Generative AI made it easy to draft slides. It did not make LMS delivery go away.

If you build training for associations or internal L&D teams, the hard part is rarely "can the model write paragraphs." The hard part is turning subject-matter expertise into structured learning that a learning management system can track—usually via SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 packages.

What changed

Chat-based authoring ("vibe coding" for courses) lets a subject-matter expert describe topic, audience, and goals in plain language. A pedagogy-aware agent can draft outcomes, storyboards, slides or scrolling lessons, scripts, and narration. That collapses the blank-page problem.

What did not change

Outcomes still need to be explicit.
Assessments still need to measure something real.
Delivery still has to land in the LMS the organization already uses.

A practical distinction

AI presentation tools optimize for decks and visual storytelling. SCORM authoring tools optimize for packaged learning with completion/score tracking. Teams get burned when they buy the first category and expect the second.

A short evaluation checklist

Can SMEs draft without becoming full-time instructional designers?
Can you export SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004?
Can you update one source and keep multiple LMS destinations in sync (dispatch-style workflows)?
Do you also need instructor-led delivery, not only self-paced modules?
