I am starting my journey in the world of information technology. Currently, I am pursuing an associate's degree in computer information systems, but I plan to specialize in AI and machine learning or in database administration. Right now, the biggest challenge is securing an internship, which I need to graduate. Many internship posts I see require candidates to already have one year of experience. Call me old-fashioned, but internships were designed to be where you gain experience so that after a year, you can start applying for entry-level positions. In fact, a fellow college student I shared a class with said he saw an engineering internship that required five years of experience to qualify. This paradox makes breaking into the field incredibly difficult for students like me. I am partnering with my career services department to revamp my resume as I continue my education. My resume now highlights my projects, clubs, and experience as a customer service representative. Despite these challenges, I remain optimistic about finding an opportunity that values potential and eagerness to learn.
