Today my team and I launched Sky UI (sky-ui.com) — a glassmorphism React component library. 76 components, chart types, SaaS templates, an MCP server, and a VS Code extension.

But this post isn't just an announcement. It's the story of how a non-technical founder from Chikhli, a small town in Gujarat, India, ended up shipping a developer product to the world.

Why we built it

I run a small agency. Every client project started the same way: rebuilding the same buttons, cards, modals and dashboards — again and again. Off-the-shelf libraries either looked generic or fought us on customization.

We wanted components that look premium out of the box — the frosted-glass, depth-and-light aesthetic you see in modern SaaS products — without needing a design team on every project.

So we built our own. After using it internally on client work, we decided to polish it and release it to everyone.

What's inside

76 components — 26 free forever, the rest in Pro and Ultra tiers. Chart components built for dashboards. Full SaaS templates so you can skip the boilerplate. An MCP server, so AI assistants can work with Sky UI directly. And a VS Code extension for a faster workflow.

What I learned shipping this

First, distribution architecture matters as much as the code. We moved to a CLI-based install, similar in philosophy to shadcn/ui — you get the source code in your own project, not a black-box dependency. Better for security, better for customization.

Second, being non-technical is not the blocker I thought it was. My job was taste, priorities, and unblocking the team. The team's job was engineering. Clear division, honest reviews.

Third, a small town does not mean small ambition. Payment rails, npm, and a good internet connection are the same in Chikhli as they are in San Francisco.
