You’ve probably seen something like this:

Is it correct? Yes.
Does it sound natural? Not really.

After working with AI-generated content a lot, I’ve noticed a few consistent patterns.

1. Overuse of formal transitions

Words like:

Furthermore

Additionally

They’re correct—but overused, they feel unnatural.

2. Repetitive sentence structures

AI tends to generate sentences that follow the same rhythm:

“This is important because…”
“This is beneficial because…”
“This is useful because…”

Humans naturally vary sentence patterns.

3. Lack of conversational tone

AI often defaults to a neutral, academic style—even when the context doesn’t need it.

4. “Safe” wording

AI avoids strong opinions or personality, which makes the text feel generic.

5. No real “flow”

The sentences may be correct individually, but the paragraph doesn’t flow naturally.

Before (AI-generated)

“In conclusion, it is essential to recognize that leveraging artificial intelligence tools can significantly improve efficiency and productivity in various domains.”

After (humanized)

“In short, using AI tools can make your work faster and more efficient across many areas.”

Same meaning.
Completely different feel.

You don’t need to throw away AI.

You just need to edit it differently.

✔ 1. Simplify the language

Replace complex phrases with simpler ones.

“It is essential to recognize” → “It’s important to see”
“Leverage” → “use”

✔ 2. Vary sentence structure

Mix short and long sentences.

Humans don’t write in perfect patterns.

✔ 3. Remove unnecessary formality

Ask yourself:

“Would I actually say this in real life?”

If not, rewrite it.

✔ 4. Add natural transitions

Use:

“So…”
“But…”
“Here’s the thing…”
“In short…”

These feel more human.

✔ 5. Read it out loud

If it sounds weird when spoken, it will feel weird when read.
