I'm delighted to share my first open source acheivement as a 1st year college student.
It's fortunate that I participated and completed the Hacktoberfest 2020 challenge presented by DigitalOcean.
It was a great opportunity for me and could be for you as well.
This short journey was very simple yet an enthusiastic one.
I would love to share my experience to all those beginners there , So here I start :
I'm a zealous person who's always been trying to endeavour what I love which is this field of computer science .
So , I was just surfing this youtube feed one night in the month of late September and found one video related to hacktoberfest 2020 .
With zero open source contribution exercise :
After watching the video , I created my github profile and installed git and watched several youtube videos to learn how it has to be done .
I made 6 pull requests and contributed in them.
I had no clue then If it's gonna be approved or not but still one thing which was in mind that no matter I win or not ,
" atleast I learned about using github and about open source contributions "
so there was nothing to lose .
Fortunately , after 14 days of review period , my contributions got approved by the maintainer and marked as completed.
lesson learnt : no matter whether you win or not , whether you are doing it for the first time , flush off your fears and just grab the chance and DO IT .

Past , Present & Future of AI . It's Applications , Pros & Cons . How is AI going to rule the world for the next coming years ??

What comes to your mind when someone mentions AI to you ? or when your phone gets unlocked with just your fingerprint or using just face detection? I'm sure you must have heard of Google mini or Alexa . What is it exactly and how does it actually understands what we're trying to say ?
AI - Artificial Intelligence is the answer to all these questions and there are many more examples of AI where it has become an integral part of our lives .

Just a brief history of how AI came to fame :

It was not until August 31, 1955 that it was finally coined with the term "Artificial Intelligence" and John McCarthy is regarded as the father of AI .On December 1955 Herbert Simon and Allen Newell developed the Logic Theorist, the first artificial intelligence program which eventually would prove 38 of the first 52 theorems in Whitehead and Russell's Principia Mathematica.
And since then , there was no coming back , it only evolved and significant improvement , experiments and modification has been made till now. More enhancements are on the way .
For the complete history refer to link

It's present impact around the world :

I'll explain this with some real life examples:

You're scrolling down your instagram/facebook/youtube feed and you're watching tech videos suddenly you see an advertisement of a tech product/service in between say free python tutorials and so. That's AI behind it.

You're visiting a website where you see a chatbox down there that you want to ask some certain questions related to the service that website provides and you get immediate responses to your questions. That's an AI controlled chatbot . It is able to gain knowledge quickly and answer hundreds of questions over time.

AI equipped Apple Watch Series 5’s ECG feature saved life of a 61-year old Indian man. It detected Irregular Heartbeat patterns and sign of strokes and immediately gave notifications so to it's response the old man went to the doctor . Furhter diagnosis revealed that the old man had low ejection fraction and required immediate heart surgery.

for more examples you can refer to .link

The most awaited one : Future

Cons :

As a matter of fact that AI is going to bring a revolution lets first look at some of the thoughts on AI by Expert personalities.

"The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race….It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded "~ Elon Musk, Technology Entrepreneur, and Investor.

Jack Ma and Elon Musk held a debate in Shanghai and had disagreements on the future of AI.It was an interesting debate to watch.. After that debate many viewers started commenting how Elon Musk must have thought of Jack Ma regarding his predictions and thought process.
*Here's the link to the debate video Link *

" The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race….It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded ~ Stephen Hawking, BBC .
for more such quotes you can refer tolink
Of course , if we look at the brighter side we have :
Pros

" I imagine a world in which AI is going to make us work more productively, live longer, and have cleaner energy.” – Fei-Fei Li, Computer Science Professor at Stanford.
*“The real risk with AI isn’t malice but competence. A superintelligent AI will be extremely good at accomplishing its goals, and if those goals aren’t aligned with ours, we’re in trouble.” –Stephen Hawking, Theoretical Physicist

"No company is going to survive in the future without implementing, or at least gaining an understanding of, artificial intelligence and how it can be used to better grasp data they collect." – David Gasparyan, President of Phonexa

for more you can refer to link

 Technology enhancements :
