Recently, I have planned to record every other day in attempts to create as many useful SwiftUI tutorials as possible and set them to an upload schedule. So far it's going to plan and I am enjoying it! I was a bit nervous at first but I am starting to feel more comfortable sat behind a mic.

If you are interested in Swift, Apple development or just want to support me please feel free to check out my channel:
iOS Developers

As a native iOS Developer it's always nice to see what other iOS developers are getting up to, the projects they are working on and to learn about any apps that they might have released.

If you have released an app on the App Store, feel free to post a link below and tell me a little more about it and I will be more than happy to give it a download and provide some user feedback.

I also have a question, what's the initial reason as to why you got into iOS dev in the first place?

For me, I have always used Apple products (Major Apple Fan Boy). My day to day life includes me using multiple apps created by not only large companies but indie devs too. I started out my development career as a web dev but always wanted to learn iOS app development. Roughly, 4 years ago I took the plunge into starting my app development journey. I have only one regret... I wish that I started the journey sooner!

Freelancing: create a brand or not?

I’m unsure on this topic. Whilst freelancing do you represent yourself as yourself or do you create a ‘brand’/company to trade as?

I would like your thoughts on which one comes across as more professional and wether you think it really matters as long as your work and customer service is professional.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this matter.

Today I Managed to get around to creating my browser extension for my mobile app Notie. I managed to get the functionality working and dialled in. I’ve just got to make changes to the ui and get that finalised then port it over to Safari. Hopefully that all goes okay.

What browser extensions have you developed (if any)?

As you may have seen the other day I posted about my app and about it getting released onto the App Store.

Here’s a little update for you. Since making the post I have seen an increase in users in another six countries. So thank you all who downloaded it and used it!

So now, that’s a total of twelve countries with the highest users in the UK & USA.

I know to most this is a small achievement but to me it’s something special so thank you all.

If you wish to check it out here us the App Store link. Download Notie App

Let me hear about your app successes and fails …

Thank you!

NDA’s Yes or No?

So today I found that an app I had designed is now live on the App Store. It got me thinking, I wasn’t notified or anything ( I know they don’t have to) but out of curtesy I thought they would have mentioned that it went live with the UI designed.

NDA’s are they worth it? I signed one for this company to do said work. I’m all honesty I fail to see the need for NDA’s and think they’re not needed 100% of the time but I also see it from the other point of view.

What’s peoples thoughts on these and do you sign them?

Having used SwiftUi for awhile now and having just dabbled here and there with React native, Swift has been my go to as such. Recently I’ve found myself using React native a lot more and chosen to use that to build my new app.

What’s your go to and why? Feel free to link any apps that you have released on the App Store :)

I started recording programming videos?

It's currently Sunday 17th April (Happy Easter!) I woke up this morning and decided I wanted to try and do something different.

So, I made a coffee, had my porridge and booted up my MacBook with the idea of recording a couple of videos covering SwiftUI and the process of integrating Firebase. For experienced developers this is a breeze but for newbies just starting their adventure in Swift and mobile development it can be daunting.

The first video I recorded and released covers the process of setting up an Xcode project, setting up Firebase, adding and initialising the Firebase SDK. Pretty simple right?..

The reason behind the sudden desire to release a few videos here and there, is mainly to be more active in the community and offer help to people just starting out.

I plan on recording setting up Auth, managing users , signing in etc. Next week.

If you have a spare couple of minutes and wish to check out the video here it is: Video Link

Thank you for reading!
Happy Coding!

Releasing my first iOS app.

On April 4th, I released my first ever app to the app store. I started my iOS dev journey early 2020. I have created many apps since then but never released one until now.

Although the app that I decided to release is nothing spectacular or 'unique', nothing matches the feeling of seeing your app get accepted onto the Apple Appstore and knowing it's out there and can be downloaded by anyone.. It felt like I won the lottery.

Notie, is a simple note taking app that you can use everyday to make quick and easy notes without any hassle. Currently Notie stores data on the users device but in the coming months I plan to implement CloudKit to allow the data to sync across all the users apple devices.

As I write this my app has been downloaded in 6 countries , has a five start rating and is used by many day to day. I am pleased with those stats and hope to see them rise in the future.

If you would like to view and download the app here is the app store link: Notie

I will be posting my indie mobile app developer journey along with tips, my project progress and other developer related content on my future posts.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Happy Coding!
