In 2023, we inaugurated the era of Language Model Language (LLM), driven by pioneers such as ChatGPT, its partners at Microsoft with Copilot, and the emergence of a promising challenger, the French startup Mistral AI.

This year marked a turning point in the world of open source, with an exceptional novelty: the advent of an unexpected player, the young company Mistral AI. However, the real revelation was the meteoric rise of OpenAI, which not only celebrated its fifth anniversary, but also overcame a “Steve Jobs” crisis. In one week, OpenAI could have given birth to both an “Apple” and a “NeXT” of artificial intelligence, but thanks to informed decisions, the offending board was replaced.

Throughout 2023, Apple stayed away from discussions on AI, while Google launched Bard a few months after the arrival of ChatGPT. However, Apple, now focused on selling mobile devices rather than desktop computers, took the initiative by reinventing the wheel with a fork of PyTorch, thus highlighting the LLM on its favorite terrain: the smartphone .

LLM, despite its high consumption of GPUs for servers, is on the way to becoming the equivalent of Linux in the field of free computing. Even if traditional machine learning has not said its last word, to be a truly universal technology, LLM must be viable not only on powerful servers, but also on more modest devices such as a Raspberry Pi 3, a high-end smartphone or a gaming PC equipped with an Nvidia RTX 3050.

While GNU/Linux and BSD UNIXes have successfully made this transition, LLMs must follow the same path for the benefit of everyone, from data centers to the average person, even if he or she does not master the intricacies of TensorFlow. Apple, Google and the open source community now have the same strengths, and the future of the LLM lies in its adoption at all levels of society.

We would like to draw your attention to the crucial issues facing companies specializing
in artificial intelligence (AI) and IT security. Today, these players must not only create innovative
solutions to ensure data protection, but also take into account the ecological aspect in the provision
of their solutions.
The advent of AI has opened up exciting new vistas in IT security. Technological advances in this
field have made it possible to develop intelligent systems capable of proactively detecting,
analyzing and preventing digital threats. However, this technological revolution comes with
challenges that require special attention.
Today, sustainability and the protection of our environment are key concerns. Companies must now
actively engage in reducing their carbon footprint and integrate eco-responsible practices into all
aspects of their business. This awareness also extends to the field of IT security, where AI-based
solutions must be designed to minimize their environmental impact while ensuring effective
protection against cyber threats.

AI 2.0: The Evolution of the Open Source Movement

Introduction
The year 2023, dubbed "Year 1 of Artificial Intelligence", is emerging as a period of rebirth for the
open source movement. Paradoxically, this year has dispelled the ambiguities surrounding open
source code for the benefit of commercial companies that take this approach to serve their
customers.
Open Source, sometimes perceived as both "elitist" and "communist", is actually omnipresent in our
daily lives. From Firefox to Wikipedia, from Android to macOS XI and its derivatives on Apple
devices, not forgetting GNU/Linux distributions such as Debian, Gentoo and Slackware, each of us
uses in one way or another free software.
The Foundation for Current and Future Computing
Free software is the fundamental foundation of contemporary and future computing. Withstanding
the onslaught of IBM and Microsoft in the 1990s, as well as their successors in the 2000s and
2020s, it owes its resilience to the Internet and the passion of developers, requiring mainly
intellectual investment. Just give it GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) and a text editor, and it will
build you an operating system with all the necessary applications. Programming languages such as
C and C++ have spawned a plethora of languages like Python, JavaScript, and PHP.
Artificial Intelligence: Fruit of Universities, Silicon Valley and Open Source
Artificial Intelligence, like Athena springing from the mind of Zeus, owes its existence to the union
of universities, Silicon Valley companies and the open source movement. A company that openly
shares its sources with its customers and evolves together with them will not only be able to
integrate AI internally, but also design products with increased efficiency. Cynically, this would also
lead to substantial savings in research and development.
The Open Source Developer Advantage: Autonomy and AI-Assisted Collaboration
The open source developer enjoys a considerable advantage: autonomy. True, he follows the
guidelines of the system architect and contributes to the repository, but he does his work diligently,
alone or with the assistance of AI. This approach allows projects to evolve quickly and adapt
smoothly to new technologies and changing needs.
Conclusion
In sum, 2023 is emerging as a period of convergence between Artificial Intelligence and the open
source movement, where technological innovation and commercial efficiency merge harmoniously.
The growing adoption of open source by enterprises, coupled with collaboration with autonomous
developers, heralds an exciting era where the foundations of today's computing marry with the
promise of AI.

The Impact of AI on Writing Code

AI has seen a real revolution thanks to advances such as Chat GPT, which have taken it out of labs,
keynotes and deep tech startups. Along with similar technologies such as Mid Journey and DALL-
E, generative AI is currently redefining graphic arts. However, its impact is not limited to this area
alone. Indeed, Chat GPT challenges the very profession of developer, which has implications for the
concepts of DevOps, DevSecOps and MLOps.
Source code writing, deployment testing, and security tasks are often time-consuming, exhausting
on staff, and require investment of time and money. In the video game sector it is common to accept
this reality with the concept of "crunch", but this is not always the case in other areas of computing,
and it is completely understandable . This is why it is appropriate to consider, in the long term, the
replacement of non-essential staff members, such as developers, forgetting outsourcing to countries
such as India or Pakistan.
It is undeniable that the human is less productive, efficient and more likely to generate functional
bugs, logical errors and security problems compared to an AI. Humans often tend to copy-paste
source code from sites like Stack Overflow, thereby ignoring copyrights and software licenses. This
can ultimately lead to legal issues for the company that employs these developers.
However, the goal of this evolution is not to completely replace the human, but rather to reorganize
the roles and responsibilities within the development teams. Developers will be able to focus on
higher value tasks, such as designing and optimizing generative AI models, overseeing model
training, and interpreting results. Generative AI, on the other hand, will be able to take over coding,
testing and deployment tasks, thus speeding up the development cycle and reducing the risk of
errors.
In conclusion, generative AI, represented here by Chat GPT, opens up new perspectives in the field
of programming. Although it challenges some traditional aspects of the developer profession, it also
offers many opportunities to increase the efficiency and quality of software development processes.
Companies that know how to adapt to this evolution will be able to benefit from better productivity,
reduced costs and optimization of their human resources.
