Share GitHub Repositories Instead of Instagram Reels

Hey there, fellow internet dwellers! 👋

Remember the last time you spent an hour watching cat videos and random dance challenges on Instagram? Yeah, me too. No judgment here – we've all been there, mindlessly sending reels back and forth until suddenly it's 2 AM and we're watching someone make an elaborate breakfast we'll never actually cook.

 The Better Alternative

But what if I told you there's a more fulfilling way to spend your time and connect with friends? Instead of sending that millionth "wait for it..." video, how about sharing something that could actually level up your skills – like an awesome GitHub repository?

What You Get From GitHub vs Reels

Think about it: While that trending reel might give you 15 seconds of dopamine, a well-maintained GitHub repo could teach you:

A new programming language

Cool project ideas to build

Best practices from experienced developers

Solutions to problems you've been stuck on

 The Mental Health Angle

The best part? Unlike doomscrolling through endless bad news or getting FOMO from perfectly curated social media posts, exploring GitHub actually leaves you feeling productive. Each repository you discover is like opening a treasure chest of knowledge – way better than watching another "day in the life" video, right?

 The Challenge

Here's my challenge to you: Next time you feel the urge to send a reel to your tech-savvy friend, send them an interesting repository instead. Found a cool machine learning project? Share it! Discovered a useful development tool? Spread the love!

Let's make "Have you seen this repo?" the new "Did you see this reel?"

Your brain will thank you, your skills will grow, and hey – you might just build something awesome instead of just watching other people do it.

Who's with me? 🚀

P.S. Feel free to start by sharing this post with a friend who's still stuck in the reels rabbit hole! 😉

Introducing CherrySaaS

CherrySaaS is a 100% open-source Pythonic SaaS template that lets you build crazy beautiful SaaS using Chakra and Radix UIs powered by Reflex. It is currently a work in progress 🚧 and requires community contribution because I don't have the energy to write the entire template. If I were to do an entire template, I would never open-source it as it would become hard to maintain alone. So, I need collaborators and community effort to remain it to be open-sourced. Here's the planning in the notion. Comments are allowed on the notion site.

It is meant for production but requires community contributions to complete. It is currently in work progress but if people make useful contributions, it can be accomplished faster.
The reason is that it is a rare project as no free SaaS template has ever been made in Pure-Python. There are proprietary 2 SaaS templates made using Reflex. (One more drawback, They're expensive) So I decided to make a free one for the community too. I have looked at a SaaS template called shipfast.com (which is getting popular nowadays). Ah, yes this also became an inspiration but I wanted to make one free.

Selling Shovels During The Gold Rush ❌
Giving away shovels for free during the Gold Rush ✔

*If you want to be a collaborator, reach out to me on Discord (adarshgourabmahalik) or post your GitHub email in this discussion. Here's a discord link to preview the landing page of the template. *

Let's get a preview about what I'm building 🚀

In general, is there anything? that I'm missing from my notion plan about the template?

[I copied this one from my own reddit post 😅, because I'm lacking contributors]

Just comment "count me in" for further development for the project.

Improve Your Python Regex Performance Using Rust

I've made a wrapper over the Rust regex crate using PyO3 and maturin. I've named it flpc because it is short and easier to write. It works blazingly fast ⚡
(Only problem is that, it is not a full drop-in replacement for native re module)

pip install flpc

Here's the link to the repository
