When someone searches for a coupon, they want a discount they can actually use.

That’s the problem I’m working on with CouponLab. Finding codes is part of the work. Trying them and figuring out whether they’re useful is the part I care about most.

A page full of offers can look useful. But if you reach checkout and none of them apply, that page hasn’t helped you much.

I want CouponLab to be useful at that moment.

Where AI fits in

My approach involves finding coupons and trying them, with AI helping along the way.

I’m interested in what AI can do for this workflow, but there’s a limit to what I’d want to claim based on its output. A code that looks valid still needs to be tried. An offer description alone doesn’t tell me whether the discount will apply.

For me, the test is whether the offer works under the conditions being checked.

Even then, I need to be careful with the wording. A successful test doesn’t mean a coupon will work for every person or every order. That distinction matters when someone is deciding whether to spend time trying it.

What this means for the website

This is shaping how I think about the interface.

I want someone to understand the offer before copying the code. What is the discount? Are there restrictions? What do we actually know about whether it works?

Those details deserve space alongside the button.

One design question I’m thinking through is how to communicate testing clearly. A short label is convenient, but it can hide a lot of context. I’d like to show useful information about a check without making every coupon card feel like a document.

I don’t have the final answer yet. It’s something I want to get right as the site develops.

I’m also considering an Android app

Eventually, I’d like to bring CouponLab to Google Play.

The part I’m still deciding is what would make the app worth installing. Finding a coupon is often a quick task, and a mobile website may already be enough for that.

Saving offers, following favorite stores, and getting optional expiration reminders are features I’m considering. They could give people a reason to come back, but I haven’t settled on the first version.

For now, my focus is the core experience: finding coupons, trying them, and making the results easier to understand.

That’s the part I want to make useful before expanding further.

If you’ve worked on a product where information can become outdated quickly, I’d be interested in how you showed users what had been checked—and when.

I’m building CouponLab to help people find coupons they can actually use. AI helps me find offers; I try them myself. Here to share what I’m learning, g...
