A native code editor for developers who want to work with source files away from their desk.

CodeMate helps you read, navigate, and edit source code on your iPhone and iPad. Whether you're reviewing a project, studying an unfamiliar codebase, or making a quick change while away from your Mac, CodeMate gives you a focused editing experience designed for mobile devices.

What you can do

Read code comfortably: Syntax highlighting for 200+ file formats, including Swift, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, HTML, CSS, JSON, and Markdown.

Navigate large files: Use multiple tabs, a minimap, line numbers, and jump-to-line navigation.

Work with your files: Open files through the iOS Files app, including files stored in iCloud Drive and Dropbox.

Preview web pages: Open local HTML files and preview them with linked CSS and JavaScript.

Move projects to your device: Transfer a ZIP archive over your local network and open its files in CodeMate.

Customize your editor: Adjust themes, fonts, spacing, and other reading preferences.

A companion to your development environment

CodeMate isn't intended to replace Xcode, VS Code, or a full development environment. It doesn't provide a general-purpose compiler or terminal. Instead, it focuses on making source code easier to inspect, understand, and edit on a touch screen.

If you use AI coding tools to generate projects, CodeMate can also be useful for reviewing generated source files and making lightweight edits on your iPhone or iPad.

Available for iPhone and iPad.

Website: https://codemateapp.net

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/codemate-code-editor-viewer/id680609457

Disclosure: I'm the developer of CodeMate and welcome honest feedback about the mobile code-editing experience.
