Cervical spine (C-spine) fractures in young children are very rare, and little information on treatment modalities and functional, radiographic, and patient-reported outcome exists. selleck chemicals In this 2-center, retrospective case series, we assessed subjective and functional mid-term outcomes in children aged ≤5 years whose C-spine fractures were treated nonoperatively.Between 2000 and 2018, 6 children (median age at injury 23.5 months; range 16-31 months) with C1 or C2 injuries were treated with Minerva cast/brace or soft collar brace at 1 of the 2 study centers. Two patients suffered C1 fractures, and 4 patients had lysis of the odontoid synchondrosis. Overall, 3 children had sustained polytrauma. One child died due to the consequences of massive head injury. For the primary outcome parameter, we recorded subjective symptoms such as pain and functional restrictions due to the sequelae of C-spine injuries at follow-up.Based on medical records, we also assessed the causes of injury, diagnostic procedures, treatments and no complications of conservative treatment of C1 and C2 injuries in young children.
Deceleration capacitiy for rapid risk stratification in stroke patientsCerebral ischemia is a major cause of neurologic deficit and patients suffering from ischemic stroke bear a relevant risk of mortality. Identifying stroke patients at high mortality risk is of crucial clinical relevance. Deceleration capacity of heart rate (DC) as a parameter of cardiac autonomic function is an excellent predictor of mortality in myocardial infarction and heart failure patients. The aim of our study was to evaluate whether DC provides prognostic information regarding mortality risk in patients with acute ischemic stroke. From September 2015 to March 2018 we prospectively enrolled consecutive patients presenting at the Stroke Unit of our university hospital with acute ischemic stroke who were in sinus rhythm. In these patients 24 hours-Holter-ECG recordings and evaluation of National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) were performed. DC was calculated according to a previously published algorithm. Primary endpoint wasC, which was 0.757 (P  less then  .001, incremental development index [IDI] 95% CI 0.037 (0.018-0.057)), compared to the individual risk parameters. Our study demonstrated that DC is suitable for both objective and independent risk stratification in patients suffering from ischemic stroke. The application of a prediction model combining NIHSS, age and DC is superior to the single markers in identifying patients at high mortality risk.
Previous studies have reported that the levels of L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM) indicate poor prognosis of patients with various solid tumors. However, the prognostic significance of L1CAM in endometrial cancer has remained controversial. Herein, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the prognostic value of L1CAM in endometrial cancer.

All studies related to the association between L1CAM expression and clinical characteristics of endometrial cancer were identified by searching the PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases. Primary outcomes of the meta-analysis were the hazard ratios (HRs) for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). Secondary outcomes were odds ratios (ORs) for clinicopathological characteristics. Publication bias and sensitivity analysis were conducted to ensure reliability of the results.

Overall, 17 studies encompassing 7146 patients were eligible for the meta-analysis. Results showed L1CAM overexpression to be significantly associated with decreased overall survival (HR = 2.87, 95% CI; 1.81-4.55, P < .001) and disease-free survival (HR = 3.32, 95% CI; 1.99-5.55, P < .001) in patients with endometrial cancer. High L1CAM expression was also related to adverse clinicopathological characteristics.

This systematic review demonstrated that high L1CAM expression is correlated with poor survival outcomes and adverse clinicopathological parameters in patients with endometrial cancer.
Different methods have been used throughout the years for syndesmotic injury but there is no consensus on the ideal treatment. Some methods are expensive and some have more complications. The aim of this study is to compare single suture endobutton with double suture endobutton and screw fixation for syndesmotic injury.Sixty nine patients with syndesmotic injury with fibular fractures whom were treated with a single interosseous suture endobutton system (ZipTightTM, Zimmer Biomet), a double interosseous suture endobutton system (ZipTightTM, Zimmer Biomet) and 1 syndesmotic screw (TST, Istanbul, Turkey) were included in this study. Functional and radiological results from patient records between 2015 and 2018 were retrospectively evaluated.Twenty patients were treated with the double interosseous suture endobutton, 23 were treated with the single interosseous suture endobutton, and 26 were treated with traditional AO screw fixation. Three patients from the screw fixation group (11.5%) required revision surgery (P < .selleck chemicals

Long non‑coding RNA LincIN has been reported to be overexpressed and to be involved in the metastasis of breast cancer. However, the expression and role of LincIN in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain unsolved. In the present study, LincIN expression was examined in ESCC by RT‑qPCR, and the roles of LincIN in ESCC were determined using cell growth, migration and invasion assays. In addition, the effects of LincIN on nuclear factor 90 (NF90) and microRNA/miR (miR)‑7 were examined by RNA immunoprecipitation assay, RT‑qPCR, dual‑luciferase reporter assay and western blot analysis. The results revealed that LincIN expression was significantly increased in ESCC tissues and cell lines. The increased expression of LincIN was positively associated with invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage and a poor prognosis. Functional assays revealed that the overexpression of LincIN promoted ESCC cell growth, migration and invasion. Mechanistic analysis revealed that LincIN physically bound to NF90, enhanced the binding between NF90 and primary miR‑7 (pri‑miR‑7), and further enhanced the inhibitory effects of NF90 on miR‑7 biogenesis. Therefore, LincIN downregulated miR‑7 expression in ESCC. The expression of miR‑7 inversely correlated with that of LincIN in ESCC tissues. By downregulating miR‑7, LincIN increased the expression of HOXB13, a target of miR‑7. The overexpression of miR‑7 or the depletion of HOXB13 both attenuated the tumor‑promoting roles of LincIN in ESCC cell growth, migration and invasion. On the whole, the findings of the present study suggest that LincIN is overexpressed and plays an oncogenic role in ESCC via the regulation of the NF90/miR‑7/HOXB13 axis. Thus, LincIN may prove to be a promising prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for ESCC.Ectodermal‑neural cortex 1 (ENC1), a highly expressed protein in lung cancer tissues, was identified from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The objective of the present study was to examine the effects of ENC1 on the biological functions of lung cancer cells. For this purpose, the expression of ENC1 was examined by RT‑qPCR to compare mRNA expression levels between 28 lung cancer tissue samples and para‑cancerous tissue samples. The association between ENC1 expression and clinicopathological features was evaluated between the 2 tissue types. Using RT‑qPCR and western blot analysis, the expression of ENC1 was investigated in a normal lung cell line (16HBE) and 2 lung cancer cell lines (A549 and H1299). The effect of siRNA targeting ENC1 (si‑ENC1) on the proliferation of A549 and H1299 cells was detected by CCK‑8 assay at the indicated time points. Transwell assay was used to measure the migration and invasion of A549 and H1299 cells following transfection with siRNA targeting ENC1 (si‑ENC1). The expressiin the proliferation, migration and invasion of lung cancer cells, and may thus be an effective diagnostic target for certain cancers. The inhibition or reduction of ENC1 activity may represent a breakthrough in the treatment of lung cancer.Irradiation‑induced bone remodeling imbalances arise as a consequence of the dysregulation of bone formation and resorption. Due to the abundance of osteocytes, their long life and their dual‑regulatory effects on both osteoblast and osteoclast function, they serve as critical coordinators of bone remolding. In the present study, femur and tibia‑derived primary osteocytes were cultured and irradiated to observe the functional changes and the cellular senescence phenotype in vitro. Irradiation directly reduced cell viability, affected the crucial dendritic morphology and altered the expression of functional proteins, including upregulation of receptor activator of nuclear factor‑κB ligand and sclerostin, and downregulation of osteoprotegerin. Irradiated osteocytes were shown to exhibit notable DNA damage, which resulted in the initiation of a typical cellular senescence phenotype. Furthermore, it was found that irradiation‑induced prematurely senescent osteocytes stimulate molecular secretion, referred to as senescence‑associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which may be involved in modulation of the bone microenvironment, including the promotion of osteoclastogenesis. Taken together, the results showed that irradiation triggered osteocyte senescence and the acquisition of an associated secretory phenotype. This further resulted in an imbalance of bone remodeling through senescent influence on proliferation, morphology and marker protein production, but also indirectly via a paracrine pathway through SASP secretion. read more The results of the present study may highlight the potential of SASP‑targeted interventions for the management of radiation‑induced bone loss.Insulin resistance (IR) is defined as impaired insulin function, reduced glucose uptake and increased glucose production, which can result in type II diabetes, metabolic syndrome and even bone metabolic disorders. A possible reason for the increasing incidence of IR is population aging. Adipose tissue (AT) is an important endocrine organ that serves a crucial role in whole‑body energy homeostasis. AT can be divided into white AT (WAT), beige AT and brown AT (BAT). Several mechanisms have been previously associated with age‑dependent IR in WAT. However, BAT, a metabolically active tissue, controls the levels of plasma glucose and triglyceride metabolism. Therefore, the present review aimed to summarize the mechanisms of age‑dependent IR induced by AT and to determine the role of WAT browning in achieving positive therapeutic outcomes in age‑dependent IR.Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a type of retinal microangiopathy caused by diabetes mellitus. It has become the leading cause of blindness among working individuals worldwide. DR is becoming increasingly common among younger diabetic patients and there is a need for lifelong treatment. The pathogenic mechanisms of DR are influenced by a number of factors, such as hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, inflammatory response and oxidative stress, among others. Currently, the treatment methods for DR mainly include retinal photocoagulation, vitrectomy, or anti‑vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy. However, these methods have some disadvantages and limitations. Therefore, it is a matter of great interest and urgency to discover drugs that can target the pathogenesis of DR. Since ancient times, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners have accumulated extensive experiences in the use of Chinese herbal medicine for the prevention and treatment of diseases. In the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, curcumin has the effects of promoting blood circulation and relieving pain.read more

Electrochemical sensing is considered as one of the most sensitive and commercially adapted technologies for bio-sensing applications. Amalgamation of electrochemical biosensing with cell culture in microfluidic devices with improved sensitivity and performance are the future of 3D systems. Particularly in cancer, such models with integrated sensing capabilities can be crucial to assess the multiple parameters involved in tumour formation, proliferation, and invasion. In this review, we are focusing on existing 3D cell culture systems with integrated electrochemical sensing for potential applications in cancer models to advance diagnosis and treatment. We discuss their design, sensing principle, and application in the biomedical area to understand the potential relevance of miniaturized electrochemical hybrid systems for the next generation of diagnostic platforms for precision medicine.
The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has seriously affected people's life. The main aim of our investigation was to determine the interactive effects of disease awareness on coping style among Chinese residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 616 Chinese residents from 28 provinces were recruited to participate in this investigation. A questionnaire was used to collect demographic characteristics, cognition of COVID-19, and disease-related stress sources. Coping styles were assessed via the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ).

The survey showed that the main source of information on COVID-19 was different in relation to gender, age, educational level, and occupation (
< 0.001). People's knowledge of the disease, preventive measures, and stress factors were different in relation to demographic characteristics (
< 0.001). Compared with the baseline values, the scores of positive coping and negative coping based on SCSQ in relation to gender, age, educational level, and occupation were statistically significant (
< 0.001, except for participants older than 60 years). Different educational levels corresponded to statistical significant differences in positive coping (
= 0.004) but not in negative coping.

During the pandemic, people with different characteristics had different levels of preventive measures' awareness, which influenced their coping styles. Therefore, during public health emergencies, knowledge of prevention and control measures should be efficiently provided to allow more effective coping styles.
The application of PEEK as a dental implant or abutment is expected to reduce the risk of failure and enhance aesthetics. Given that approximately one in 15 patients have allergic reactions to antibiotics, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been gaining attention as an alternative treatment. Herein, the applicability of PEEK dental implants or abutments was investigated using material analyses, biofilm formation assay, and cell viability tests. The possible use of PDT for peri-implant mucositis was evaluated with the biofilm removal assay. The obtained data were analyzed based on the multivariate analysis of variance, paired t-tests, and the Pearson correlation coefficient (α = 0.05). The results revealed that PEEK was significantly less conducive to the formation of biofilms with S. mutans and A. actinomycetemcomitan (p 0.05) to the other materials. PDT had similar antimicrobial efficacy and yielded similar biofilm removal effects to antibiotics. see more Altogether, these findings suggest that PEEK has attractive features and can serve as an alternative material for dental implants or abutments. In cases where peri-implant mucositis occurs, PDT can be used as an accessible therapeutic approach.
Despite the proven efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) against various types of malignancies, they have been found to induce immune-related adverse events, such as enterocolitis; however, the clinical features of ICI-induced enterocolitis remain to be sufficiently elucidated, which is significant, considering the importance of early detection in the appropriate management and treatment of ICI-induced enterocolitis. Therefore, the current study aimed to determine the utility of capsule endoscopy as a screening tool for ICI-induced enterocolitis.

This single-center, prospective, observational study was conducted on patients with malignancy who received any ICI between April 2016 and July 2020 at Keio University Hospital. Next, second-generation capsule endoscopy (CCE-2) was performed on day 60 after ICI initiation to explore the entire gastrointestinal tract.

Among the 30 patients enrolled herein, 23 underwent CCE-2. Accordingly, a total of 23 findings were observed in 14 (60.8%) patients at any portion of the gastrointestinal tract (7 patients in the colon, 4 patients in the small intestine, 2 patients in both the colon and the small intestine, and 1 patient in the stomach). After capsule endoscopy, 2 patients (8.7%) developed ICI-induced enterocolitis both had significantly higher Capsule Scoring of Ulcerative Colitis than those who had not developed ICI-induced enterocolitis (
= 0.0455). No adverse events related to CCE-2 were observed.

CCE-2 might be a safe and useful entire intestinal tract screening method for the early detection of ICI-induced enterocolitis in patients with malignancies.
Cellulose is abundantly available renewable and sustainable raw material. This work focused on studying the properties of thermoplastic cellulose-based composites and their properties using injection molding and 3D printing of granules. The aim was to maximize the cellulose content in composites. Different compounds were prepared using cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) and commercial cellulose acetate propionate with plasticizer (CP) as polymer matrices, microcellulose (mc) and novel cellulose-ester additives; cellulose octanoate (C8) and cellulose palmitate (C16). The performance of compounds was compared to a commercial poly(lactic acid)-based cellulose fiber containing composite. As a result, CP-based compounds had tensile and Charpy impact strength properties comparable to commercial reference, but lower modulus. CP-compounds showed glass transition temperature (Tg) over 58% and heat distortion temperature (HDT) 12% higher compared to reference.see more

Chagas disease is a parasitic infection with high re-emergence rates in some Amazon regions. The main vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi are haematophagous insects, the triatomines. Only a few reports are available about the occurrence of these wild vectors and their contact with the inhabitants of the riverside regions of the Amazon. This study describes the unusual behaviour of the triatomines that have invaded the homes of the residents of Abaetetuba, the city that has the second highest number of cases of Chagas disease.

Two cross-sectional studies were conducted using sero-epidemiological surveys of the inhabitants of Abaetetuba with registered triatomine home invasions. The frequencies of the variables of interest were analysed using Epi Info version 7.2.

In 2014 and 2017, 145 persons registered home invasions of triatomines in their domiciles and 16.55% reported having been bitten by insects. selleck kinase inhibitor The environmental features described indicated potential conditions for the persistence of the parasite's life cycle. Of the enrolled inhabitants, 0.47% were positive for immunoglobulin G anti-T. cruzi antibodies.

Home invasions of triatomines were confirmed in two periods, with a description of unusual behaviour for the genus Rhodnius. The use of serological surveillance in human populations at risk of this occurrence may constitute a new tool for the early detection of silent infections.
Previous work on sickness absence has shown that conversations about return to work can be challenging. The perception of competing interests and multiple stakeholders in the return to work process may also complicate and erode trust, further impacting health and well-being.

This study aims to explore the themes arising from the experiences of physicians and patients on the impact of health and return to work. The goal was to use these results to develop a Medical Readers' Theatre workshop focusing on negotiating challenging return to work scenarios to serve as an educational support for stakeholders.

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 19 physicians and 15 patients from the Canadian Maritime Provinces on their experiences in return to work following an injury or illness. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and thematically analysed. Using the emergent themes, an educational workshop in the modality of Readers' Theatre was developed.

The findings confirm there are multiple stakeholders involved in the return to work process and the factors influencing successful return are not always medically related. Six recurring themes were identified for the patient group and five for the physicians', allowing the development of storylines and four return to work scenarios. The scenarios have been used in teaching sessions.

The themes reinforced that challenges in return to work are not always medical in nature. This Readers' Theatre adopts perspectives of patients, physicians and other stakeholders whilst focusing on return to work with the goal of providing engagement in reflective and purposeful discussion.
The evolution of vitamin D status across pregnancy trimesters and its association with prepregnancy body mass index (ppBMI; in kg/m2) remain unclear.

We aimed to 1) assess trimester-specific serum total 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations, 2) compare those concentrations between ppBMI categories, and 3) examine associations between 25(OH)D concentrations, ppBMI, and vitamin D intake.

As part of a prospective cohort study, 79 pregnant women with a mean age of 32.1 y and ppBMI of 25.7kg/m2 were recruited in their first trimester (average 9.3 weeks of gestation). Each trimester, vitamin D intake was assessed by 3 Web-based 24-h recalls and a Web questionnaire on supplement use. Serum total 25(OH)D was measured by LC-tandem MS. Repeated-measures ANOVA was performed to assess the evolution of 25(OH)D concentrations across trimesters of pregnancy and comparisons of 25(OH)D concentrations between ppBMI categories were assessed by 1-factor ANOVAs. Stepwise regression analyses were used to identify deteuse of a multivitamin across pregnancy.
There was an increase in serum total 25(OH)D concentrations across trimesters, independent of ppBMI, seasonal variation, and vitamin D intake from supplements. Almost all women had serum total 25(OH)D concentrations over the 40- and 50-nmol/L thresholds, thus our study supports the prenatal use of a multivitamin across pregnancy.Antibiotic resistance often generates defects in bacterial growth called fitness cost. Understanding the causes of this cost is of paramount importance, as it is one of the main determinants of the prevalence of resistances upon reducing antibiotics use. Here we show that the fitness costs of antibiotic resistance mutations that affect transcription and translation in Escherichia coli strongly correlate with DNA breaks, which are generated via transcription-translation uncoupling, increased formation of RNA-DNA hybrids (R-loops) and elevated replication-transcription conflicts. We also demonstrated that the mechanisms generating DNA breaks are repeatedly targeted by compensatory evolution, and that DNA breaks and the cost of resistance can be increased by targeting the RNase HI, which specifically degrades R-loops. We further show that the DNA damage and thus the fitness cost caused by lack of RNase HI function drive resistant clones to extinction in populations with high initial frequency of resistance, both in laboratory conditions and in a mouse model of gut colonization. Thus, RNase HI provides a target specific against resistant bacteria, which we validate using a repurposed drug. In summary, we revealed key mechanisms underlying the fitness cost of antibiotic resistance mutations that can be exploited to specifically eliminate resistant bacteria.selleck kinase inhibitor

In the orthopaedic field the foreign body reaction is well known for therapeutic purposes in the alleged Masquelet technique consisting of segmental bone loss two-stage reconstruction. The induced membrane creates advantageous local conditions that promote bone graft remodeling and osteointegration. The aim of our study was to describe the first two cases in Literature of induced membrane observed following silver-coated knee megaprosthesis reconstruction. In addition, it was our interest to evaluate their histological features. The toxic effects of fluoroquinolones and steroid on tendon cells have been well established, but their role on human ligamentocytes remain unclear. We have investigated the effects of ciprofloxacin and methylprednisolone on human anterior cruciate ligamentocytes after 7 and 14 days of culture. We evaluated cell viability, Annexin V-FITC/PI assay, senescence-associated β-galactosidase staining, and collagen type I detection. Regarding quinolones administration, we observed that ligament cells treated with ciprofloxacin have characterized by a significantly decrease of cell viability and collagen type I expression and an increase of apoptotic cells. In cells treated with high dose of steroid we observed a significantly decrease of cell viability and collagen type I expression and the presence of senescent cells. Therefore, ciprofloxacin and methylprednisolone might have cytotoxic effects on ligamentocytes by two distinct mechanisms. Quinolones seem to induce cell apoptosis, while steroids might be able to induce cellular senescence. Hence their use should be avoided in athletes and in orthopedic surgery.Flexibility is an integral component in any conditioning program. Flexibility has been defined as the ability of a muscle to lengthen and allow one or more joints in a kinetic chain to move through a range of motion. The lack of flexibility of the hamstring muscle group has been associated with a higher risk of non-contact muscle injury, and for several other conditions, such as changes in lumbopelvic rhythm, greater thoracic kyphosis and lumbar flexion, and lower back pain. The present study explored the effects of a 90-minute soccer match on hamstring group flexibility. Our study shows that a 90-minute football match favorably impacts the flexibility of the hamstring muscle group. Flexibility is a modifiable risk factor for muscle strain injury. It remains to be ascertained how long this effect lasts, and whether it may be associated with the risk of developing or avoiding noncontact injury to the hamstring muscle group.Hip fractures are common in older and frail adults, and the risk of adverse outcomes and mortality is significantly increased in patients affected by osteosarcopenia. Identifying particularly vulnerable subjects is a critical step to act aimed at promoting postoperative recovery and reducing the risk of adverse events. However, the diagnostic criteria that are currently used to establish the severity of osteosarcopenia are not easily applicable in patients with hip fractures and impaired mobility. Selleck Curcumin analog C1 In this review, the new knowledge on the pathophysiology of osteosarcopenia that provides several cues for studying biomarkers potentially useful in clinical practice is summarized. Although significant progress has been obtained in understanding the biological mechanisms leading to the involution of the bone- muscle unit, further studies are needed to identify clinically relevant biomarkers and their diagnostic accuracy in establishing the severity of the osteosarcopenia, predicting adverse outcomes, and guiding physicians in choosing appropriate therapeutic interventions.Telerehabilitation is defined as a set of tools, procedures, and protocols to deliver rehabilitation programs remotely. It involves the use of various communication technologies to efficiently provide rehabilitation services distantly or via some other remote environment. After an orthopedic procedure, physical rehabilitation is essential to restore joint's function, to improve quality of life as well as to relieve pain, to recovery independence. The effectiveness of telerehabilitation has been studied in literature. The aim of this narrative review is to update the current evidence, evaluate the efficacy of telerehabilitation after hip, and knee prosthesis surgery for end stage arthrosis. Results show that it is useful to integrate traditional interventions with telerehabilitation to accelerate efficiency in existing healthcare delivery systems. Future high-methodological-quality studies should be conducted to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of innovative technologies.Marfan syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder of the connective tissue caused by mutations of the fibrillin-1 gene (FBN1) that primarly involves the cardiovascular, skeletal and ocular systems. We investigated 72 children affected by Marfan syndrome in order to identify possible correlations between some musculoskeletal features and specific mutations of fibrillin-1 gene. The following FBN-1 gene mutations have been observed a missense mutation in 21 children, a stop mutation in 9, a splice mutation in 15 and other mutations in the remaining 27 patients. We observed a statistical significant association between chest asymmetry and splice mutation (p=0.031) and between scoliosis >20° or thoracolumbar kyphosis and stop mutation (p=0.039). However, we did not find a true genotype-phenotype correlation between the fibrillin-1 gene mutations observed and the prognosis of the disease. Future studies are necessary to demonstrate further genotype-phenotype correlations in order to identify early prognostic markers of Marfan syndrome and to plan the most appropriate clinical management accordingly.C-reactive protein (CRP) and Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) are the two most commonly serum biomarkers for the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infections (PJI). We monitored CRP and ESR in 60 patients affected by osteoarthritis who underwent primary total hip or knee arthroplasty to verify their utility for an early diagnosis of periprosthetic hip and knee infections. In all but two patients, both CRP and ESR increased rapidly after surgery, reaching a peak value around the 3rd day postoperatively; CRP decreased rapidly in 20 days, reaching normal value one month after surgery, while ESR decreased slowly, reaching the normal value after three months. In two patients, CRP and ESR were still elevated six months after the surgical procedure and in both cases a diagnosis of PJI was made. Our study confirms that postoperative screening of CRP and ESR values are very useful in making an early diagnosis of this serious complication.Selleck Curcumin analog C1
