What I Built

For this Frontend Challenge: Comfort Food Edition, I wanted to create something beyond a traditional restaurant landing page.

I built Madurai Soul Trail, an immersive frontend experience inspired by Madurai, widely known as the Food Capital of Tamil Nadu. Instead of simply showcasing dishes, the website tells the story of a city where every street has a flavor and every meal carries a legacy.

The experience takes visitors on a cinematic food journey—from fluffy Jasmine Idlis at sunrise to sizzling Kari Dosa, Bun Parotta, Mutton Chukka, and refreshing Jigarthanda under Madurai's vibrant night streets.

The website includes:

🏮 Traditional Mess culture featuring legendary eateries
🌃 Madurai's famous night street food experience
📸 Rich visuals inspired by the city's food culture

📱 Fully responsive design built with modern frontend techniques

The goal was to make visitors feel as though they were walking through Madurai while discovering its legendary food culture.

Journey

This project started with a simple question:

"Can a landing page make someone want to visit a city?"

Rather than creating another restaurant website, I wanted to tell the story of Madurai through frontend development.

I researched Madurai's iconic dishes, traditional mess restaurants, street food culture, and the city's unique atmosphere to create an experience that feels authentic and immersive. My focus wasn't just on displaying food—it was about capturing the energy, culture, and emotions associated with Madurai's culinary heritage.

During development, I concentrated on creating smooth animations, elegant typography, responsive layouts, and an engaging scrolling experience. I used modern frontend techniques to make the page feel like an interactive travel documentary instead of a static landing page.
