An OSS tale, or 2!

Y'all, happy monday and happy DST (for those that celebrates it :-D)

So, fresh out of the oven I have a new blog post: An OSS tale, or 2!

Please send feedback, here or there...

This is a tale about my first OSS contributions to GitLab repository.

Here is a small excerpt from to full article:

So, a month or so ago (or maybe more), I started poking around GitLab repo.

And here is the link to my first ever MR: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/merge_requests/132470

TL'DR: this is the second one, but the first in the Community Fork (which had a chance to be merged).

In case you are curious about a GitLab OSS tale, or 2, please click in the link ahead for the full article: HAC Blog > An OSS tale, or 2!

Hi there esteemed gentleperson,
My post about
app
subdomain routing is live.

This was an interesting post to write and I appreciate your feedback.

I took me under 45 minutes (or so) to write 80% of it.
And it took me about 4-6 hours, split in 2 days, to have it ready to be published!

You can read the full article here!

See y'all,

It took me a few days to clear up the deck of priority tasks, but here I am: The world of Passkeys (permanent link)

It was surprisingly easy to write this up... But I certainly feel like I have more about this topic to write!
But this will go as is!

If you like it... If you have comments or questions... ;-)

./Helio

Next up: The World of Passkeys

Hi there y'all!
Happy Friday to all who celebrate!

My next post is about Passkeys!
Have you heard about it?! Do you know what it is?
Do you have questions about it?!

So, I've gotten to know what this is about a month or two ago when I stumbled upon an article saying Google has enabled usage of Passkeys on Gmail!

A few weeks or maybe a month later, a ruby-passkeys gem showed up on my social/tech radar! It was the first public release candidate (or something along this nature).

So that was it: that is all I needed to get started on it.
So, I've done some research, spent about 1 month (not full time) studying and reading about it, started contributing with the Ruby-Passkeys gem, wrote & presented a meetup talk, setup and run a demo on my laptop, and here I am!

So, my goal now is to write a post about it.
If you have any question or want to know something about Passkeys, please send it my way (https://ruby.social/@hacrods), and I will try to answer.

Disclaimer
: I am no expert in the matter, but if I don't know the answer to any of your questions I will study and read more to try to find an answer, and if I still fail, I will gently let you know (and keep tabs on that question!)! :D

If you want to start learning about it, I'd suggest you start here: https://passkeys.dev/

See y'all!

./Helio
