt overwhelming. After real production work, they feel
like second nature.

The only way to learn Linux properly is to use it on real
systems with real consequences. Sandbox practice is good, but it does not build the same confidence.

Frontend and Server Work Together More Than You Think

Working both as a Front-End Developer at FadaHosting and as
A Server Manager at Elyspace gave me something most
developers do not have. I understand both sides.

I know why a poorly configured server makes a beautiful
frontend feel slow. I know why clean frontend code makes
server logs easier to read. Both skills make each other
stronger.

You Do Not Need to Know Everything to Start

When I started working, I did not know everything. I still
do not. But I showed up, I solved problems, and I kept

Alongside that, I work part-time as a Front-End Developer
