Today we celebrate the birthday of the shebang. Forty-two years ago, Dennis Richie, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shebang_(Unix)">the spiritual father of the shebang</a>, wrote the following: <code>The system has been changed so that if a file being executed begins with the magic characters #! , the rest of the line is understood to be the name of an interpreter for the executed file.</code> And so, the she(ll)bang is born.</p> <p>It's not the only birthday to celebrate today.
