Short answer: AI agents break because every extra step multiplies the chance of error. The most common failures are infinite loops, wrong or malformed tool calls, runaway costs, lost context, and unsafe actions. To make agents reliable, keep the design simple, set hard limits on steps and spend, validate every tool call, add retries and fallbacks, test the whole trajectory, and keep a human in the loop for risky actions.
At TechPanda, we talk to a lot of GenAI engineers, and the agent story is always the same. The prototype books a meeting, searches the web, and writes a summary like a tiny digital employee. Then it meets real users and starts calling the same tool nine times in a row, inventing arguments, or quietly spending your budget on a task that should have taken three steps.
Agents are the hottest area in generative AI right now, and also the least predictable. Let’s look at why they break and how to build ones that don’t.
What is an AI agent, and why is it fragile?
An AI agent is an LLM that decides its own next step. Instead of following a fixed script, it plans, calls tools (APIs, databases, search, code execution), reads the results, and decides what to do next, often in a loop. This pattern is popularized by research like the ReAct paper, which combined reasoning and acting in one cycle.
That freedom is exactly what makes agents fragile. A normal program does the same thing every time. An agent makes dozens of small probabilistic decisions, and each one can go wrong.
Here’s the math nobody puts in the demo. If each step is 95% reliable, a 10-step task succeeds only about 60% of the time. At 20 steps, it drops to roughly 36%. Reliability doesn’t fade gradually. It compounds against you.

The agent gets stuck in an infinite loop
This is the classic. The agent calls a search tool, doesn’t like the result, calls it again with a slightly different query, and repeats forever. Or it bounces between two tools, each one undoing the other’s work.
Loops happen when the agent can’t tell it has failed, has no concept of “I already tried that,” or is given a goal it can’t actually achieve.
How to fix it:
Set a hard step limit. Cap the maximum number of iterations, for example 10 or 15, and stop cleanly when it’s reached.
Detecting repetition. Track recent tool calls and arguments. If the same call appears three times, break the loop or change strategy.
Add a stop condition. Define clearly what “done” looks like, and what “give up and ask for help” looks like.
Return useful errors. “No results found, try broader terms” guides the agent better than an empty response.

Tool calls fail in all kinds of creative ways
Tool calling is where theory meets reality. Common failures include:
Wrong tool chosen for the job
Malformed arguments, such as a missing field, a string where a number belongs, or an invented parameter
Hallucinated tools that don’t exist
Misread results, where the agent ignores or misinterprets what the tool returned
Tool errors that the agent doesn’t handle gracefully
How to fix it:
Write tool descriptions like documentation for a new teammate. Say what the tool does, when to use it, and when not to. Vague descriptions cause most wrong-tool errors. The tool use documentation from Anthropic is a good reference for structuring them.
Use strict schemas. Define argument types, required fields, and allowed values.
Validate before executing. Check arguments in code, and return a clear error message so the agent can correct itself.
Keep the tool list small. An agent with 40 tools gets confused. Give it the handful it needs for the task.
Make tools forgiving. Accept reasonable variations in input rather than failing on formatting.

Costs and latency spiral out of control
A single user request can trigger a dozen model calls, each carrying a growing conversation history. Costs rise fast, and the response time can stretch to minutes.
The danger is that nothing looks broken. The agent is “working,” just expensively.
How to fix it:
Track cost per task, not only per call.
Set token and budget limits per run, and fail safe when they’re hit.
Use smaller models for simple steps like classification or formatting, and larger ones only for hard reasoning.
Summarize old context instead of resending the entire history every time.
Run independent tool calls in parallel to cut waiting time.

The agent loses context or forgets the goal
Over a long task, agents drift. Early instructions get buried, important results fall out of the context window, and the agent starts solving a slightly different problem than the one you gave it.
How to fix it:
Restate the goal periodically in the prompt.
Keep a short working memory, such as a running plan or checklist the agent updates as it goes.
Store key facts outside the conversation in a scratchpad or database, and retrieve them when needed.
Break big tasks into smaller sub-tasks with clear inputs and outputs.

You made the system more complex than it needed to be
This is the least glamorous but most valuable lesson. Many teams build a multi-agent system with planners, critics, and managers for a problem a simple workflow could solve.
Anthropic’s guide, Building Effective Agents, makes the point well: start with the simplest solution, and add agentic complexity only when it clearly pays off. A fixed chain of steps is far easier to test and debug than an open-ended agent.
How to fix it:
Ask whether the task really needs an agent, or whether a predefined workflow would do.
Use code for the predictable parts and the LLM only for the parts that need judgment.
Add more agents only when a single one demonstrably can’t cope.

Agents take unsafe or irreversible actions
An agent that can send emails, delete records, or spend money can also do it wrongly, or be tricked into doing it. Prompt injection is a real risk: a web page or document the agent reads might contain hidden instructions that hijack its behavior. The OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications lists this alongside excessive agency as a leading concern.
How to fix it:
Apply least privilege. Give the agent only the permissions it truly needs.
Require human approval for sensitive or irreversible actions.
Treat tool outputs and retrieved content as untrusted, not as instructions.
Prefer reversible actions, such as drafts instead of sent emails.
Log every action so you can audit what happened.

You only test the final answer, not the journey
With agents, a correct final answer can hide a terrible process: wasted calls, near-misses, and lucky guesses. A wrong answer, on the other hand, could come from any of ten steps.
How to fix it:
Evaluate trajectories, not just outputs. Check which tools were called, in what order, and with what arguments.
Build a test set of realistic tasks, including edge cases and failures.
Run each test several times, since agents are non-deterministic. A task that passes once may fail one time in five.
Trace every run. Observability tools like Langfuse show the full step-by-step path so you can find where things went wrong.
Use benchmarks for inspiration. Research such as τ-bench tests agents on multi-step tasks with tools and rules, and highlights how consistency across repeated runs is a real challenge.
Reliability patterns that work
If you remember only a few things, make them these:
Limits everywhere: steps, tokens, time, and money.
Retries with backoff for temporary tool failures.
Fallbacks: a simpler path or a human handoff when the agent is stuck.
Checkpoints: save progress so a failed run can resume, not restart.
Structured outputs for decisions that code depends on.
Idempotent tools, so a retried action doesn’t happen twice.
A simple agent-readiness checklist
Is there a hard cap on steps, tokens, and cost?
Can I detect and stop repeated tool calls?
Are tool descriptions clear and schemas strict?
Do I validate arguments before running tools?
Are risky actions behind human approval?
Do I evaluate full trajectories over multiple runs?
Can I trace any run from start to finish?
Is there a graceful fallback when the agent fails?
Frequently asked questions
Why do AI agents get stuck in loops?
They usually can’t recognize failure or remember what they’ve already tried. Hard step limits, repetition detection, and clear stop conditions solve most looping problems.
How do I make LLM tool calling more reliable?
Write clear tool descriptions, use strict schemas, validate arguments in code, keep the toolset small, and return helpful error messages so the agent can recover.
How do I stop an AI agent from overspending?
Set budgets for tokens, steps, and time per task, track cost per run, use smaller models for simple steps, and summarize long histories.
When should I use an agent instead of a simple workflow?
Use an agent only when the task needs flexible, multi-step decisions that you can’t script in advance. If the steps are predictable, a fixed workflow is cheaper, faster, and easier to debug.
How do I test AI agents?
Evaluate the full trajectory, not just the final answer. Run realistic tasks multiple times, check tool usage, and trace every step to find failure points.
Are multi-agent systems more reliable?
Not automatically. They add coordination complexity and more places to fail. Start with a single agent or a simple workflow and add more only when needed.
Final thoughts from TechPanda
Agents are powerful, but they reward humility. The teams we see succeed at TechPanda are not the ones with the most elaborate architectures. They’re the ones who keep things simple, set firm limits, validate every tool call, and measure what the agent actually does, not only what it says.
Think of an agent like a talented new hire on day one. Give it clear instructions, limited permissions, a budget, and someone to check its work on important decisions. As trust is earned through evidence, you can give it more freedom.
Start with one narrow task, make it reliable, and expand from there. That is how you build agents that don’t break.
Thanks for reading! Follow TechPanda for more practical guides on building, evaluating, and scaling AI applications.

Which IT Skills Are Most Valuable for Software Developers in 2026?

Software development is changing quickly. A few years ago, knowing one programming language and having a basic understanding of databases could be enough to start a junior developer role. In 2026, the expectations are broader.
As the demand for modern IT skills continues to grow, choosing the right learning path has become important for aspiring developers. TechPanda provides practical software training across areas such as programming, data, AI, cloud, DevOps, and software testing, helping learners build skills that align with today's technology landscape.
Developers are now working with cloud platforms, AI tools, APIs, containers, automation, data, cybersecurity practices, and collaborative development workflows. At the same time, artificial intelligence is changing how code is written and tested.
This does not mean developers need to learn everything.
The better approach is to build a strong foundation first and then add skills that match the type of software career you want.
So, which IT skills are most valuable for software developers in 2026? Let's look at the skills that are becoming increasingly useful in modern development.

Strong Programming Fundamentals
Programming languages and frameworks change, but fundamental programming concepts remain important.
Developers should understand concepts such as:
Variables and data types
Functions and modules
Object-oriented programming
Data structures and algorithms
Exception handling
Debugging
File handling
Basic memory and performance concepts
Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, and Go are among the languages developers may encounter across different areas of software development.
The important point is not to collect programming languages.
It is better to become comfortable with one language and understand how software actually works.
For example, a developer who understands functions, classes, APIs, debugging, and data structures can usually learn another programming language much more easily.

Python
Python continues to be a particularly useful skill because it is used across several areas of technology.
Developers use Python for:
Web development
Automation
Data analysis
Artificial intelligence
Machine learning
Testing
Scripting
API development
This makes Python especially useful for beginners who want flexibility in choosing a career path later.
A developer doesn't need to learn every Python library. Start with the language itself, then move into libraries and frameworks relevant to your goals.
For learners who want structured, practical training, TechPanda's course programs include Python-related learning paths alongside data, AI, testing, and cloud-focused programs.

SQL and Database Skills
You don't have to become a database administrator to be a good software developer.
But you should understand how applications interact with data.
SQL remains an important skill for developers because most business applications work with databases in some form.
Developers should know how to:
Create and query tables
Filter and sort records
Join multiple tables
Group and aggregate data
Insert, update, and delete records
Understand primary and foreign keys
Identify basic query performance problems
It is also useful to understand the difference between relational databases and NoSQL databases.
A developer who can write clean SQL and understand how data is stored has a major advantage when building real-world applications.

Git and Version Control
Writing code is only one part of software development.
Modern development is collaborative, which means developers need to understand version control.
Git has become a fundamental tool for managing source code.
Developers should be comfortable with commands and concepts such as:
git clone
git add
git commit
git push
git pull
git branch
git merge
More importantly, developers should understand why branches exist, how pull requests work, how to resolve conflicts, and how teams review code.
GitHub and similar platforms also play an important role in collaboration and portfolio building.
For beginners, having several well-documented projects on GitHub can be much more useful than simply listing programming languages on a resume.

API Development and Integration
Modern applications rarely operate alone.
A mobile application may communicate with a backend API. A web application may connect to payment services. An AI application may use an external model API.
Understanding APIs is therefore an increasingly valuable developer skill.
Developers should understand:
REST APIs
HTTP methods
JSON
Authentication
Authorization
Status codes
Request and response handling
API testing
It is also useful to understand concepts such as webhooks, rate limits, and API versioning.
Once you understand APIs, you can connect different technologies and services together instead of building everything from scratch.

Cloud Computing
Software is increasingly deployed on cloud infrastructure rather than traditional on-premise servers.
That makes cloud knowledge useful even for developers who are not planning to become cloud engineers.
Common areas to learn include:
Virtual machines
Storage
Databases
Networking
Identity and access management
Serverless computing
Monitoring
Basic cloud security
Platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud provide services for hosting and running applications.
Developers don't necessarily need to become cloud architects, but understanding how an application moves from local development to a cloud environment is extremely valuable.

DevOps and CI/CD
Another important skill for modern developers is understanding what happens after the code is written.
DevOps practices connect development with deployment and operations.
A developer should have at least a basic understanding of:
Code → Build → Test → Deploy → Monitor
CI/CD tools automate many of these steps.
For example, a development team might configure a pipeline that automatically:
Pulls the latest code
Builds the application
Runs tests
Checks code quality
Creates an artifact
Deploys the application
Tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform are commonly associated with modern DevOps workflows.
Developers who understand this process can work more effectively with cloud and DevOps teams.

Docker and Containerization
“It works on my machine.”
Every developer has heard this sentence.
Containers help reduce this type of problem by packaging an application and its dependencies into a consistent environment.
Developers should understand basic Docker concepts such as:
Images
Containers
Dockerfiles
Volumes
Networks
Container registries
You don't need to become a Kubernetes expert immediately.
Start by understanding why containers exist and how applications are packaged and deployed using them.

Generative AI and AI-Assisted Development
Perhaps the biggest change developers are experiencing in 2026 is the growth of generative AI.
AI coding tools can help developers:
Generate code
Explain unfamiliar code
Create test cases
Find potential bugs
Refactor code
Generate documentation
Explore APIs
Create prototypes
But there is an important distinction between using AI and understanding AI-generated code.
A developer should not blindly copy code produced by an AI tool.
You still need to understand:
What the code does
Whether it is secure
Whether it is efficient
Whether it fits the project
Whether the dependencies are trustworthy
Whether the output actually solves the problem
Prompting is useful, but technical judgment is even more valuable.
For developers interested in going deeper into this area, topics such as LLMs, prompt engineering, AI APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI application development are becoming increasingly relevant.

Testing and Debugging
A developer who can write code but cannot find bugs will struggle in real projects.
Testing should therefore be part of a developer's skill set.
Useful areas include:
Unit testing
Integration testing
API testing
Test automation
Regression testing
End-to-end testing
Debugging
Tools and frameworks vary depending on the programming language and project.
The goal isn't to memorize testing tools.
The goal is to understand how to verify that software behaves correctly.

Cybersecurity Awareness
Security is no longer something developers can completely leave to a separate security team.
Developers should understand common problems such as:
SQL injection
Cross-site scripting
Weak authentication
Exposed credentials
Insecure APIs
Poor access control
Dependency vulnerabilities
Even basic security awareness can prevent serious problems.
A good developer asks not only:
“Does this code work?”
but also:
“Can this code be abused?”

Communication and Problem-Solving
Technical skills are important, but software development is not just about writing code.
Developers work with:
Product managers
Designers
Testers
DevOps engineers
Data teams
Customers
Other developers
Being able to explain a technical problem clearly can save hours of unnecessary work.
Problem-solving is equally important.
When an application crashes, a good developer doesn't immediately start changing random lines of code. They investigate the error, reproduce the problem, check logs, identify possible causes, test a hypothesis, and then apply a solution.
That mindset is valuable regardless of the programming language being used.
How Should You Learn These Skills?
Trying to learn everything at once is one of the biggest mistakes beginners make.
A better roadmap is:
Step 1: Build programming fundamentals
Start with one language such as Python or Java.
Step 2: Learn SQL and Git
Understand databases and version control.
Step 3: Build projects
Don't spend months only watching tutorials.
Build something.
Step 4: Learn APIs
Connect your application to external services.
Step 5: Add cloud fundamentals
Learn how applications are hosted and managed.
Step 6: Understand DevOps
Learn CI/CD, containers, and basic automation.
Step 7: Add AI skills
Learn how developers can responsibly use generative AI and AI APIs.
Step 8: Improve testing and security
Make your projects more reliable and production-ready.
This approach creates a much stronger foundation than trying to master ten different technologies simultaneously.
Final Thoughts
The most valuable IT skills for software developers in 2026 are not limited to a single programming language.
Modern developers need a combination of programming fundamentals, databases, Git, APIs, cloud computing, DevOps, testing, security, and AI awareness.
But that doesn't mean you need to master everything.
Start with the fundamentals. Choose a direction. Build real projects. Learn the tools that support that direction. Then gradually expand your skill set.
For example, someone interested in data may move toward Python, SQL, data analytics, data science, or data engineering. Someone interested in cloud infrastructure may focus more heavily on AWS, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Terraform. A developer interested in AI may explore Python, LLMs, AI APIs, prompt engineering, and generative AI applications.
The technology will continue to change.
The developers who remain valuable will be the ones who can learn new tools, understand the fundamentals, solve problems, and use technology thoughtfully—not simply follow trends.

How to Build a Resume That Gets Shortlisted by Tech Recruiters

A strong technical profile can still get ignored if your resume does not communicate your skills quickly. In many hiring processes, your resume may first be processed by an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) before a recruiter reviews it. ATS software can scan resumes for relevant skills, qualifications, job titles and keywords, making resume structure and job-specific wording important.
For freshers and career-switchers, the challenge is even greater: you may not have years of experience to rely on. Your resume therefore needs to make your skills, projects, certifications and practical evidence immediately visible.
The good news? You do not need a flashy design or a five-page CV. You need a clear, targeted and ATS-friendly resume that answers one question quickly:
“Why is this candidate relevant to this particular tech job?”
What Do Tech Recruiters Actually Scan for in 6 Seconds?
The commonly cited “six-second resume review” is best treated as a useful rule of thumb rather than a universal stopwatch. The practical lesson is simple: recruiters scan before they read deeply.
Your top section should immediately communicate:
• Your name and professional identity
• Target job role
• Core technical skills
• Relevant experience or projects
• Education/certifications
• Location and contact information
• GitHub or portfolio, where relevant
For example, this headline is stronger:
Rahul Kumar
Junior Data Analyst | SQL | Python | Power BI | Excel
than:
Rahul Kumar
Seeking a challenging opportunity to utilize my skills
The second version says almost nothing about what Rahul can actually do.
A recruiter should understand these three things quickly:

What role are you targeting?

What technical skills do you have?

What evidence proves you can use those skills?
That third point is particularly important. Listing “Python” is weaker than showing a Python project where you actually used Python.
LinkedIn's talent research also highlights the growing importance of skills-based hiring and recommends clearly showcasing relevant skills and how you have used them.
How Do You Make an ATS-Friendly Resume?
An ATS, or Applicant Tracking System, helps companies manage large numbers of applications. Depending on the system and employer configuration, it may extract information such as job titles, skills, education and certifications from your resume.
Your objective isn't to “trick” an ATS. It is to make your qualifications easy for software and humans to understand.

Use a simple layout
Prefer:
• One-column layouts
• Clear section headings
• Standard bullet points
• Consistent spacing
• Simple typography
• Conventional resume sections
Avoid unnecessarily complicated:
• Tables
• Text boxes
• Multiple columns
• Infographics
• Skill bars
• Decorative graphics
• Important information inside headers or footers
Indeed's current ATS guidance recommends simple formatting, standard headings and avoiding graphics or complex layouts that can interfere with parsing.

Use standard section names
Use headings such as:
• Professional Summary
• Skills
• Projects
• Work Experience
• Education
• Certifications
Avoid creative alternatives such as:
• “My Journey”
• “What I Know”
• “Where I've Worked”
• “My Learning Zone”
A recruiter might understand them, but standard headings make your resume easier to process.

Match keywords to the job description
Suppose a job description says:
“Experience with SQL, Python, Power BI and data visualization.”
Do not simply write:
Data Tools: SQL, Python, BI
Instead, naturally include the actual terminology:
Technical Skills: SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel, Data Visualization
If the job description uses both an abbreviation and full term, consider including both where natural.
Example:
Microsoft Power BI (Power BI)
Do not stuff keywords repeatedly. The goal is relevance, not repetition.

Choose the correct file format
PDF is commonly accepted, but the employer's application instructions should always take priority. Some systems or employers may request Word formats such as .docx.
Best practice: Keep both a .docx master copy and a PDF version ready.
What Is the Best Fresher Resume Format?
For most freshers, a one-page resume is enough if you can present your strongest qualifications clearly.
A practical structure is:

Name + Target Role
Example:
PRIYA SHARMA
Junior Data Analyst | SQL | Python | Power BI

Contact Information
Include:
• Phone
• Professional email
• LinkedIn
• GitHub
• City/location
Avoid unnecessary personal information.

Professional Summary
Keep it to around 2–3 sentences.
Weak:
Recent graduate looking for an opportunity in a reputed organization where I can improve my skills and contribute to company growth.
Better:
Computer Science graduate trained in SQL, Python, Excel and Power BI, with hands-on experience building data analysis and dashboard projects. Seeking an entry-level Data Analyst role where I can apply analytical and reporting skills to business problems.

Technical Skills
Organize skills logically.
Programming: Python, SQL
Analytics: Excel, Pandas, NumPy
Visualization: Power BI, Tableau
Database: MySQL
Tools: Git, GitHub

Projects
For freshers, projects can be one of the most important sections.

Education
Include:
• Degree
• College/university
• Graduation year
• Relevant specialization

Certifications
Add relevant certifications rather than every course you have ever completed.
How Should You Showcase Projects and GitHub Links?
For freshers, “projects” should not be an afterthought.
A project demonstrates that you can apply a technology rather than merely name it.
Instead of:
E-commerce Project
Used Python and SQL.
Write:
E-commerce Sales Analysis | Python, SQL, Power BI
• Cleaned and analyzed 20,000+ transaction records using Python and SQL.
• Identified monthly revenue, product and customer trends using exploratory data analysis.
• Built a Power BI dashboard to track revenue, orders and category performance.
• Created recommendations based on high-performing products and seasonal sales patterns.
Notice the difference?
The second version tells the recruiter:
Technology + Action + Scale + Outcome
What should your GitHub contain?
Your GitHub profile should support your resume rather than simply exist as a link.
For important projects, include:
• Clear repository name
• README file
• Project objective
• Technologies used
• Dataset/source
• Installation or usage instructions
• Screenshots where useful
• Results or findings
• Clean, readable code
Instead of:
github.com/rahul123/project1
Use descriptive project names such as:
customer-churn-analysis-python
Your GitHub link should lead to something a recruiter can understand in a few minutes.
How Can Freshers Quantify Achievements Without Job Experience?
You don't need corporate experience to use numbers.
Students often have measurable evidence hidden inside their academic work.
Look for:
• Number of records analyzed
• Number of users
• Number of test cases
• Number of APIs
• Number of pages developed
• Model accuracy
• Query performance
• Dataset size
• Project duration
• Number of dashboards
• Number of test scenarios
Weak bullet:
Created a machine learning project for predicting house prices.
Stronger bullet:
Built a house-price prediction model using Python and scikit-learn, training it on 5,000+ property records and evaluating model performance using regression metrics.
For a web developer:
Weak:
Developed a responsive website.
Better:
Developed a responsive e-commerce website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript with 8+ reusable product components and mobile-friendly layouts.
For QA:
Weak:
Tested a web application.
Better:
Designed and executed 80+ functional and regression test cases for an e-commerce application, documenting defects and validating fixes.
Never invent numbers. If you cannot measure something honestly, describe the result qualitatively.
What Technical Resume Mistakes Get Candidates Rejected?
Some resume mistakes are surprisingly basic.

Using one generic resume for every job
A Data Analyst resume and a Python Developer resume should not be identical.
Tailor your:
• Summary
• Skills
• Projects
• Keywords
• Relevant achievements
to the position.

Listing skills you cannot explain
If you put AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, Java, React, Angular, SQL, Machine Learning and DevOps on your resume, expect interviewers to ask about them.
Only include skills you can discuss confidently.

Writing responsibilities instead of achievements
Compare:
Responsible for developing dashboards.
with:
Built Power BI dashboards to monitor sales, revenue and regional performance.
The second communicates actual work.

Using an overly designed template
A visually impressive resume isn't automatically an effective technical resume.
Avoid:
• Skill percentage bars
• Large profile photos
• Heavy graphics
• Decorative icons everywhere
• Complex timelines
• Tiny fonts

Putting contact details in the wrong place
Keep important contact information in the main body of the resume rather than relying on headers or footers, because some ATS tools may not interpret those areas reliably.

Spelling and grammar errors
“Pythn,” “Javasript,” “MySQLl” or inconsistent capitalization can make an otherwise strong candidate look careless.

Including irrelevant information
You don't need to describe every college activity, school achievement or unrelated hobby.
Prioritize information that helps answer:
“Can this candidate perform this job?”
Resume Tips by Tech Role
Different IT jobs require different evidence.
Role Skills to Highlight Project Evidence
Web Developer HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Git Responsive websites, APIs, frontend projects
Python Developer Python, OOP, SQL, APIs, Git Automation tools, REST APIs, Python applications
Data Analyst SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI, Tableau Dashboards, data analysis, business insights
Data Scientist Python, Pandas, ML, statistics Prediction/classification models
QA/Testing Manual Testing, SQL, API Testing, Selenium Test cases, defect reports, automation
DevOps Linux, AWS/Azure, Docker, CI/CD, Git Deployment pipelines, cloud projects
Data Engineer SQL, Python, ETL, AWS, Spark ETL pipelines, data workflows, cloud projects
If you are building your skills for a specific career path, choose projects that mirror the work you want to be hired to perform.
For example, someone targeting analytics can explore TechPanda's Data Analyst Course in Chennai, while an aspiring data scientist can review the Data Science Course in Chennai.
Which Free Tools Can You Use to Build an ATS-Friendly Resume?
You don't need expensive software to create a professional resume.
Useful options include:
• Google Docs — simple resume layouts and easy editing
• Microsoft Word — excellent control over traditional resume formatting
• LinkedIn — useful for aligning your professional profile with your resume
• Indeed's resume resources — useful ATS formatting guidance and examples
When choosing a template, prioritize readability and content over visual decoration.
You can also use an online ATS checker to compare your resume against a specific job description. Treat the score as guidance rather than a guarantee—no tool can guarantee that a recruiter will shortlist you.
Your 10-Minute Resume Checklist Before Applying
Before clicking Apply, check:
• Target job title is clear
• Resume is one page if you're a fresher
• Professional email address is used
• Relevant keywords appear naturally
• Skills match the job description
• Projects include technologies and outcomes
• Numbers are used where genuinely available
• GitHub links work
• LinkedIn URL works
• No spelling mistakes
• Standard headings are used
• No unnecessary graphics or tables
• File format matches the job posting
• Filename is professional
Instead of:
resume_final_latest_new2.pdf
use:

The objective should not be to create a resume that merely “passes ATS.”
The objective is to create a resume that makes your real skills easy to discover.
Final Takeaway: Build Your Resume Around Evidence
The best resume for tech recruiters isn't necessarily the one with the most technologies, the fanciest design or the longest list of certifications.
It is the resume that quickly connects:
Job requirement → Your skill → Your project/experience → Evidence of what you achieved
For freshers, that evidence can come from academic projects, personal projects, internships, certifications, GitHub repositories and practical training.
For career-switchers, transferable experience can be combined with new technical skills and relevant projects.
Keep the formatting simple. Use the employer's language where it accurately describes your skills. Make your projects specific. Quantify genuine results. Remove anything that doesn't strengthen your candidacy.
Most importantly, don't send the same resume everywhere.
Spend a few minutes tailoring it to each relevant role. That small step can make your application significantly more relevant to both automated screening systems and the recruiter reviewing it. Indeed similarly recommends tailoring resumes around the requirements and keywords in individual job descriptions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an ATS-friendly resume?
An ATS-friendly resume uses simple formatting, standard section headings, relevant job-specific keywords and a compatible file format so applicant tracking software can more reliably extract your qualifications.
How long should a fresher's resume be?
For most freshers, one page is ideal when it can contain the most relevant information clearly. A second page can be appropriate when you have substantial, relevant experience or genuinely useful content.
Should I include a photo on my tech resume?
Generally, a photo is unnecessary for a standard technical resume unless the employer or application specifically requests one. Leaving it out also keeps the document focused on job-relevant qualifications.
Should freshers include projects on their resumes?
Yes. Projects are particularly valuable for freshers because they demonstrate how you have applied technical skills. Include the technologies used, what you built, your contribution and measurable results where available.
Should I include every certification on my resume?
No. Prioritize certifications that are relevant to the job you are applying for. Three highly relevant certifications are generally more useful than a long list of unrelated course certificates.

Introduction

Generative AI has transformed how developers build applications. From intelligent chatbots to content generation and coding assistants, AI models can now understand and generate human-like text with remarkable accuracy. In this guide, you'll learn how to build your first AI chatbot using the OpenAI API with Python. This beginner-friendly tutorial covers the essential setup, coding process, and best practices to help you understand how modern AI applications work.

Problem

Many beginners are excited about Generative AI but struggle to know where to start. Common challenges include configuring API access, writing the first API request, handling responses, and understanding prompt design. This guide simplifies the entire process into easy-to-follow steps.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

Basic knowledge of Python
Python 3.10 or later installed
A code editor such as Visual Studio Code
An OpenAI API key
Internet connection
Basic understanding of APIs
Step 1: Install Required Libraries

Install the official OpenAI Python package.

pip install openai

Verify the installation before moving to the next step.
Step 2: Configure Your API Key

Store your API key securely as an environment variable instead of hardcoding it into your script. This helps keep your credentials safe and follows security best practices.
Step 3: Generate Your First AI Response

Create a simple Python script that sends a prompt to the model and displays the generated response.
Example Code
from openai importacnce

OpenAI

client = OpenAI(api_key="YOUR_API_KEY")

response = client.responses.create(
model="gpt-4.1-mini",
input="Explain what Generative AI is in simple words."
)

print(response.output_text)
Output

When you run the program, you'll receive a response similar to:

Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that creates new content such as text, images, code, music, and videos based on the instructions you provide.

The exact wording may vary, but the model will generate a clear explanation based on your prompt.

Common Mistakes

Hardcoding API keys directly into source code.
Using vague prompts that produce inconsistent results.
Forgetting to install required Python packages.
Not handling API errors or rate limits.
Ignoring token usage, which can affect costs.
Publishing API keys in public GitHub repositories.

Best Practices

Write clear and specific prompts.
Keep API keys secure using environment variables.
Test different prompt variations to improve output quality.
Handle exceptions and API failures gracefully.
Organize reusable prompts into separate functions.
Monitor API usage and optimize requests.
Keep the OpenAI SDK updated for new features and improvements.

Conclusion

Building an AI chatbot with the OpenAI API is an excellent starting point for learning Generative AI development. Once you're comfortable with basic text generation, you can expand your projects by integrating document search, conversational memory, image generation, or workflow automation. The key to successful AI applications is combining well-designed prompts with clean, maintainable code.
