Stop Re-typing Prompts: Packaging Agent Workflows as Installable Skills

I used to keep a Notion page of "good prompts" for Claude Code. It never worked — I'd forget they existed, or paste the wrong version.

What works: skills — markdown files (SKILL.md) that teach the agent a whole workflow, installed once and invoked with a slash command.

Here's a concrete example from this week. I needed a product launch video for a landing page. Old way: 45 minutes of prompt iteration across two tools. New way:

# in Claude Code, with the skill installed
/ui-morph-loop

The skill walks the agent through: capture the page → plan the morph sequence → generate the loop → export. Same quality, ~10 minutes of my time, most of it waiting.

How to try this pattern yourself (free)

Pick one multi-step task you repeat weekly

Write the steps as a SKILL.md (there's a free skill-creator skill that scaffolds this: https://skillon.dev/en/skills/skill-creator)

Drop it in your agent's skills folder and invoke it with
/your-skill-name

I run a small store of pre-made skills if you'd rather skip the writing part — 400+ for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Copilot: https://skillon.dev

The meta-lesson: the bottleneck in agent workflows was never model capability. It's packaging. A mediocre model with a great skill beats a great model with a blank prompt box.
