Why I Built JPGEASY — A Fast, In-Memory Image & PDF Toolkit with Zero Server Uploads

Most online converters and PDF tools follow the exact same frustrating pattern:

They force you to create an account after 2 files.

They hit you with daily caps or paywalls.

Worst of all, they upload your private documents, contracts, and personal photos to remote cloud servers.

To solve this, I built JPGEASY — a free, privacy-first web utility suite that processes all files directly in your browser's local memory buffer.

How It Works Under the Hood

Instead of sending files to a backend server:
In-Memory Buffers: Image resizing, format conversion (JPG, PNG, WebP), and target-size compression are handled client-side using the HTML5 Canvas API and Web Workers.

Document Processing: PDF operations (merging, splitting, e-signing, and watermarking) run via client-side JavaScript.

Zero Retention: The moment you close the tab or download your optimized file, the browser memory is completely cleared.

 Target-Size Compression for Strict Portals

One of the most common user headaches is government exam and visa portals requiring photos under strict limits (e.g., exact 20KB or 50KB).

JPGEASY includes dedicated target-size compressors that intelligently calibrate JPEG quality and dimensions to hit those specific targets automatically.

Check it out live at https://jpgeasy.com — completely free with no accounts and no watermarks.

I would love to hear any feedback or tool suggestions from the developer community!
