Claude's download page only detects your OS on a direct visit

I found a small but visible UI bug on Claude's download page, claude.ai/download.

  What happens

Direct visit: the page detects your operating system and shows the matching download options.

Arriving from another page (for example claude.ai/downloads, then "Download for Linux"): the OS check doesn't run. Every platform's button is shown, and the "Windows (arm64)" and "macOS" buttons render on top of each other.

  Steps to reproduce

Open claude.ai/downloads

Click "Download for Linux"

Look at the download buttons on claude.ai/download

Seen in Chrome on Fedora Linux.

  Likely cause

My guess: the OS detection only runs on a full page load, so an in-app navigation renders the fallback "all platforms" layout, and that layout was never checked with all five buttons visible at once.

  Repro video

  // Detect dark theme
  var iframe = document.getElementById('tweet-2113987950342258941-426');
  if (document.body.className.includes('dark-theme')) {
    iframe.src = "https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?id=2113987950342258941&theme=dark"
  }

I posted it first on X on 24 Oct 2026: https://x.com/jameelahmad221b/status/2113987950342258941
