The Seven Depths Four Fusion Rungs: Which AI Level for Each Step

The seven depths run vertically: learn, win, think, find, act, build, lead — each step one level deeper. The four fusion rungs run horizontally: tool, assistant, partner, symbiont — each rung one inch more trust surrendered. Cross the two axes and the question sharpens: at the depth of step seven, which rung of AI are you using?

Most people mismatch in a pattern: shallow steps get high rungs, deep steps stay at tool level. AI writes the weekly report (step-one work) at partner level, while actual thinking (step three) treats it as a search box. Trust spent where it isn't needed; depth stuck where it's needed most.

Step One: Learn → Tool level is exactly right

Learning needs explanation, examples, error correction — that's Q&A, not delegation. Tool-level distrust is a virtue here: challenge every explanation for its basis, verify every conclusion yourself. Those who skip rungs at this step learn "what AI said," not "what I understand."

Self-check: In what you're learning now, can you explain it to someone for ten minutes without AI? Yes — right rung. No — you've outsourced learning.

Step Two: Win → Assistant level fits

Winning is completing a well-defined task: pass the exam, land the project. Delegation starts paying — AI drills you, organizes errors, simulates opponents. But acceptance criteria stay in your hands: you judge whether its tactics fit this fight.

Self-check: When you win, can you say which 30% was its credit and which 70% yours? If not, the rung has crossed the line.

Step Three: Think → Beware partner level

Thinking is producing your own judgment. At this step, AI as sparring partner (tool level: probe, rebut, supply material) is a superpower; AI as partner (forming positions for you) is slow poison — the thinking muscle only atrophies. The iron rule of this step: borrow its mirror, never its brain.

Self-check: The last time you changed an important view, did you draft your own position first and then invite its challenge — or take its draft first and patch it? The latter is already substitution.

Step Four: Find → Tool level plus a map

Finding is defining the problem: locating work worth doing. Here AI is a telescope, not a guide — it scans more domains than anyone, but the weights of "what matters" must be yours. Let it list a hundred directions; you draw your own coordinate system.

Self-check: Your current direction — picked from its list, or grown from your own pain?

Step Five: Act → Assistant level accelerates

Acting is adjusting during execution. Execution details (scheduling, monitoring, drafts) can be heavily delegated — this is where assistant level pays best. But the "should we pivot" decision points stay in your hands, and every delegated loop keeps a brake you can pull.

Self-check: Among what it executes for you, how many things can you no longer explain the mechanics of, only watch the results? More than one — execution is going black-box.

Step Six: Build → The right battlefield for partner level

Building is making something new: products, systems, works. This is partner level's natural territory — you set taste and standards, it carries implementation and iteration. Not reaching partner level here is waste: one person cannot build this era's complexity alone. Result-only acceptance is fine, because built things carry their own tests (users, markets, physics).

Self-check: Do you and it have a stable division — you supply judgment, it supplies output? Yes — healthy rung. Either doing everything yourself or handing over everything — both are disease.

Step Seven: Lead → The only sanctioned entrance to symbiosis

Leading is defining where a field should go. At this step, your conversation history with AI is itself an asset: your taste trained it, its height supports you. Symbiosis here isn't risk but necessity — a single brain can no longer hold this level of complexity. But the entrance has a precondition: you have genuinely walked all six prior steps. The skipper's symbiosis is duckweed — scattered by the first wind.

Self-check: In the field you lead, can you trace the full path of the previous six steps? Yes — symbiosis is compounding on accumulation. No — it's a hothouse for illusion.

One Diagonal Across the 28 Cells

Draw seven steps against four rungs and the healthy path is a diagonal: shallow steps low-trust, authority rising stepwise, symbiosis permitted only at the deepest point of leading. Rung is not status but calibration — ask at every step "how much trust does this depth deserve." That is how you make both frameworks actually work.

The seven depths and four fusion rungs both come from the tech-civilization framework at psyverse.fun. This is the first crossing of the two chapters.

The Four Fusions Self-Check: Which Rung of the Ladder Are You On?

The four fusions are not a manifesto — they are a slope. No morning will you wake up "fusion complete." There is only a measurable ladder: tool, assistant, partner, symbiont. The difference between rungs is not hours of use, but the structure of trust.

 Rung One: Tool

Signature: you decide everything; AI is just a faster typist. One question in, one answer out, and you verify everything afterward. This rung cannot be skipped — only someone who has been a tool's master earns the right to move up.

Self-check: Can you fully explain every conclusion AI gives you? Yes — healthy tool level. No — a dangerous skip ahead.

 Rung Two: Assistant

Signature: you start delegating tasks, not just asking questions. Draft documents, research, meeting notes. You still review every word of output — but your standard shifts from "is it right" to "what needs changing."

Self-check: Last week, did you delegate something and accept it with three or fewer edits? If yes, the delegation-trust loop is forming.

 Rung Three: Partner

Signature: division of labor emerges. Some domains you hand over entirely, intervening only when results look wrong; in others it works under you. You start saying "we": how do we break this problem down.

Self-check: Is there a class of tasks where you can no longer describe the steps, only inspect the results? One such class — partner level. None — still assistant.

 Rung Four: Symbiont

Signature: mutual shaping. Your judgment is trained by it; its output is calibrated by you; the boundary blurs — you no longer distinguish "my idea" from "my idea after its prompt." This rung has no ceremony; you can only confirm it in retrospect.

Self-check: In the past month, have you changed a long-held conviction and cannot quite say whether you thought of it yourself or the conversation did? If yes — you are already in symbiosis.

 The Rules of the Ladder

Three. First: no skipping — someone who never was a master and jumps straight to partner pays with outsourced judgment. Second: rungs vary by domain — writing can reach partner level; investment decisions maybe should stay at tool level forever. Third: stepping down is a skill — when you notice it getting dumber and you getting lazier in some domain, drop back one rung and recalibrate.

The end of fusion is not the myth of "human-machine oneness." It is knowing, for every domain, which rung you are on — and that you chose it.

The four fusions come from the tech-civilization framework at psyverse.fun — four fusions, five worlds, six forces. This is the self-check companion to Chapter 4 there.

Dynamic Rebalancing of the Five Elements: A Quarterly Element Audit

The five-element personality is not a birth label but a flowing ratio. Metal, wood, water, fire, earth coexist in everyone — in different proportions. And proportions shift with seasons, projects, life stages. The real use is not "test once, labeled for life" — it is a quarterly element audit.

The audit: review 90 days of behavior (not thoughts), score each element 0-10. Metal: hard decisions made, things cut. Wood: new things started, fields learned. Water: changes adapted, conflicts dissolved. Fire: things ignited, positions taken. Earth: pressures withstood, promises kept.

Common imbalances: excess metal (many decisions, many enemies) needs water to drain. Excess wood (many starts, few finishes) needs metal to prune. Excess water (much adapting, few stands) needs earth to settle — write three non-negotiable principles. Excess fire needs water to temper — turn passion into calendar. Excess earth needs wood to loosen — create one controlled chaos.

The target is not 20% each. Healthy: dominant element 4 (your gift), supporting 3, regulating 2, dormant 1. The dormant is your blind spot — don't activate it; partner with someone whose dominant is your dormant.

The time rule: at major life transitions, ratios reshuffle — a dormant element may suddenly demand activation. Spotting the drift one quarter early costs ten times less than repairing an exploded imbalance.

The five elements are not fortune-telling; they are self-management accounting: elements are accounts, behaviors are vouchers, quarterly audits make ratios visible.

Full framework: psyverse.fun

The Dialogue of Civilization: Five Worlds x Six Forces, A Historical Replay

The five worlds are vertical: physical, biological, social, computational, conscious — reality stacks bottom-up. The six forces are horizontal: technology, land, government, finance, AGI, religion — forces travel laterally through the layers. Overlay the two into a coordinate system and human history becomes a replayable game record.

Act one: forces in the physical and biological layers. Hunting age: the force was land. Agricultural age: land plus technology. Government and finance had not yet formed — their media (bodies, labor) were still submerged in survival.

Act two: forces rise into the social layer. Cities appear; government forms (bodies organized); finance is born (labor priced); religion reaches its power peak. The Middle Ages were religion's zenith — it occupied the highest point of the conscious layer and legislated for the social one.

Act three: forces shift into the computational layer. Printing was the first rehearsal; the internet, the formal relocation of the capital. In this layer technology completed its substitution of religion: the power to explain the world passed from clergy to engineers. Finance followed — money itself became symbolized.

Act four (underway): forces approach the conscious layer. AGI is the sixth force's declaration — it works directly on the conscious layer. When algorithms generate opinions, shape aesthetics, influence decisions, the main battlefield reaches the top layer for the first time. This act's ending remains unwritten.

The replay's law: every ascension of a force liberates the old layer and colonizes the new. Industrial revolution: liberated muscle, colonized attention. Internet: liberated information, colonized privacy. What AGI will liberate and colonize — this century's question.

Full game record: psyverse.fun

Six Domains x Six Forces: Finding Your Intersection

Two frameworks covered separately: the six domains (matter, information, life, mind, relation, symbol) answer "where to work"; the six forces (technology, land, government, finance, AGI, religion) answer "what flows". Cross them and you get a 6x6 personal positioning map — 36 cells, each a unique survival configuration.

Some high-value cells. Matter x technology: smart manufacturing, robotics. Information x finance: quant, risk. Life x AGI: AlphaFold, AI drug discovery. Mind x symbol: education, narrative design. Relation x government: policy tech, governance.

The intersection's value comes from asymmetry: matter people don't understand information; information people don't understand life. You needn't top both sides — understanding the opposite side 20% more than pure single-domain players puts you where 80% cannot reach. Translation is forever scarcer than depth.

Reverse use: diagnose your position. If your skills crowd into one cell — zero-sum competition. If your skills sit in one cell and your network in another — you're already standing on an intersection without realizing it's an asset.

The time dimension: cells heat and cool. Fintech was the hot corner a decade ago, now crowded; life x AGI is open land today, infrastructure in ten years. Choosing a cell isn't chasing trends — it's judging which intersection just crossed the usable line. Too early: martyr; too late: denominator.

Strategy in one line: reach survival depth in one domain, keep a hunter's curiosity in adjacent domains — when the intersection opens, you're the natural candidate.

Full map: psyverse.fun

The Thirteen Steps, Team Edition: How Organizations Run the Loop

The thirteen-step loop was designed for individuals: inner construction → real-world interaction → amplification → refinement and rebirth. But organizations run the loop too — most of them wrongly. An individual running it wrong wastes a life; an organization wastes resources multiplied by headcount.

Organic step one (personal 1-4): culture-building, capability reserves, direction calibration. Most organizations skip straight to running — substituting hiring for cultivation, meetings for thinking. Weak inner construction: three years on dividends, three on inertia, debt from year seven.

Step two (5-7): market validation, customer collision, product iteration. Healthy organizations institutionalize rejection — weekly reviews of why clients said no. Sick ones rationalize it. The former collects information; the latter burns morale.

Step three (8-10): scaling, replication, system-building. Raising money to scale the unvalidated equals amplifying noise ten-thousandfold while paying interest. The precondition for scale is not ambition — it is "unit economics already working".

Step four (11-13): layoffs or pivots, zeroing the business, second founding. The hardest step: successful organizations find zeroing harder than failing ones — profit is inertia, brand is a shackle, the team is sunk cost. Every great company's second curve was born in a quarter when it dared to bet the first curve's profits.

The biggest difference: tempo. A personal cycle runs about two years; an organizational one about five — but each organizational step carries a hundred times the stakes. Hence the loop dashboard: construction = net talent inflow; interaction = rejection-to-learning conversion; amplification = unit economics; rebirth = second-business revenue share. Four numbers on one wall, more honest than any strategy deck.

Full loop: psyverse.fun

The Ordering Ethics of Truth, Good, Beauty: Foundation, Structure, Emergence

Three principles: truth, good, beauty. Most treat them as parallel values — all good, all wanted. But they are not parallel: there is a strict architectural order — truth is the foundation, good the structure, beauty the emergence. Get the order wrong, everything collapses.

Truth is the foundation: the ground all thought and action must eventually meet. Good without truth is false charity (well-meant help based on wrong facts often backfires); beauty without truth is decoration. Testing truth needs no one else — you can verify facts alone. That is its foundational nature: it does not depend on the rest of the structure.

Good is the structure: built on truth, deciding what to build and how. But good cannot self-verify: what you think is good may rest on false information (donated to a scam) or wrong judgment. Good needs truth as its inspector.

Beauty is the emergence: when truth runs deep enough and good holds steady enough, beauty appears on its own — no pursuit required. Pursuing beauty while skipping truth and good yields performance: exquisite form, hollow content. Great beauty is never manufactured alone; it is always a byproduct.

The order is the morality: truth before good (acting on goodwill without fact-checking is a hazardous good), good before beauty (beautifying the unverified is whitewash). For the individual, a sequence of cultivation; for organizations, a decision flow; for civilization, a historical lesson.

Three self-checks: When did I last skip fact-checking for goodwill? When did I last beautify something unverified for image? When did I last experience unpursued beauty?

The Six-Force Checkup: Diagnosing Which Force Is Passing Through You

The six-force model: technology, land, government, finance, AGI, religion — six forces pass through humans as light through glass. The human is a carrier, not an actor. The model's greatest use is diagnosing yourself: right now, which force is passing through you?

Symptom check. Technology passing through you: your attention is defined by tools (you don't know what to do without your phone); you judge feasibility by "is there an app for it". Finance: you measure every choice by return rate, including which book to read. Government: your possibility boundary is drawn by "does policy allow it".

Religion: you carry a list of unquestionable beliefs. Land: your identity is defined by birthplace or property; mobility panics you. AGI: you outsource judgment to recommendation algorithms; your opinion distribution matches your feed distribution.

Diagnosis is not accusation. Being passed through is normal — the problem is being passed through by one force only. A single-force carrier has no shape: a pure tech carrier becomes a tool; a pure finance carrier, a walking ROI; a pure algorithm carrier, a data point.

Rebalancing: deliberately invite a second force. The tech carrier reads history; the finance carrier creates; the algorithm carrier handwrites long-form. Where two forces cross, you have your own angle — single-force carriers are megaphones; crossings produce viewpoints.

Run the checkup quarterly: ask each force "what is it doing through me right now". "Transmitting" = healthy medium. "Occupying" = colonized by a single force.

Full framework: psyverse.fun

Double-Entry for Two Identities: The Creator x Seeker Weekly Reconciliation

Two identities: Creator (outward: business empires, wealth and influence, reshaping the outer world through enterprise) x Seeker (inward: truth, self-knowledge, philosophical foundations, shaping the inner world through inquiry). Most people's error is not choosing the wrong identity — it's keeping only one side's books.

The Creator's ledger: what shippable thing did I create this week? Assets (reusable), relationships (callable), reputation (endorseable). The Creator's currency is compound interest — are all three accumulating, or all depleting?

The Seeker's ledger: what changed in my understanding this week? An old belief revised, a new framework absorbed, a self-misunderstanding seen through. The Seeker's currency is clarity — not how much you read, but whether the world looks sharper or blurrier afterward.

Reconciliation rules: every large Creator expense must have a matching Seeker entry of understanding (do you understand how the money you earn arrives?); every deep Seeker insight must have a matching Creator attempt at application. Unreconciled identities rot — a pure Creator becomes a machine that no longer knows why it fights; a pure Seeker becomes a critic who never acts.

Time windows: the Creator's cycle is short (weekly), the Seeker's long (quarterly). Weekly books allow no deficit (shipping cannot stop); quarterly books allow plateaus.

The single test of identity health: your creating deepens your seeking; your seeking sharpens your creating. When they excuse each other ("too busy to think" / "I'll act once it's clear"), the identity is already bankrupt — the books just haven't shown it yet.

Operationalizing the One Mission: Turning Solve Real Problems into a Usable Sieve

The One Mission says: use science, technology, and engineering to solve real problems, meet people's needs, and create new possibilities. Every word is a sieve — but most people hang it on the wall instead of using it.

The "real" sieve: if this problem stays unsolved, does someone actually suffer? Yes — real problem. No but annoying — experience problem. Neither but cool — fantasy problem. All three are worth doing; only the first deserves "mission-grade".

The "solve" sieve: does your approach make the problem disappear, or make it better endured? Painkillers endure; vaccines disappear. Endurance plays have markets; disappearance plays have history. Decide which you're building before you start.

The "need" sieve: paying behavior is a hundred times more honest than stated preference. Watch shopping carts, renewal rates, midnight search terms — not surveys.

The "new possibility" sieve: when your solution ships, what exists that didn't? "A cheaper me-too product" — you optimized stock; "a behavior that was impossible" — you created increment. The mission favors increment.

Final operationalization: each sieve gets a measurable signal. Realness = people spread it unpaid. Solution = users come back after leaving. Need = payment conversion without discounts. Possibility = competitors pivot toward your direction. Three of four lit — the mission is on track.

A mission is not a goal; it is a set of sieves. Goals complete. Sieves work every day.

Reading the Crossroads: The Elimination Tournament of AGI's Eleven Paths

AGI has eleven paths: mathematical (fractals, entropy), biological (evolutionary simulation), brain-structure, brain-thinking (empiricism, rationalism, analogy, Bayesian), plus two honestly marked unrealized: Einsteinian thought and emotion. But the paths are not parallel lanes — they are an elimination tournament. Every few years a path is proven dead or absorbed into another.

The tournament has one criterion: which path first builds "an improver that improves itself". Symbolism once led, surpassed by statistical learning; evolutionary methods had their moment, marginalized by gradient descent; today's Transformers are an engineering hybrid of empiricism and Bayes. Paths are merging, not competing.

Three identification methods. One, watch the money: the truly hopeful path absorbs 80% of resources. Two, watch citation networks: papers cited by all camps are the future's common foundation. Three, classify the bottleneck: compute bottlenecks are engineering (will resolve); data bottlenecks are structural (hard); paradigm bottlenecks are dead ends (will reroute).

The two "unrealized" paths are the best bets. Einsteinian thinking — thought experiments from minimal data — is exactly what large models lack and what reasoning models approach. Emotion — a compression algorithm for value judgment — if proven necessary, will turn the whole field.

Personal lesson: the tournament of paths is a tournament of practitioners. Those betting on a single paradigm expire with it; those betting on the north star — "an improver that improves itself" — survive paradigm shifts.

The Four-Axis Compass: A Weekly Self-Check for Truth, Good, Beauty, World

The vertical axis of the sixteen visions is fourfold: seek truth, do good, make beauty, serve the world. The ladder answers "what to build"; the four axes answer "why build it". But axes should not stay slogans — they can become a weekly self-check.

Truth axis: did you actively try to falsify one of your beliefs this week? Truth's enemy is not the lie but the comfortable half-truth.

Good axis: what did you do this week whose beneficiary was not you? Good is not charity — writing something that saves others time is good; publishing a pitfall so others avoid it is good.

Beauty axis: did you do one thing that "didn't need to be that well done, but you did it anyway"? Beauty defined: the complete meshing of form and intent. Clear comments are beauty; correct variable names are beauty.

World axis: would your work this week be missed in a world without you? Serving the world does not require grandeur; it requires connection.

The four axes are not parallel; they are counterweights. Truth alone goes cold; good alone goes soft; beauty alone spins empty; world-service alone burns out.

Usage: every Sunday night, score each axis 0-2, four weeks running. Your distribution exposes your type — high scores mark your gift, low scores your risk. An eight-point life is more honest than any KPI.

Full compass: psyverse.fun
