if a system is complex, it's not simple to understand or modify. so software complexity is how obvious the system is to users.

In this post, I’ll share my thoughts on software complexity, and I welcome any feedback.

Every software engineer wants to reduce system complexity. But where does this complexity come from, and what are the symptoms of software complexity?

In this post, I’ll share my thoughts on software complexity, and I welcome any feedback.

As Oscar Wilde said, "Experience is merely the name men gave to their mistakes"

The lessons I learned in 2023 will never be forgotten.

Check out my post to see if these insights resonate with your own experiences.

Replay Production Traffic for Testing

Production traffic is valuable for testing because it contains diverse requests that can cover many edge cases.

In software testing, the earlier a bug is found, the cheaper it is to fix.

But can you replay production traffic to test your system? What if the system has many dependencies? What about the state?

This post shares my experiences and lessons learned from replaying production traffic for testing.

Testing Dilemma: Using Production Traffic for Testing

You Don't know Chain of Responsibility Pattern

The Chain of Responsibility pattern is very appealing to me.

In this pattern, the request and receiver are decoupled, and each handler is isolated, forming a chain of handlers to process the request.

However, after using it in my project, I realized that I had been using it incorrectly. I misunderstood the Chain of Responsibility.

Check out this post before considering using it. Chain of Responsibility — To Use It or Not To Use It

All design patterns share a common goal: isolating code within programs. Each pattern uses abstractions to isolate changes, ensuring that modifying one part of the code doesn’t necessarily require changes in unrelated parts.

Check this post to see if you can use the CoR pattern in your project.

Insert and Update commands should not be used interchangeably, as doing so can lead to erratic behavior. Check this post to learn the difference. Feedback is appreciated.
