Hi guys, I'm looking for some feedback: we’ve just built a new Custom Action in Procesio called Bulk Data Deduplication. Basically we've packed an entire SaaS into this action, designed to merge records or eliminate dupes coming from different sources in CRMs or other databases when you are working with high volumes of data. What do you think, is this something you'd find useful? Let me know of your feedback.

You can find it in the Procesio left-hand app dashboard under Beta.

Choosing the right software tool

Searching for a new software tool can easily become a complex job with so many options available out there. So how can you make a good choice from the start?

API Key Authentication has arrived

You can now use an API key to access the PROCESIO API and perform a wide range of authenticated operations. You can run, add, update, and delete processes, or access process-related resources directly through the API.

PROCESIO SDK

The PROCESIO SDK is now available! The SDK makes it easier to interact with the PROCESIO API from your application. Depending on the technology you are using we provide two ways for accessing your processes:

Date Time, Lists, Numerical, & Strings Actions

Among other new actions we've included on the platform we have the following:

The DateTime folder contains actions that can be used while working with dates, such as: Week Number, Today, Is Weekend. You can read more about the DateTime actions here.

The Lists Action folder contains actions that can be used while working with lists. Details about actions such as: List Add, List Contains, List remove, List Sort are included here.

The Strings Action folder contains actions that can be used while working with strings. Read more about StringTrim, String To Upper, String Starts With, String Join, String NullOrEmpty here.

The Numerical Action folder contains actions that can be used while working with numbers. Learn more about operators such as Add, Subtract, Divide, Modulo operations here.

Use cases with PROCESIO

Over the past month we've been busy working on a few use cases with PROCESIO.Here are the scenarios we've touched on:

MARKETING

Automate marketing emails: send newsletters or drip campaigns to your customers
Enrich data about new leads with information from different sources
Integrate data from reviews and rewards apps to automatically provide reward points or product samples for your customers
Upsell/ cross-sell new products or services from a database to certain contacts based on pre-defined business rules via email or SMS; raise support tickets in platforms such as Jira when information like contact details is missing

RPA

Orchestrate robots to perform specific tasks in business workflows; trigger and optimize the robots

How process variables work in PROCESIO

As a developer, many of the features in Procesio like process variables, data types or data models will look pretty familiar to you already.

Process variables act as placeholders for data that can be accessed throughout the lifecycle of a process. When a process is running, it passes dynamic data between actions.

A process variable has the following properties:

Name
Data type: can be either a primitive like string, integer, boolean or other, or it can be a custom type that you defined in the data model designer;
Default value: the default process value that will be used at runtime if no other value is set
Single value or list flag: a variable can be treated as a single value (default behavior) or a list of values
Set as Input or Output: the variable value is expected to be set when starting the process, or you can mark it as output if you expect that data to be the result of the process, which will allow you to transfer that data to the client application.

Creating a process variable

Go to the Process Designer section and open a new or an existing process.

Step 1: On the process page, click on the Process Variables icon.

Step 2: Click on the “Add variable” button.

Step 3: Process variable configuration

Using Process Variables in process flows

When configuring an action you can insert process variables in inputs by pressing "#" or by clicking on "Add variable". Both will generate the Process Variables selector from where you can select the process variable you want to use.

For each Process Variable you can see:

name
type
attributes (for Data models)
list tag

Process Variables can be inserted in process flows in different ways:

Input process variable
Output process variable
Process variable used within process to pass dynamic data between actions

They can be easily identified in the Process Variables list:

Whenever you use process variables in a configuration, it is easy to visually differentiate values from process variables. Process variables are outlined in a colored pill, unlike values:

Example 1: CustomerAddress is a process variable sent as QueryParam in the Call API action:

Workspace management is here

Recently we've added Workspace Management, allowing to better manage how you store processes and credentials. If you're on a company account, you can share a workspace with other users from your organization, or add or remove users.

Learn more about how to add a user to a workspace or switch between workspaces here.

Coming up: API key generation for authenticating in PROCESIO

REST clients will be able to authenticate to PROCESIO’s Web API using Proxy API or an API key.

By generating an API key for an account in PROCESIO, you can authenticate from other apps and services.

Hi everyone👋 Excited to be writing our first post on the DEV community. To begin, I thought I'd share what we're doing and why we're joining here on DEV.

We built PROCESIO with the idea to save time for developers when building backends, automation, and integrations. We wanted a platform that would allow to put together lego-like elements for the most used scenarios, but also allow to write custom code whenever needed so that we could address even the most niche cases.

Some of the biggest challenges for developers these days are:

👉 work overload: there is a high demand for software development, and there is not enough workforce or capacity to meet this demand
👉 time constraints: too much time is wasted on boilerplate coding or repetitive tasks while most development projects have strict deadlines
👉 projects require frequent maintenance, changes and updates in highly dynamic and competitive business environments

PROCESIO addresses these challenges by providing a sandboxed environment to build apps up to 5x faster by only coding what is relevant and important. You can define business logic, prototype workflows, visually test, debug, and build data models, and extend the platform's functionality by creating custom actions.
