How to Automate SEO Content for Your SaaS — My Exact Workflow as a Solo Founder

I launched a SaaS 3 weeks ago. Since then I've written 50+ blog posts, cross-posted to Dev.to, and started seeing Google traffic trickle in.

The only reason I can do this as a solo founder is automation.

Here's the exact system — no theory, just workflow.

 The Problem

Every indie hacker knows they need SEO content. Most don't do it because:

Writing a good post takes 3-5 hours

Results take 3-6 months

Freelance writers cost $200-500/post

Generic AI content sounds robotic and doesn't rank

 My Automation Stack

 Manual System (Works, Costs $0)

Find keyword opportunities in Google Search Console + Keyword Planner

Use AI to draft an outline — headings, key points, questions to answer

Write from the outline — add real examples from your experience

Run through an EEAT checklist — real numbers? specific tools? actual stories?

Cross-post to Dev.to with canonical URL back to your site

Publish once a week. Same day. No exceptions.

This takes about 1 hour per post instead of 3-5.

 What Actually Moves the Needle

After 3 weeks of data:

Dev.to drove more traffic in week 1 than Google Search

Comparison pages rank fastest ("vs ChatGPT" pages got Google impressions within days)

Google indexes about 30% of pages in week 1. The rest take 2-4 weeks

One post answering a real question is worth ten generic posts

 What NOT to Do

Don't publish 50 posts in a week then nothing for months. Consistency beats bursts.

Don't target keywords you can't win. Pick low-hanging fruit.

Don't use generic AI content. Add your story, your data, your voice.

Don't neglect on-page SEO. Meta descriptions, URL slugs, headings — free wins.

 The 3-Month Plan

Week 1: 3 cornerstone posts (your best content)

Weeks 2-4: 1 post/week, cross-post everywhere

Month 2: 2 posts/week, start building backlinks

Month 3: 2 posts/week + double down on what's working

Most indie hackers quit after 2 months because "SEO doesn't work." They wrote 8 posts and expected to rank #1.

SEO is slow until it's fast. Month 3 feels like nothing. Month 4 is when compounding kicks in. Month 6 is when you wonder why you didn't start sooner.

I built a tool called SEO Spark that automates this entire workflow — pick a keyword, get an SEO-optimized blog post in 60 seconds. But the system works without it too.

What's your SEO workflow? I'm still learning and would love to hear what works for others.

I Analyzed 200 Small Business Blogs — Here's What I Found

Last weekend, I did something boring so you don't have to.

I looked at 200 small business blogs — plumbers, lawyers, dentists, accountants, roofing companies — and analyzed why most get zero traffic from Google.

Out of 200, only 8 were getting consistent organic traffic. The rest? Nothing. Content graveyards.

Here's what the 192 failing blogs had in common:

Mistake #1: Writing for Themselves, Not for Search Intent

A plumbing company wrote "Our Commitment to Quality Service." Zero searches. Zero traffic.

The plumber that ranked wrote "How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Burst Pipe in Chicago" — a question real people search for every day.

Most common titles from the failing blogs:

"Why We're the Best XYZ"

"Our Company Values"

"What to Expect When You Work With Us"

These aren't blog posts. They're brochures. Google doesn't rank brochures.

 Mistake #2: Inconsistent Publishing

The average blog among the 192 had 14 total posts. Written over 3 years. That's less than one post every three months.

Google rewards freshness. One post then silence for 6 months = Google assumes your blog is dead.

The winning 8 all published at least once a week for 6+ months. Not perfectly. Just consistently.

One was a roofing company in Texas. Short posts, bad grammar, zero formatting. But they published every Tuesday at 9am for 8 months. They were getting 2,000+ monthly visitors.

 Mistake #3: No Keyword Strategy

Most went after keywords like "best lawyer" — 10,000+ monthly searches with insane competition. A small business against national directories and billion-dollar marketplaces? Not happening.

The winning 8 targeted specific long-tail keywords:

"How much does a roof replacement cost in Austin TX"

"What happens if my landlord won't fix the AC in Los Angeles"

50-200 searches per month. But they could actually rank for these.

The One Thing the Winning 8 Did Differently

It's not talent. Not luck. Not a big budget.

They had a system. One post per week. One keyword per post. One question answered per post. Same day every week. For months without stopping.

Consistency + the right keywords + actually useful content.

I built a tool called SEO Spark that automates this exact system. Pick a keyword, it writes a structured blog post in 60 seconds.

The businesses that quit after 2 months because "SEO doesn't work" wrote 8 posts and expected to rank #1. The ones who win treat blogging like a gym membership. No results after one workout. After 6 months? Completely different.

110 Pages of SEO Content — What I Learned Building SEO Spark

I spent the last week building 110 pages of SEO content for my SaaS. Here is what I learned.

Google starts sending traffic around day 3. 24 visitors so far.

Dev.to cross-posting brought more traffic than any other channel.

Comparison pages rank fastest. vs ChatGPT, vs Jasper, vs SurferSEO all getting impressions.

Writing one page takes 5 minutes with AI. The hard part is keyword selection.

Google has indexed maybe 20 of 110 pages. The rest are pending.

Still early. Data is trending up. 114 visitors. Day 5.

I built SEO Spark — AI blog posts in 60 seconds. 3 free articles, no credit card.

Small business owners Google tax questions all year. Business expense deductions. 1099 vs W-2. Estimated tax deadlines. Every article answering these is a potential client.

Tax season is year-round for SEO. Build a library of tax guides.

Industry-specific content converts best. Tax deductions for real estate agents. Bookkeeping tips for restaurants.

Domain Authority — What It Is and How to Improve It

Domain Authority is not a Google metric. Moz invented it. But it is useful — it predicts ranking potential well.

What moves DA up: backlinks from high-DA sites, aging domain, consistently publishing, mentions on reputable sites.

What does NOT: social shares, traffic volume, number of pages, keyword rankings.

The truth: do not obsess over DA. Focus on writing helpful content and getting real backlinks. DA follows naturally.

Most new sites launch invisible. Google does not know they exist.

Before launch: install Search Console. Submit sitemap. Write 5 articles targeting specific keywords. Add structured data.

Week 1: submit to 10 free directories. Share articles on social. Request indexing for every page.

Month 1: 2 articles per week. Build 10 backlinks from directories and guest posts. Check Search Console weekly.

I built SEO Spark for step 3 — 60 seconds per article. 3 free.

Guest posting is not dead. Bad guest posting is dead.

How to do it right:

Google "[industry] + write for us". Find 10 blogs.

Read 3 recent posts from each. Understand what they publish.

Pitch a specific topic they have not covered. 2-sentence outline. No generic templates.

Write one great post. Link to your best resource in the author bio.

This takes 15 minutes per pitch. Works 50 percent of the time. One good guest post brings links and traffic for years.

Long-Tail Keywords — The Easy Way to Rank on Google

Every small business fights for the big keywords. Bad strategy. Long-tail is where the easy traffic hides.

Forget "dentist New York." Target "affordable Invisalign Brooklyn Heights." Less volume. Way less competition. And people searching it are ready to book. Long-tail converts 2.5x better.

Free tools to find them: Google autocomplete. AlsoAsked.com. AnswerThePublic. Type your main keyword. Watch what Google suggests. Each suggestion is a long-tail keyword waiting to be targeted.

SEO Spark — target any keyword in 60 seconds. 3 free.

How to Blog Consistently Without Burning Out

The number one reason small business blogs fail: inconsistency.

Fix:

Use AI to draft 2 articles Monday morning. Done before lunch.

Edit Tuesday and Wednesday. Add personal stories.

Schedule for Thursday and next Monday.

Never miss twice. Skipping one week is fine. Two in a row kills momentum.

SEO Spark — draft 2 articles in 5 minutes. 3 free.
