A fresh way to use Jira with your browser’s New Tab

Many of us in the tech world are familiar with Jira, the quintessential project management tool.

Personally, I find: most of the time opening Jira for the full information of the ticket unnecessary. So that’s where Wise Dash comes in.

Wise Dash allows you to have an overview of your Jira tickets on the browser’s new tab page. Additionally, Wise Dash integrates with many other third parties to collate and present your data in a personalised dashboard.

So basically, you can think of Wise Dash as the ‘what is my personal overview page’.

Whenever I open my new tab, I can easily see the Jira projects I am working on, with all the active tickets that are assigned to me. I can see the status of the tickets and using the burger menu (I think that's what its called… right?), I can change the status of the ticket.

It is really convenient.

The bonus: A nifty feature of using Wise Dash with the Jira integration is that you have all your other information at an arms length. For example, generally — next to my Jira module is my To Do lists and calendar.

So basically, you can once again think of Wise Dash as offering an overview of your favourite apps and websites and integrating with them all seamlessly.

Try Wise Dash today!

Disclaimer: I am the developer of Wise Dash, so I may or may not be biased :P, but I really am interested to hear what you think or if you have any suggestions for the application. Thanks for reading!

Boost your productivity in 2024 with three easy tools

To be productive you need to have the right work attitude and at least be a bit motivated, however, there are tools that can simplify sticking to your schedule.

1. Wise Dash — A dashboard in your browser to keep you on track
Wise Dash is a browser extension that allows you to see your to do lists, calendar events, Jira, Trello and most likely every other app you can think of all in one spot. The best thing is, that it’s not on a website you have to open but on your new tab. Clicking a new tab to procrastinate watching YouTube? Get reminded instantly of what you told yourself you would be doing instead.

2. Todoist — A powerful and versatile to do list I’m a big fan of ticking off items of a list as it gives you that great little boost of feeling accomplishment. I often write lists on paper but then they get lost, a few items remain on a big list of ticked items and get forgotten or I simply have to rewrite reoccuring tasks. Todoist helps you with all of these problems and adds even more features. The win win is that Wise Dash lets you see your Todoist lists in your new tab to make it even more accessible.

3. Do not disturb — so simple, yet so powerful
It sounds silly and obvious, but how often do you put your devices into do not disturb mode and actually get some uninterrupted time to fully focus on a task?

Here is to a more productive 2024 — cheers!

5 essential browser extensions for 2024

These are some really good browser extensions, if you don’t use them — these extensions are worth a try.

I have really searched for the best ways to stay on top of my busy life and work. It’s not easy task to manage all the apps and passwords these days. I don't even dare to look in my inbox as I fear, it will be full of emails and promotions I don’t want.

Luckily, on my trip around the internet I've found some apps that help me on my journey — and I'm sure they will help you too!

1. Wise Dash
Wise Dash is my go to new-tab extension. Basically, it allows me to have overview of all the other parts of my online life in one convenient dashboard. Wise Dash allows you to connect with many apps and setup your dashboard to give a convenient overview of all the apps you care about.

While working, I'm using Wise Dash to see the status of my Jira tickets, Todoist lists and calendar events. While relaxing, I'm using it to track my Duolingo streak, Chess games and see who's live on Twitch

2. Bitwarden
I wanted to break free of Google Chromes password manager because it locks you in with one browser. Not only that, it’s not end to end encrypted (the good one) and knowing that Google has ultimate control of my passwords did not sit well with me.

Bitwarden is really convenient, cross browser and offers an app for the phone. If you really have a tinfoil hat, you can self host an instance of Bitwarden. Personally I find the online service they offer perfect for me.

3. xBrowserSync
In the same theme of breaking free from one browser and controlling my own data, xBrowserSync allows me to do that. Put really simply: It syncs your browser bookmarks, cross browser and it’s end to end encrypted.

Once again, you are able to use their servers to host your encrypted and anonymous data, or you can host your own server.

4. Mega
Remember that guy from New Zealand that changed his last name to dotcom and had the FBI raid his mansion, seizing his servers and taking control of his filesharing website MegaUpload?

Well, they say in life — when you get knocked down to get back up and keep on going. That is exactly what Kim Dotcom did with mega.nz albeit, learning from some of the mistakes from the previous war on piracy.

Mega.nz is basically Google Drive or OneDrive but actually secure and end to end encrypted — it’s what I trust to store my files.

5. uBlock Origin
Put basically, this stops browser adds. Say goodbye to distractions and annoying popups on a HUGE amount of websites.

To be honest, it’s not even about blocking the adds half the time — it’s about stopping the annoying distractions and popups.

So yeah, that's my 5 recommendations for 2024.

Wise Dash

Bitwarden

xBrowserSync

Mega

uBlock Origin

Breaking the cycle of procrastination: A powerful tool to keep you on track

Procrastination can really impact your life negatively. Wasting time can cause missed deadlines, increased stress, reduced quality of the work you do produce, negative financial consequences and missed opportunities amongst other things.

I often found myself opening my laptop to get work done. I would open a new browser tab and then simply get enticed by the icons of my favourites sites like YouTube and Instagram. I would decide to just have a very quick look before getting started with my work. A brief look quickly turned into half an hour, one hour, two hours and pretending I derseved this little break while the stress of the workload started to increase.

I am so glad I found a tool to help me overcome this by completely changing my browsing experience — Wise Dash.

Wise Dash is a browser extension that allows you to transform your browsers new tab into a custom dashboard. You can link and create to do lists, see you upcoming events, have ChatGPT right at your fingertips, link apps like Trello and Jira and so many more. I can customise everything and decide on the features I want to use allowing me to stay on top of my schedule with this perfect little productivity hub.

Increasing your productivity and avoiding procrastination has never been this easy. Highly recommend!

2024 Resolutions and how to achieve them

Another year another list of resolutions of things to improve and things to let go of.

There is no time like right now. You certainly don’t need to wait for the beginning of a new year to better yourself. Or get the things done you have been putting of. It’s January so we might as well use the extra motivation to get things moving.

What I want to change this year and how I am planning to implement it:

1. Boost my productivity and procrastinate less
To keep myself on track I started using Wise Dash.
Wise Dash is a browser extension that allows me to see my to do lists, calendar events, Jira, Trello and every other app I can think of all in one spot. The best thing is that it’s not on a website I have to open but on my new tab. If I am clicking a new tab to procrastinate watching YouTube I will get reminded instantly of what I told myself I would be doing instead.

2. Cycle 3 times per week
I really love cycling but struggle to make time for it. This year I will go for a ride at least three times every week and track these on Strava. The cool thing with Wise Dash is that I can see my activity right on the dashboard as well so that little nifty extension is gonna help me with two of my resolutions!

3. Make the bed every morning
My desk is in the bedroom and a clean and tidy workspace and space around me helps me to stay focused, be productive and get tasks done. I have set up a to do list on Todoist that I can tick off every morning to ensure I stick to this task and get reminded. Wise Dash let’s me integrate my Todoist lists right on my dashboard as well so once again: Wise Dash is my recommendation to stick to your resolutions in 2024.

Happy 2024 — Cheers!

A powerful tool to help with that babybrain postpartum

That brainfog after having a baby is the real deal. There is so much to do and just not enough hours in the day to stay on top of it all. I mostly struggled with staying on track with tasks on my to do lists as I got so easily distracted when your brain is thinking about 500 things at the same time. One powerful tool has been a game changer for me — Wise Dash. Let me explain:

Wise Dash is an extension for your browser. Every time you open your laptop and open a new tab your customised dashboard with your to do lists, calendar events, reminders and everything you could possibly want pops up to keep you reminded. Wise Dash has numerous app integrations so you can connect it to for example Google Tasks, Microsoft To do, Todoist, Google Calendar, Fitbit, Strava, Jira, Trello and ChatGPT. I have been using it for a while now and ticking of taks has never been this easy and satisfying.

Good luck sticking to those 2024 resolutions, I am sure Wise Dash can help you stay on track. Highly recommend!

Most of us use a laptop or computer on a daily basis. For work, booking holidays, ordering things online or simply browsing around.

However, most of us probably don’t know, that you can improve your browsing experience with one easy but life changing tool:

Wise Dash. A browser extension that allows you to fully customise your new tab page to your individual needs.

I have been working on a new browser extension called Wise Dash.

It transforms your new tab into a dashboard with useful features and all your favourite applications integrated in one spot.

Would be amazing to get some feedback on functionality, looks, integrated apps etc.!

Cheers!
