I was dating a girl in college, and I guess kinda wrote this melody for her. I thought it's something I should do. As a composer, so I should be able to write song for someone else. I was also a bit shy about it, so I don't think I really made it clear it was for her when I wrote it. The melody was pretty nice I thought, kinda cute, not too dramatic, peaceful.

Years later, when writing the lyrics, I kinda thought about the idea of separation. Then that's when I start thinking about my mom.

She passed away in 2021.

I think just the concept of separation made me suddenly think about her. I didn't really want to write exactly about her though, somehow that felt a bit uncomfortable. But she did inspire the main theme for the song: A woman in heaven gets reunited with her partner years later.

I liked that idea better, because it didn't feel too close to home, yet still a bit personal.

But it still reminds me of my mom when I hear that line:
"I watched you from above".

I started by learning to play this on the piano, and translated that to synthesizer. For a while, that was really the only song I knew how to play, that and I guess the "Take me with you" melody. But I really loved this melody, and played anyway. I think my roommate got sick of hearing the same thing over and over, but I don't care :-P.

For the lyrics, I just took the original title and made it just about that. A girl's dream ending as she wakes up, and she sees someone that she recognized in her dream.

Here it is, the moment we all feared. That's right, this is the original song. I mean... it was meant a little bit as a cute joke, but the lyrics not that bad after consideration. The AI made the song somehow very meaningful.

This song is very nice to me. I wrote it for my significant other. The original version though, is really something else though.

About this song

It is almost inconceivable for me that this song could exist. From my rambling on a night I was probably drunk, the AI turns it into a song that's pretty well put together. I can't call it that good knowing the backstory, but I have to say, on its own the song is not bad. It's about a man fighting depression and finding that perhaps by not existing, it would make no difference in the world.

It's rather poetic, but was it really by accident? I was really not being serious when I wrote this song... at least I hope not. I actually don't remember.

But one thing that's definitely troubling, is how the AI was able to turn this into a song that, in my opinion, sounds rather decent!

This is gotta be the weirdest experimental piece I came up with.
Frankly, I think this was made more as a joke than anything. I hesitated to share give how terrible it sounds, but I figured if you don't understand French it's probably ok.

I think what I tried was to write the most depressing and pessimistic lyrics anyone could ever come up with. Was I drunk when I wrote this? I can't remember. Hum... definitely yeah.

You'll find the difference between this song and the AI generated result is absolutely massive.

About this song

This song is actually pretty close to what I had in mind. As I'm listening to it again, I find it rather depressing! I think the main thing I like about this song was the "down-du-down-du-down", and I pretty much the entire song around that section. That's why the refrain is not so bad.

That said, for the rest of the lyrics, it was pretty much "whatever rhymes with brown" or something like that.

The melody kinda flows well though. The theme is a bit weird, it's a guy complaining about his town, though the real reason for his depression is a recent breakup.

Alright, this one was a bit strange, but I'm sure you can't wait to...

About the song

There was a part of the melody I really liked, which is the refrain. I kinda thought I could make a whole song out of it, but I think it got a bit repetitive. Towards the end, I added a bunch of variation.

As for the lyrics, I think I just wanted some "unusual" lyrics. Most of the rhymes end with "-own" sound, like "town", "ground", "brown".

I can't say this song is very high on my list. Back them it's one of the first song where I tried to have sang lyrics, but I think they turned out a bit weird even for me.
