About five years ago, I created a VS Code theme called Brownie.

I was looking for something a little different from the usual blue and purple themes. I've always liked warm, earthy colors, especially shades of brown, caramel, and orange. So I decided to make my own.

I used it for years, but eventually stopped updating it. It still worked, I still liked it, and honestly, I didn't feel the need to change much.

Recently, I felt like giving it another go.

With some help from AI (especially on the technical side), I ended up rebuilding quite a bit of the project. What started as a simple refresh turned into a much bigger update than I originally planned.

Brownie now has six color variants, including both dark and light themes, inspired by chocolate, salted caramel, berries, and pistachio.

I also added better syntax highlighting, improved contrast, and built a small website where you can preview the different themes.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The original Brownie is still there at heart, just with a few new flavors.

If you're into warm colors and want something a little different for your editor, feel free to have a look.

Website

VS Code Marketplace

GitHub

That's pretty much it. Just wanted to share a little personal project I've enjoyed bringing back to life. 🙂
