Why Watermark Removal Shouldn’t Require Seven Different Tools

Removing a watermark sounds like a single task.

In practice, it usually means opening several different tools:

One for visible text and logos

Another for AI-generated image watermarks

Another for image metadata

Another for batch processing

And yet another for video

That fragmented experience is what inspired me to build Clearframe — an all-in-one watermark remover.

 What I wanted to simplify

The goal was not to add one more “upload and remove” page.

I wanted to bring the most common media-cleanup workflows into one consistent product, with the same upload, preview, comparison, and download experience.

Clearframe currently brings together:

Watermark removal from photos

Gemini watermark removal

AI image watermark cleanup

SynthID removal and detection

EXIF, XMP, C2PA, and AI metadata cleanup

iPhone HEIC and HEIF image support

Batch image processing and ZIP downloads

Video watermark removal

 The product decisions that mattered

 1. Start with the type of result users want

Most people do not want to understand the difference between every watermark format.

They usually know only what they want:

Remove a visible mark

Clean an AI-generated image

remove hidden image information

Process multiple files

Clean up a video

The product is organized around those outcomes instead of expecting users to understand the underlying terminology first.

 2. Make the result visible before download

A small watermark can be difficult to judge when the original and result are shown separately.

I designed the examples and editor around clear before-and-after comparisons, so users can inspect the cleaned area before downloading the result.

 3. Keep the workflow consistent

Switching tools should not mean learning a completely different interface.

The main flow stays familiar:

Choose or drop a file

Select the cleanup type

Preview the result

Download the cleaned file

 4. Treat batch processing as a real workflow

Batch cleanup should be more than uploading the same file repeatedly.

Clearframe includes a queue for multiple images, progress states, and combined downloads so that cleaning a folder feels like one task instead of dozens of separate tasks.

 Where the product is now

The first complete version is live.

New accounts receive two Photo Cleanup Credits, and returning users can receive additional cleanup credits. Monthly plans also include unlimited access to the core photo-cleanup tools.

The website is currently in English because I am initially testing it with an international audience.

What I would love feedback on

I am especially interested in these questions:

Is it immediately clear which cleanup tool to choose?

Does the before-and-after presentation make the result easy to judge?

Are image cleanup, metadata cleanup, and AI watermark cleanup organized clearly?

Which watermark workflow would you use most often?

Is there an important image or video format that is still missing?

I would appreciate honest feedback on the positioning, interface, examples, and overall workflow.

How to Expand a Video Without Cropping for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube

A video that looks perfect on YouTube may lose its subject, captions, or product details when cropped for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or Shorts.

The usual solutions are not ideal:

Cropping removes part of the original shot.

Stretching distorts people and objects.

Black bars make the video look unfinished.

A blurred background keeps the full video but does not create a natural composition.

AI video expansion offers another option: keep the original frame and generate new visual space around it.

In this tutorial, I will show you how to expand a video without cropping using ExpandClip.

What does expanding a video mean?

Expanding a video means increasing the canvas around the original footage.

For example, a vertical
9:16
video can be placed inside a wider
16:9
canvas. Instead of stretching or cropping the source, AI generates the missing scenery on the left and right sides.

The same idea works for:

16:9
landscape video to
9:16
vertical video

9:16
vertical video to
16:9
landscape video

Landscape or vertical video to
1:1
square

Video to
4:5
portrait

Custom output dimensions

This technique is also known as video outpainting, video uncropping, or changing video aspect ratio without cropping.

When should you use AI video expansion?

Video expansion is especially useful when the important parts of the footage are close to the edges.

Common examples include:

Converting a landscape product video into a TikTok or Reels ad

Turning a vertical phone recording into a YouTube video

Reusing one campaign video across several social platforms

Keeping captions, faces, products, and logos inside the frame

Creating additional space for text or calls to action

Removing the need for black bars or blurred backgrounds

If a simple crop would remove important content, expanding the canvas is usually the better approach.

Step 1: Upload your source video

Open the ExpandClip AI video expander.

You can upload a video directly from your computer.

If the source video is on your phone, select Upload from phone. Scan the QR code and choose the video on your mobile device. It will appear automatically in the desktop editor, so you do not need to send it through email or a messaging app first.

Step 2: Choose an output aspect ratio

Select the format you want to create:

16:9 Landscape for YouTube, websites, and presentations

9:16 Vertical for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts

1:1 Square for social feeds and product posts

4:5 Portrait for taller Instagram and Facebook posts

You can select one format or create several versions from the same source video.

For a completely custom canvas, use the custom video size tool.

 Step 3: Adjust the composition

The editor shows the original video inside the new canvas.

Use the preview controls to:

Change the size of the source video

Check where new scenery will be required

Keep the subject in the most useful position

Compare the original frame with the expanded canvas

Make sure captions and products remain visible

This step is important because changing the source position changes which areas the AI needs to generate.

The preview does not alter your original video.

Step 4: Generate the expanded video

Once the composition looks right, select the output quality and click Expand video.

ExpandClip keeps the original footage in the composition and generates the missing areas around it.

AI-generated details can vary between clips, so review the complete result before publishing it. Videos with a clear subject, stable camera movement, and consistent background generally provide the AI with better context.

 Step 5: Preview and download

Completed videos appear in My videos.

From there, you can:

Play the complete generated video

Check the full expanded frame

Download the original MP4 result

Send the result to your phone with a QR code

This makes it easier to upload the final version directly to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or another mobile app.

 Expanding vs cropping a video

Cropping and expanding solve different problems.

Method

Keeps the full original frame

Creates new scenery

Best for

Crop to fill

No

No

Footage with extra space around the subject

Blurred background

Yes

No

Fast formatting without generated content

AI video expansion

Yes

Yes

Preserving the shot while changing its composition

If all important content fits inside a crop, cropping may be enough. If cropping removes the subject, captions, or product details, AI expansion is more useful.

 Example: vertical video to landscape

Suppose you recorded a person in a
9:16
phone video and now need a
16:9
version for YouTube.

Cropping cannot make a vertical video wider. Stretching it would distort the person.

With AI expansion, the original vertical frame remains in the center while new background content is generated on both sides. The result uses a landscape canvas without cutting away the original shot.

You can start with the dedicated vertical to horizontal video converter.

Create once, publish in more places

Producing separate footage for every social media aspect ratio is expensive and time-consuming.

A practical workflow is:

Start with the strongest source video.

Keep the subject and important details visible.

Expand it into the formats required by each platform.

Review each result before publishing.

Download the finished versions to desktop or phone.

If you need to change a video's aspect ratio without losing the original shot, try ExpandClip and preview the new composition before generating it.
