What Is the OSHA 30 Class?

The OSHA 30 class is a 30-hour safety training course from OSHA's Outreach Training Program. It's designed for supervisors, foremen, and workers who have safety responsibilities on the job.

There are two versions:

Construction — for workers in building, demolition, and construction-related jobs.
General Industry — for workers in warehouses, manufacturing, and most other non-construction jobs.
Who Needs to Take It?
Site supervisors and foremen
Safety managers and coordinators
Experienced workers moving into leadership roles
Anyone whose employer or state requires it

If you're an entry-level worker with no safety responsibilities, the shorter OSHA 10 class is usually enough instead.

How Long Does It Take?

30 hours is the minimum. Since most courses are self-paced online, you can spread it out — but you'll typically need to finish within 180 days of starting.

What Do You Get When You Finish?

Make sure the provider you pick is an OSHA-authorized Outreach trainer. If it's not authorized, your card won't count as an official OSHA 30 credential — no matter how good the course looks.
