If you use Material UI icons in a React/Next project, you’ve probably searched for an icon name just to check what it looks like.

I built MUI Icon Preview, a small VS Code extension that makes that easier.

When you hover over an icon import from @mui/icons-material, the extension shows a preview of the icon along with useful details, including its name and import statement. You can also open the MUI documentation directly from the popup.

For example, hovering over Sync gives you a quick visual preview without leaving your editor or interrupting your workflow.

🔗 Get MUI Icon Preview: Visual Studio Marketplace

I made this because I wanted a quicker way to recognize and explore MUI icons while coding. I hope it makes your workflow a little smoother too.

If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think—and what you’d like to see improved.
